  1. Yes you’re right, definitely the WDP. We didn’t really have the Evening Post around our way but the WDP was very popular. I wish I’d kept the paper to read all the other stuff to happen that day.
  2. I would have liked a bit more detail but appreciate your effort anyway Bargain of the century.
  3. £8000 in 1981 between 2 non league clubs seems a lot! How did he get on at Maidstone?
  4. Growing up in West Somerset there was an abandoned mansion on the edge of our village. As kids we would occasionally climb through a broken window and explore inside. One day we were upstairs larking about when I noticed an old Evening Post that had been used as carpet underlay, the carpet long gone. On closer examination I could see it was a report on an FA Cup final, Manchester United 1 Bristol City 0, April 1909. I was about to rescue it and take it home when a loud angry voice shouted from downstairs, we all scarpered as quickly as we could and the next day the whole place had been boarded up. That was the last time any of us set foot in there, it was soon demolished for a new housing estate.
  5. I hope to be there again but I somehow managed to agree to visiting friends in Northern France that weekend so I'm now in negotiations......... soon to be divorce negotiations the way things are going.
  6. Last year even though it sold out tickets kept appearing on the Edgbaston website right up until the day. I got great tickets right at the top of the pavilion, one plus side to Birmingham not qualifying. I must say despite the result i thoroughly enjoyed the day and thought it a far better venue to Cardiff where they'd previously been. Would recommend.
  7. At finals day anything can happen, i haven't got stats to back it up but it feels like often the favourites don't win. However, the 2 times we've played Essex its felt like they shouldn't be in the same league as us we've been so dominant. I just hope we get past Surrey to get the chance
  8. That's a lot of categories! We don't play them until the end of February which means we'll be nearer A as we'll be challenging for promotion.
  9. I'd say our semi final opponent's Surrey are the next best team with Essex the weakest of the 4. So Essex should be where you put your money. Our win at the Oval last week was a masterclass against a very good team, whether it'll mean anything next Saturday, who knows.
  10. If you had to pick 3 main rivals to beat in the finals day it'd be Surrey, Essex and Hampshire.
  11. Another brilliant night in Taunton. Haven't been on here tonight, hope nobody was doubting us at any point........
  12. No, with Stokes not bowling and Wood only in short bursts it looks like Mo and Root might have a lot of bowling to do, which doesn’t fill me with hope
  13. I’m wondering if Stokes will be able to field, he was really struggling there but what an effort. Still in it folks, just got to find 5 fit bowlers now
  14. Amazing that all the mistakes we’ve made, catches we’ve dropped, brainless moments, long injury list. After 2 1/2 tests there’s never been much between the two teams.
  15. I could watch that 2019 Headingley highlights every day. I’d forgotten how dreadful the Aussies were, they completely lost the plot and Payne’s captaincy was woeful. That’s not taking anything away from the hero of the day, Jack Leach well supported by Ben Stokes
  16. 27, he started back very well with a 78 but failed to impress with bat and gloves since. But after last year he’d certainly earned the right to be given another go, it’s just how long do you stick with him?
  17. Yes it appears they’ve already done it.
  18. Lancashire or Surrey await the winners of tomorrow’s quarter final at Taunton. All we can ask is everyone plays their best and we’ll be fine, for me this is the best all round T20 squad we’ve ever had. Even better than the one containing Buttler and Kieswetter. But we all know T20 can turn on its head with one bad or good 5 minutes. Come on Somerset!
  19. 8 wickets for the “new” guys. Now please keep them fit.
  20. Well a couple of overs ago I was thinking how Woods figures didn’t do him justice, that’s looking better and he deserves the last for five.
  21. We’re taking it turn for the sessions at the moment. Another thriller on our hands
  22. I think Joe Root could do with a rest from slip and close catching. He’s not looked like the old Root all series.
  23. Well Marsh is playing Bazball, strike rate of a 100, in fact the team run rate is a very healthy 4.54 now
  24. Crikey it’s a quick outfield. I guess we’ll see a lot of short stuff when the Aussies bowl.
  25. Boycott would happily run his own mother out to save himself.
