  1. I see Joe Joyce is apparently fighting Ian Lewison so it could be that. Would like it to be Haye fighting on the same card..
  2. Few rumours of fights in the US combined with this fight and Fury vs Parker could open the division right up for 2018. Wilder vs Ortiz and Miller vs Stiverne I read could be happening in November.
  3. Interesting.. says to me ticket sales are poor as rumoured - wonder how this model will work? YouTube don't make you pay for content so are they relying on ad revenue here? If it's a live-stream I wonder how many viewers it'll get.
  4. I hope it happens, Hughie in particular needs to be fighting - I feel he's got a chance in this one too. I can see a narrative happening whereby Hughie wins, fights Joshua next year who knocks him out. Tyson is there watching, his ban since lifted, and charges into the ring post-fight to announce his un-retirement and calls Joshua out to have revenge for his cousin! Would love that to see Tyson back anyway..
  5. Saw that fight - albeit half asleep - Badou Jack relentless at the end. The Davis fight was also a good watch, didn't look as good as usual though and his opponent was pretty durable. Davis is good to watch, fast, powerful and still very young.
  6. Hmm I think Floyd went easier on him for a few rounds to make the match more of a spectacle. Mayweather threw about 12 punches in the first 2 rounds. Even at that intensity - it's a bit embarrassing Conor gassed out so early. I thought he'd been working on his cardio. I doubt there'll be a rematch, when the dust settles people will realise Mayweather was in control ultimately. 50-0 is a nice round number for Mayweather to retire on. I think there's a far better chance of Conor fighting Paulie; that's a marketable fight.
  7. That's what I meant by levels in boxing. Mayweather's experience and skill showed. McGregor made a good go of it for the first few rounds but he'd never be able to maintain that. Nice counter uppercut on Floyd early on but after Mayweather worked out McGregor's style he just let him tire himself out.
  8. Respectable showing by McGregor but he was never going to be able to maintain that pace. Floyd's quality and guile showed in the end. I have a suspicion Mayweather went easy for the early rounds to make it more of a spectacle.
  9. Thanks that's was a really interesting read and watch. Enjoyed that.
  10. I haven't - will check him out. Will have a read of that now, thanks!
  11. Of course he has a 'chance' - in theory anyone has a chance. At the top level of sport, especially one with such a specialist skill set and 1v1 competition like Boxing or Tennis, there are levels and it'll show tonight I reckon. It's totally different to football where a team can overachieve like Leicester did. I've watched this guy a few times and enjoyed his analysis. Good one here about the weigh in
  12. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't it you who argued on this thread a few months back that he did have a legit chance?
  13. I'll be betting on that. Probably do Floyd win by any means (poor return but pretty much a banker) Floyd win by KO/TKO in the 6th/7th/8th - think the accumulation of punches will get to McGregor by that point and then McGregor win by KO RD1 in case the unthinkable happens and he gets a freak knockout like the Aldo fight.
  14. According to Dana White.. it's not the cheap tickets that aren't selling, it's not the highest price tickets that aren't selling but the middling price tickets. Apparently there was also empty seats at Mayweather Pacquiao according to Dana. On course to break gate receipt records but PPV record in the balance apparently.
  15. Very impressive, seems to have the whole package. Enjoyable to watch too. Lots of traction about Lomachenko fighting Rigondeaux in early December. Would love to see that. Browne would be another good fight for Whyte, feel he needs one more against at top 10/15 standard fighter before staking a real claim for the likes of Wilder or even a Joshua rematch which sounds like it could happen at some point.
  16. Saw the Crawford fight - very impressive. Rumours he wants to move up in weight which would be interesting. Saw the Whyte fight too - solid win, very easy for him though. I like Dillian White and how he's prepared to fight anyone. Would like to see him fight Jarrell Miller next, interesting fight with two very tough (but perhaps not the most technically gifted) fighters. Would like to see the winner of that fight go on to face Wilder. Fight week for McGregor vs Mayweather - I will watch the weigh in which may end up being a better spectacle than the actual fight. McGregor looking quite gaunt after cutting weight. I imagine he'll blow up to 170+ for fight night.
  17. Paulie confirmed on MMA Hour that he wants to fight McGregor next St. Patrick's day. Hope that happens - would be interesting.
  18. Don't think that's true. Impression I get is that most are willing to give him and the team a chance. A bad run like last season though and that'll quickly change.
  19. Agree - at first I thought it was a legit knockdown but then I saw the same clip you posted and it's a does look like there was some untoward contact. It looks and sounds like, Paulie said this himself, McGregor did well in the sparring. Doing well vs an out of shape Paulie is totally different to Mayweather though, even at 40. Would be very interesting to see the full 12 rounds. Paulie's contradicted himself a few times on how many rounds he 'won', it's gradually crept up as more leaks have come out.
  20. We've got 2 wingers. Brownhill and Paterson aren't strictly wingers but midfielders who can play wide. We don't really have that many at all.
  21. We can't just disregard the issues from last season. It's largely the same group of players and the same manager. It does seem to be a bit of a recurring issue with our side under Johnson.
  22. Not sure why you're being so pedantic.. it was pretty obvious what I was saying. It's a competitive division and we'll lose tight games.
  23. I agree, would love us to go for Jackson Irvine who got a goal and a red card for Burton today.
  24. Didn't watch the game, and no I wasn't 'joking'. Squad wise they're a decent side, doesn't really matter how they did or didn't play today in isolation.
