  1. Great fight back from the very consistent Rew and the in form (with bat more than ball) Aldridge. Every run counts as I can’t see our very weakened attack taking 20 cheap wickets
  2. Even the damned run out was Abbott, which I haven’t seen yet but to lose our in form batter after 2 balls like that was hugely disappointing
  3. Tom Abell is really starting to frustrate me now. With his talent he should have scored shed losds more runs than he has. He's one of my favourite players too. He's due a big one, 2nd innings maybe.... or Saturday
  4. Deffo, but....... he would have had an army of photographers with him and not done any lifting.
  5. Back to 4 day cricket tomorrow and Somerset are taking the T20 very seriously and have rested a few players, notably Overton, Gregory TKC and Henry. The forecast doesn’t look good, I’m due to go on Wednesday so that’ll probably be the worst day. The starting XI will be named from the following squad: Tom Abell, Sean Dickson, Tom Lammonby, George Bartlett, Andy Umeed, James Rew, Ben Green, Lewis Goldsworthy, Kasey Aldridge, Shoaib Bashir, Jack Brooks and Alfie Ogborne
  6. I don’t want to let him off but I think we’d have crept over the line still
  7. If you want to know what an amazing Series this has been just look at this thread. Loads of- it’s all over- that’s the Ashes gone type posts, and I’m not having a go at anyone here because I’ve not disagreed, but we’ve ended up winning!! And similar in the previous tests, both of which we could have won. Test cricket is the boss and the Ashes rarely fail to deliver.
  8. Yet ANOTHER quite brilliant test. Game on!
  9. Ha! I never said we were out of it, just a bit of bother but no real problem.
  10. Woodie makes things happen. Love it!
  11. I’d rather watch Rovers reserves than the hundred. This is sport at its very best.
  12. Test cricket is absolute garbage, thank goodness they’ve got rid of it in August and we can all enjoy the hundred instead!
  13. That was inevitable the way this series has gone. Could really have done without it though. The Aussie bowlers have looked really jaded this afternoon and that’s given them a late lift
  14. Now we’re in a bit of bother. Jonny is not having a good series
  15. The checking people outside the stadium must just be a box ticking exercise. Just reading this thread proves what a waste of time it is. If anyone has got something to hide they’ll just walk past and ignore them. It should be done properly or not at all.
  16. And to make it even more of a bargain, Terry Cooper drove up to Darlington and helped him move. Couldn’t afford big relocation fees in them days.
  17. Yes you’re right, definitely the WDP. We didn’t really have the Evening Post around our way but the WDP was very popular. I wish I’d kept the paper to read all the other stuff to happen that day.
  18. I would have liked a bit more detail but appreciate your effort anyway Bargain of the century.
  19. £8000 in 1981 between 2 non league clubs seems a lot! How did he get on at Maidstone?
  20. Growing up in West Somerset there was an abandoned mansion on the edge of our village. As kids we would occasionally climb through a broken window and explore inside. One day we were upstairs larking about when I noticed an old Evening Post that had been used as carpet underlay, the carpet long gone. On closer examination I could see it was a report on an FA Cup final, Manchester United 1 Bristol City 0, April 1909. I was about to rescue it and take it home when a loud angry voice shouted from downstairs, we all scarpered as quickly as we could and the next day the whole place had been boarded up. That was the last time any of us set foot in there, it was soon demolished for a new housing estate.
  21. I hope to be there again but I somehow managed to agree to visiting friends in Northern France that weekend so I'm now in negotiations......... soon to be divorce negotiations the way things are going.
  22. Last year even though it sold out tickets kept appearing on the Edgbaston website right up until the day. I got great tickets right at the top of the pavilion, one plus side to Birmingham not qualifying. I must say despite the result i thoroughly enjoyed the day and thought it a far better venue to Cardiff where they'd previously been. Would recommend.
  23. At finals day anything can happen, i haven't got stats to back it up but it feels like often the favourites don't win. However, the 2 times we've played Essex its felt like they shouldn't be in the same league as us we've been so dominant. I just hope we get past Surrey to get the chance
  24. That's a lot of categories! We don't play them until the end of February which means we'll be nearer A as we'll be challenging for promotion.
