  1. There is 0 prospect of him being fired this season - that would mean the board would tacitly admit they were wrong - which they won’t do.

I think we’ll float about in lower mid table and, rightly or wrongly, Manning will be generously backed in the summer. They need this appointment to work so they’ll do whatever it takes.

If I was JL I'd sack Tinnion, get a proper CEO in - and get Horseman back into the club under Tinns former role ASAP.

Then make the overtures to get NP back. Olive branch etc.

If that fails - make him a consultant on all footballing decisions off the book going forward.

I don’t think Pearson would consider coming back in any circumstance - I’d be surprised if he managed again actually, seems content to relax.

I fully accept I've gone early on this.

I'm not saying sack him this instant. But more so based on what I've seen so far I do have concerns about the summer.

The responses to your post - which has some good points - will always be skewed by the fact you’d prefer it if Manning fails.

Waste of money, thousand other things to invest in before doing it

Not really - how the ground looks and general upkeep are all part of the ‘soft power’ a club can display. Little things like that may subconsciously make the difference between a player signing, a sponsor or investment. Details matter.

Manning is another LJ in my view, likes a square peg in round hole and as yesterday demonstrated when options are available makes very strange decisions. Jury massively out and no way has this been the proposed upgrade Tinnion and Lansdown suggested

    Manager in his 30s ✅

    Controversial appointment ✅

Replacing an experienced and popular manager ✅

= Lee Johnson reincarnated - such a lazy comparison 🤣

When an opponent goes down ‘ hit him on the head , hit him on the head , hit him on the head with a baseball bat , on the head’ . Moderately aggressive wouldn’t you say?
And the beautifully melodic ‘you’re gonna get your freaking heads kicked in’ .

The generous deep harmonies of ‘ you’ll be dead by five o’clock’

Ah we loved a sing song back in the day.

For me a killer for singing is being sat down , mingled into a crowd on the terrace you became part of one unit and were carried along ( sometimes literally) by the singing and would join in without being  self conscious.
I think we are also generally quieter by nature than those loud Northern monkeys .

You often say this, and whilst the larger clubs have great away support.. there are also the numerous Northern clubs who have an even more tepid atmosphere than AG does.

Most people only see a club's away following - West Ham fans would have come away from the first leg thinking we create great noise, which we can do. Usually a very different experience watching at their home ground.

The Lansdowns would have looked around at the full(?) stadium last night thinking everything was rosey.

I sit not far away from them and I didn't hear our fans at all last night. Leeds fans sang all night and drowned out any noise from our fans. I'm not knocking the singing section because they do their best but it doesn't travel round the ground. That's not their fault, it's a design fault and it needs changing.

Despite people claiming Jon will listen to alternatives I think  as long as the ground is full then he and dad are happy.

3000 away fans behind the Atyeo goal is worth a goal to away teams.

It’s crazy - whether it’s a goal or not, it’s clearly a marginal gain in favour of the away side.. so why on earth do we wilfully allow it to happen?!

Very rarely do I see kids wearing bristol city shirts in this city its all Chelsea man United arsenal Tottenham etc when you go to other citys even say Coventry beileve it or not all you see is people wearing Coventry shirts

I’m not sure that’s true actually - used to be the case, but I’ve seen a huge uptick in kids wearing City merchandise over the last few years. That isn’t something that can change overnight, but it’s something that is improving.

Can't wait for defeats at forest, boro and Southampton on here. How close will we be to the bottom 6 by then?

The club is a cesspit at the moment and can't imagine it's a nice place to work.

?? Anyone would think we were in the relegation zone and out of the FA cup. It’s a disappointing result but comments like this are so OTT.

  10. I’m hoping - with his self proclaimed attributes of pace/power/flair that he can replace some of the threat we lost when Semenyo left.

We’ve missed genuine pace, and if he can also replace some of Semenyo’s strength and athleticism that would be fantastic.

I’d never heard of him until last night - so no idea on his ability; just what he’s said about his style of play.

Some very humorous guys on the Forest forum so worth a look if you get the chance. A few things i picked up; they think our fans are 'nuts' from the days they found their Amici was no longer serving coffee and from when they thought Ashton Park was a nice place for a post-match stroll!. How times have changed with all the love and dove we now have; a full house at BS3 again (thanks Liam), 15% off drinks in a fantastic stadium (thanks Steve) and the chance of an FA Cup run.

I know this isn't all negative about our club so expect some typical comments but;...we are so fortunate not to be a Blackpool, Bury, Bristol Rovers, Charlton, Derby, Sheff Wednesday, Reading, etc

Cant wait for tomorrow, Come on City

Better back in the Amici days imo 👍🏼

It boils my piss that the Club seem to think s82 is the entirety of our fanbase.

Very rarely see anything other than s82 posted by the club.

At the end of the game Manning and the players don't come over and clap the part of the ground I'm in. They make a beeline for s82 and then back to the dressing room pretty much.

Not sure about that re: club. They show a decent cross section on social media - but a group doing flag displays and singing in a packed area of the ground is obviously more impressive visually for pictures than supporters quietly sat down in the often less busy Lansdown stand.

Regarding the team and management, you could argue it shows which section they believe helps spur them on most during matches.

Wouldn’t expect anything less from the same club that on Tuesday night showed the goals from the game at the London Stadium and Downsy the clown said ‘to once again celebrate our 1-1 draw’. Celebrate!

No wonder we never achieve anything ever. A club absolutely over the moon with complete mediocrity.

Reminds me of Downsy’s debut where he proudly read out the mightily impressive 22,500 attendance at Ashton Gate to the bemusement of the fans from *checks notes* Newcastle United.

Been a ridiculous hire from day one.

  14. It is really odd how this game is continually celebrated. Yeah, great win.. but it was ages ago.

We are told that we are a club with aspirations of competing with the likes of Liverpool, which makes it all the more smalltime.

The mural is a good piece of artwork, but is a permanent reminder of our underachievement. All very odd.

on the pitch I can get it, but do you really believe that being intimidating to away fans outside of the ground is going to have any effect on the result at all?

Broadly agree PF. Albeit I would query certain bits.

The allocation rule is about 2k or 10% of capacity at Championship level, whichever is lower. 2 blocks of the Dolman or Lansdown then but manageable...

...Promoted and it's 10% of capacity or 3k, whichever is lower. 3 blocks of the Dolman? I forget the capacity of the Lower Lansdown.

When we had the reduced capacity we could have gone to 1,500-1,600 when the Lansdown was still being done. An exemption for that period, normal rules to apply post the completion of the rebuild.

As we know, up to 15% of capacity for the FA Cup.

In some ways the whole Atyeo future proofs all 3 of the scenarios not that I especially like it but I'm struggling to align a way around the 3.

Secondly. Probably a Safety thing, or perceived Safety thing. Perhaps the dreaded SAG weren't too happy and club seeking to maximise revenue and minimise costs..well less stewards, security and police needed as I'm sure we both know.

I must admit I didn’t read all that because I knew what you were going to say.

I’m only interested in the end result - and the club messed that up.

West ham was great standing felt like old and you have a seat at half time. The entire south stand should be safe standing.

The best thing they could’ve done for atmosphere is made the Atyeo safe standing (and that the home end) with away fans in the nearest adjacent corner of Dolman or Lansdown.

The boneheads in charge assumed putting our vocal support physically as far away as possible from away support would be a better catalyst for atmosphere ?

  18. I think the club has a got much better at marketing. Little things like bus adverts, the ads in city centre etc help tacitly cement awareness of the club in people’s minds.

In JL's defence, I should say that I 'reached out' to him following his comments at the Q&A session about being open to exploring new ideas surrounding standing/atmosphere, and he put me in touch with Tom Rawcliffe, with whom I then had a meeting.

It's all very early days, but the wheels are in motion for a possible consultation exercise, almost certainly involving the SC&T, which may or may not lead to some changes in time for the 2025/26 season. It has to be that far away so that, IF the consultation shows a desire for change, this can be organised and communicated well in advance of an annual round of season ticket renewals.

So, the topic hasn't been ignored.

To add to this, when the time comes, i hope the SC&T can find a way to include younger fans.

As voting in general elections shows, older voters (which translated to a football context most likely means people who prefer to sit) are disproportionately represented thus skewing results. This doesn’t necessarily represent the true clientele on a match day.

That’s encouraging. Sunday with a packed end behind a goal, which no doubt was a boost to the team, should evidence the marginal gain partisan home support can generate - reassuring to hear the club might consider changing things.

Was that after banning England flags at the Cardiff game?

Either that or about the banning of an ‘East End Ultras’ flag on a St. George’s cross

  22. The club don’t want it. They (wrongly) associate atmosphere with trouble. They’d much rather win “family club of the year” or “best social media in the EFL” than us be known for AG being vociferous and atmospheric.

They had a unique opportunity to design the layout of the ground to suit everyone - and if they truly wanted atmosphere they’d have put home fans in the Atyeo with away fans in the nearest adjacent corner of the Dolman/Lansdown.

This tweet (in the context of what this was about) should remind people about what the hierarchy really think..
