  1. I bloody hope they weren't. Poor bastards have suffered enough already!
  2. I just wish they'd stop beating around the bush and say what they really think.......?
  3. I mean, he is teeny tiny at 5'4", but that angle is brilliant!
  4. So long as the keeper has released the ball in the area it doesn't matter where his feet are. Corner kicks just need to have a fraction of overhang on the semi-circle and it's perfectly fine. Whole of the ball over the whole of the line is the rule, whether it be throw ins, goals, corners, goal kicks etc.
  5. Sorry, did you include "pay your subs" in the title despite not paying your subs yourself.....?
  6. Some of the ads are brighter than the sun it seems, I agree. Particularly jarring on night games and second half now the nights are drawing in.
  7. I know exactly where you're coming from. I've always said I get as much pleasure out of us beating MK Dons, Scunthorpe, Walsall etc as I do beating Huddersfield, Reading, Barnsley etc. A win is a win is a win. We go crazy when we score and are delighted when we win - no matter the opposition. Being a big fish in league one just gives us more of those moments. After the struggles of the past few seasons it would be nice to be able to enjoy going down to the ground again. Whilst I would rather we had those moments at this level of course, I understand the mindset here for sure.
  8. Richard Gould said: “Nigel wants to come back as quickly as possible and is making good progress. He and Curtis are in regular contact and we are looking forward to welcoming him back.” What am I missing?
  9. People asking for a quote from Nige.....surely this is due to the media team and nothing else? Pearson has spoken to Fleming on a regular basis. He has spoken to Gould confirming he wants to come back asap. Gould confirms this. Surely, the comment from Gould is essentially a quote from Pearson as he's relaying the message. Not sure why the media team would therefore need to phone Nige for a quote.

Pulis all over again....took us years to recover from him.
  17. Try and contact Richard Latham. If anyone can get hold of Cheese it'll be him, I'm sure.
  18. They'll be getting a new stand or two when we re-enter the winter of discount tents soon.......
  19. You're absolutely right....3 points off relegation is very much at risk. But we're not 3 points off relegation. We're 8 points off. 9 when Reading get their 9 point deduction soon.
  20. That was pretty much what Orient's owner has said - determine where in the ground drinking should/could be allowed and also choosing the match. (His example being that a tense London derby wouldn't be the best match to trial it with) Your first point is absolutely the biggest problem I can foresee with it. You would hope that those that are idiotic enough to do it would likely be all in the same area anyway, but even so.... We have a prediction most matches what minute the kids and parents along from us go to the toilet. Alcohol definitely isn't a contributing factor here! I guess part of the (admittedly erroneous) theory may be that if you can drink at your seat you're not going to try and binge a few pints in 15 minutes just before the game and at half time etc, and so the drinking will be more paced, hopefully reducing the amount of alcohol related incidents in the ground. I'm all for trialling it, but feel it should be something that the fans get a vote on how it works if it's passed. But in all honesty I don't think it would be passed, so that's kind of a moot point in any case. There will be incidents during the trial that shows too many people couldn't be trusted to behave responsibly, I've no doubt. Personally I don't drink before a game because I have a bladder the size of a peanut and would miss half the match even on 1 pint!
  21. I'm interested to know how they handle segregation for this match because there is no natural segregation in the stadium. Yeovil will obviously bring fans up. Not sure if any Dover supporters made the trip yesterday if I'm honest!
  22. They absolutely deserved the victory tonight. Came flying out of the blocks and took the game to Dover for the first 25/30 mins. Dover looked far stronger by the interval though. I was worried Yate had put too much energy into the opening exchanges and screwed themselves over in terms of fitness. Half time came at the right time as far as Yate were concerned. Second half though they were by far the better team, especially from a defensive point of view. Dover had spells but Yate had an answer to absolutely everything and could've better a could more with a little composure in front of goal. Scenes at the final whistle. The magic of the cup is well and truly alive further down the pyramid.
  23. It's a really difficult one. It's an important distinction to make that the club aren't denying victims the compensation they are owed in this instance. From what I can see they are just not convinced that these 8 people were in fact victims. No judgment has been awarded in the individuals' favour and it doesn't appear to have even gone through the courts before. If it had done and compensation had been awarded that the club are refusing to pay out then that is clearly another situation entirely. The current owners can only rely on the information they have available to them, presumably from the original trial. Bennell is the only one found responsible that is still alive and therefore the only one that can realistically testify - irrespective of whether or not anything he says is believed. If the information that has come out before sees no reference to the 8 people suing today then the club are within their rights to wonder whether or not the alleged abuse took place and to counter it if they have reason to suspect that in actual fact it's 8 people looking for a meal ticket because others they knew and trained with had the misfortune to suffer abuse. It wouldn't be the first time someone has fraudulently joined a class action because they see the opportunity for a windfall. By allowing it to go through the court, the club then ensures the legal system therefore assesses the evidence and makes a judgment. If the 8 are determined to be telling the truth then they will receive a payout accordingly and they will likely receive a bigger sum than if it were to be settled out of court. That bigger sum will still be a drop in the ocean to the current owners and so they're probably happy to take that risk to avoid other unscrupulous people who weren't victims from coming forward thinking it'll be an easy out of court payday for them that ultimately they don't deserve. There are of course counter arguments to all of the above, and there is a good chance that these 8 people are genuine victims, but just offering a thought as to why the club aren't just blindly settling out of court.
