  1. Yes, I will be. Certainly carries more jeopardy for AJ now after Ngannou's performance v Fury. Think Zhang will have too much for Parker. My usual moan; why are the fights on so late? About 2am time Saudi and 11.30pm UK. If they want to increase the popularity of boxing then make it make sense.
  2. Could make a negative impact too given it'll be the hierarchy making the decision. In fact, history would suggest it's more likely their new hire would be crap than any good.
  3. It's rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic until there's a change in the hierarchy.
  4. In your opinion. And then what? You've got rid of Manning, what's your plan? A fool's errand I'm afraid.
  5. Then sadly you continue to miss the point & reason as to why we will continue to underachieve.
  6. @italian dave you're certainly not wrong. Just been on the school run with an exiled Ipswich fan and the first thing he said after taking the piss was if McKenna goes in the summer they will have Manning. He said we were one of the most organised teams to play at PR this season and were the better team for 70 minutes. It may seem odd to us, but hey Ipswich have an actual board and what appears to be a competent footballing structure (and yes I'm afraid I include MA in that). So why wouldn't they think a coach like Manning could succeed there, just like McKenna has?
  7. But this is part of the problem. By having no respectable and competent support structure within the club we rule ourselves out of younger, upcoming coaches succeeding here. And given the fact we aren't an ex-Prem club with parachute payments, one route to success is by appointing the next bright thing in the game early. We aren't going to be able to go and get an experienced coach that is in their prime with promotions to the Prem on their CV, as they will always go to Prem clubs or Championship ones with parachute payments. Whilst both Wilson and Pearson were indeed experienced managers, they were certainly not in their prime. And I think that is ultimately reflected in the fact that whilst both can be considered to have had a positive impact, both ultimately fell short of true success.
  8. Both times the problem is the structure behind the manager. McInnes knew he was out of his depth and asked for help from the board and got none. Albeit in Scotland, McInnes has gone on to have a good career in management. SOD seems to have had similar problems to Manning in style of play. SODs Donny teams were superb and great to watch. Despite some trying to diminish his previous achievements, Manning got both MK Dons and Oxford playing very attractive, attacking football. He was "fairly hot property" as you describe and likely would have been picked up by another Cship club this season, if not us. The problem is both were/are operating in an empty vessel. Behind the scenes there's no structure, no plan, and frankly a couple of people out of their depth in the most senior positions. It's the same as it was 10 years ago, and it's just become completely laughable.
  9. Duff may well be a sensible appointment, which is exactly why it won't happen. He's a protégé of Steve Cotterill too, another reason it won't happen. I think he's a really good manager though.
  10. Yawn. I've been saying this for years. Glad everyone else has now seen the light though. Quick one to cheer everyone up: the last time Jon was left in charge was the McInnes and SOD days (both were his picks) which ultimately ended in relegation from the Championship. Same may well happen again.
  11. No, there's plenty of sensible voices out there but I don't believe they phone-in/want to appear on pods. Not for everyone I guess, but when you see some giving pelters to others for being on shows then it seems a bit hypocritical.
  12. Done it plenty of times before but trickier now with young kids. It does puzzle me that we don't hear more new voices on there, particularly the more vocal on social media...
  13. I appreciate all of that and it was an observation applicable to the host as much as the guests. I just think if Steve L is listening to that tonight over on Tracy Island he'll be quietly satisfied that once again the head coach is acting as a lightning rod for criticism.
  14. There's no speculation about who appointed LM, or who has been running the club for 20+ years. Plenty of the conversation was speculation and opinion as to what was going wrong on the pitch, so absolutely somebody could have flagged up the actual root cause of the problems.
  15. Didn't hear anything on the actual cause of the problems; Jon and Brian.
  16. Have you heard the Cotts/Mark Ashton in David Lloyd story tho??
  17. My Swansea City supporting barman earlier reminding me they won the league Cup in 2013 and also played a Europa League QF at the Mestalla and WON . All from a standing start of being in L2 when SL took Bristol City over in 2002, when we were in L1. Underachievement
  18. Condensed Version: We need new ownership
  19. Unusually high amount of rain Aug - Jan tbf. Though with climate change that may well continue
  20. Announced by John O'Shea as Ireland's new goalkeeping coach. Which gives me a chance to re-share my Rene Gilmartin story. IT WAS FUNNY AT THE TIME OK
  21. Truro, not Taunton. That comment tho
