  1. As you can imagine, I respectfully disagree - strongly. I think (know) a large part of the reason they got rid of Nige was his inflexibility and rigidity. They certainly don't have to worry about that with Manning. It's back to Jon playing Championship Manager with his mates and Tinnion back as close as he'll ever get to the hot seat. Depressing.
  2. I think some probably underestimate just how much he (and friends) are involved in the day-to-day running of the club. And have been for 10+ years. He's certainly not doing it against his own will. At the same time I'm sure he doesn't want to be front and centre as he pretty much is now (along with Tinnion). And this has long been the dilemma of the Lansdowns. How to retain absolute control without it appearing so...hence the constant chopping and changing in strategy and personnel. They want someone like Nige with his experience and guile, but also someone malleable they can control like Manning. And the circus continues to circle... round and round we go.
  3. It's all we can do because SL runs City as a dictatorship. I remember many moons ago being in a room when Stu Rogers of the Supporters Trust asked SL if he agreed it would good to have an independent supporters voice on the City board (i.e. someone representing the Trust) to which he replied "me and Jon are supporters of the club, so we don't need anymore supporters voices". Arrogance, hubris, dismissive, and disengaged from reality.
  4. Not at the price Steve wants, no. Because guess what? He wants most, if not all, of his money back. I would rather new owners, yes. Even something like the Man U investment with help from the outside would be very welcome.
  5. No, but I wouldn't even be that bothered about this either if he was very good at what he does. But there's a fair bit of evidence that he is way out of his depth.
  6. They don't need to take any of our advice. Steve has literally put the club up for sale. It's on the market.
  7. Looks like he bought it in Next in about 2007.
  8. He doesn't understand, he doesn't care. He's also not very good at fashion design, and whilst I'm always reluctant to get personal, let's be honest - it's hardly a surprise given the way he dresses. I mean he wears some truly awful items of clothing, most recently at the Liam Manning arrival presser. I mean WTF.
  9. Difficult to put into words how much I hate this club at the moment.
  10. His transfer fee probably paid itself back with that goal against Palace. He scored a good one up at Carrow Road too which I was right behind.
  11. Problem is you aren't exactly a reliable, unbiased source of information on this because GJ humiliated you. Of course there were some players that had an axe to grind with GJ, like Cole Skuse because LJ started ahead of him, but generally GJ built a squad with great team spirit which was often more than the sum of its parts.
  12. Trundle smacks of a Steve Lansdown vanity signing.
  13. Yes, and at points where England were closer to achieving success, particularly the Rashford pen. There have been big "moments" for England in tournaments in the past and Southgate has had a couple of big ones too, which with a bit more luck could've ended very differently.
  14. Wow that's tenuous Using the same logic "if Rashford scores his penalty" and "if Kane scores his penalty", right? Fine margins.
  15. That's because they hate each other though. I quite like Belgians, especially their chocolate.
  16. And bear in mind since the introduction of the Nations League they carry even less significance.
  17. Nope. Me too. Funny watching people get worked up over an England friendly on here mind
  18. You could well be right on Murphy. But this did remind me that we have of course had an Irish Bond before - Pierce Brosnan.
  19. Taunton are playing on: March 29 April 1 April 3 April 6 April 9 April 13 April 17 April 20 And they've still got to fit in a rearranged game against Slough in there
  20. Can't agree that Gary was an "awful" man manager. You don't squeeze what he did out of a limited group of players, taking them to the top end of the Championship if your man management skills are poor. His methods were old school and I agree had a ceiling, much in the same way someone like Cotterill did. If we're looking at who maximised the potential of their careers, then let's not forget Gary made the most of his, but there's a reason Lee Trundle certainly didn't.
  21. SL has never liked the local media and the scrutiny it brings. He turned up for Geoff's last show out of respect, my guess is he probably did not want to do it at all. Since Geoff has gone he hasn't done an interview for RB, and I'd guess he never will again.
  22. There's still plenty of money to be made for SL in the Sporting Village and associated housing development that means he doesn't have to be pushed into a quick sale. I think he still has enough interest in City, both emotional and financial, that he'll stick with it for the time being.
  23. When has this ever happened though? My first City games were 94/95 against Tranmere and Derby County. Crowds of about 8,000 rattling around a more than half empty stadium. I don't recall the atmosphere being vociferous or intimidating.
  24. Strong argument that the best players in La Liga and Bundesliga are both English. Not sure we've ever been able to say that before. Plus a plethora of English talent in the Premier League. Us and France will have the two best squads in the tournament this summer.
