There’s no excuse for not turning up for training , he’s been badly advised but he’s old enough to know better . It’s just another slight erosion of the game. The amount of money in the game is vile . Everybody wants their club to play at the highest level but I hate what the prem stands for financially

I’m sure it’s happened plenty of times before where a player has refused to turn up & still not managed to get the move he was after. But you’d look like a right dick on that first day back after the window has closed wouldn’t you.

  2. Apparently the player hasn’t turned up for training today. He released this statement yesterday.

This follows Anthony Gordon doing the same thing to leave Everton & move to Newcastle.

Gordon, I don’t like it but I can understand it a little because of how toxic it got recently with him and the fans there after that protest last week, and also Everton looking in real trouble of being relegated.

Caicedo I really don’t like - Brighton have sold Cucurella, Trossard & Bissouma (another CM) already this season. The 21 year old has 2 & a half years remaining on his contract & whilst £60m is a lot of money, I’m sure Brighton aren’t exactly skint right now & would need a ridiculous bid to let him go & leave themselves looking for a replacement this late into the window.

I know it’s always happened  where players refuse to play, or train for their club to force a move, but I fear with these two being such high profile recently, this may become even more common practice for players wishing to move clubs.

We always used to sell for, what felt like, the right price. This is the first one for a long time (that I can remember) where it feels we have been short changed)

Pure guesswork but possibly a reason that Bournemouth have managed to get the deal done & Palace haven’t.

I wonder if Palace were/are less likely to agree to some add ons we’d like included whereas a team in trouble will be working harder to get the deal done and may be more generous.

Here’s hoping for a rather large sell on clause included in the deal & Semenyo bangs in plenty second half of the season!

The Secret Footballer book is an interesting read on Cotterill at Portsmouth.

I think his emotive personality, and arguably a bit of insecurity, is a blessing and a curse. Like Pearson, must be great to play under when things are going well.

    Kitson certainly didn't like him.

Watched a couple of Undr the Cosh interviews with Clarke Carlisle & Wilbs - they absolutely loved him.

Ex-City of course so I’m sure many will feel the same, but I do really like Cotterill as a guy. He’s clearly mad as a fox, very intense and emotive - but he’s someone I’d really like to succeed.

    Definitely this man.

Quite like Mick McCarthy. Loved it when Ipswich fans hounded him out and then got relegated. Got what they deserved there.

Mourinho too, even though he's perhaps not managed to evolve with the times tactically.

A lot of what he says at the time gets laughed at, but gets proven to be correct down the line.

Am I right in saying that LC has never had a proper testimonial from the club?

I'm sure there was various events to recognise him hitting the record, but no big game. If so, that's some indictment on how the club hierarchy see him

Christ I still remember going away to York City for his debut (1-0 win Kevin Nugent, I think).

Had a testimonial against the Gas didn’t he?

Poor goal to concede according to Russell Martin haha. Great finish!

Was expecting the player chasing him to do what Wood did to Semenyo earlier on in the game and drag him down by his shirt - Almost like Chiellini on Saka in the Euros final.

Thanks all - Could he play up front on his own?

Too lightweight at this stage I think!

Can anyone give me a comparison to another player in terms of style or what to expect? Is he a small number 9 or a winger/wide forward?

Reminded me a little of Sam Baldock last night.

Question for anyone who knows, does the block in the Dolman meet requirements for allowing fans to stand? Or is it strictly only allowed to be a seated area? Ie could the club designate it a standing area if they wanted to?

Fwiw I don’t even think the south stand corner is a designated standing area. It was previously a designated unreserved area, but they changed that a couple of seasons ago. Think the club just take a relaxed approach towards both of those things happening.

  10. Have any original season card holders in that area actually complained or are people taking offence on behalf of them on here?

I haven’t read this thread in its entirety so I could have missed some legitimate complaints, but from the people I know that have season cards in there, they weren’t bothered about it Saturday.

In theory we could allocate just 2k.

The 10 percent rule applies as I thought, only if the capacity falls below 20k.

Oh I wasn’t aware of that, just assumed it was 10%

I’m not sure we’d need any more than 1000, in fact I’m not sure if we’d need more than 500 currently,

I’m not sure we could house many more than 1000 in there, without having to make further changes to the Atyeo stand underneath.

I’m not one that moved to E34, but I can see it becoming an issue & I see this as a potentially easy fix.

Anyone know what capacity half that stand is? If it's 2k then netting wouldn't cost much, but staffing wise would be a lot higher in cost then it is now surely

I think the stand holds 3700 odd.

Unsure on how many city fans previously sat in the Atyeo prior to the move to the south stand corner. I’m guessing 800 odd. 2700 as minimum requirement for away allocation, then they always seemed to net off a large amount.

Who's going to pay for all that?

It was in place previously, I don’t really see a big issue with cost.

Instead of the stewards in between home fans like they’re going to have next match day as the statement says, they can be next to the netting in the Atyeo.

The concourse previously had a split gate in it anyway, I assume this will still be there.

Not that I care but wouldn't that damage how many away fans we can hold? Thus impacting how many tickets the club gets for our travels?

Why don't we put away fans top of Lansdown, move the family section to a different part and put the ultras in atyeo...

Would love to see the away fans try and get an atmosphere going all the way up there ?

I don’t think it affects anything unless another club adopts a tit for tat approach in how many tickets they choose to give out.

Changing the Atyeo back to how it was a few years ago is the easiest fix. Net off the middle, close the concourse off with the gates already in place & have home fans exit with those leaving the Dolman.

The club really should be looking at doing this imo.

He isn't that much better than Max, if at all, to warrant his cost to us.

Or, loaning out a player on very high wages, demanding even higher wages for a new deal, who isn’t even in the first 11. Loan out one not playing, to help fund us loaning one in who can improve us.

I hope that is the case, because imo O'Leary isn't good enough.

Obviously not?!? Not so obvious, considering the scandals around football, some of which have involved referees.

Anyway, I'm glad that something is finally moving.  Every true supporter should be behind the club for this issue.

Why would they take issue with us though? I can’t see it being purposefully done.

Seems we have asked for clarification on penalty record??

    Plus the reasons behind it.

    Fairly unprecedented no?

Adds a bit of pressure I guess.

I would love to see a super cut of all the penalty claims we’ve had in the last few years.

Referees are obviously not against Bristol City, but it is strange to see such bad luck go on for this amount of time. Hopefully it changes soon
