I've never really understood boxing. I just don't grasp the idea of punching another bloke and getting whacked back.

    What is the point? :boxing:

You clearly haven't grasped the concept at all as the 'idea' is to weaken your opponent and ultimately knock them down and NOT to get whacked back.

Brilliant sport and one of the oldest in the world, the 'sweet science'.

  2. Yeah that was impressive from Smith, that said I've never been as hot on Fielding as others have.

Needs to step it up now and get a world title shot next year. Groves is an obvious choice as a lead-up fight and a good money spinner.

I'm hoping to get tickets for Frampton v Quigg next February. Should be a cracker that.

  3. If offered a point right now, would take it in a heartbeat.

Keep unbeaten going into the next game with a little bit more rest, and go at Cardiff for a win there.

Brighton must have something about them, so worried we'll get overwhelmed.

Yeah I'd take a point all day long.

Been surprised at people all week saying they won't sustain themselves near the top and are just a mid-table outfit on a good run. Their first XI and bench look pretty strong to me.

  4. I've no idea ITN, it's your club (for your sins) so what do you think?

It seems too 'perfect' for someone to come in, pay for the UWE, clear all debts and put £Millions into the team. I just can't see it as it answers all your prayers in one go with no return. Please excuse my scepticism but it's too 'ideal' WTGR. Why would an outside person put the best part of £60M (eg: UWE, clearing the debts and £10M for players ) for no return?

I can say with a certain amount of confidence that no-one is coming in to pay for the UWE Stadium.

I've said for a few months now tho that I believe there are interested investors lurking in the background...

  5. Sooo Higgs comes out and says he knows NOTHING about the supposed consortium who are supposed to be buying r**ers, building the UWE AND investing  £Millions in the team yet their forum think it's still happening!

We're supposed to be the deluded ones aren't we?

Talk of a consortium taking Rovers over and magically delivering UWE and investing heavily in the club is off the mark.

But there are options open to Rovers and various things going on behind the scenes that may come to fruition.

I suspect a couple of their fans have heard little rumours and it's turned into Chinese whispers that something big is about to happen, when it isn't.

  6. Not expecting another goalfest tonight.

Rosler has really tightened Leeds up as their first few results demonstrate: 1-1, 1-1, 0-0.

They had just 1 shot on target in their drab goalless draw at Reading, but on the flip side they've looked difficult to break down.

Chris Wood will be leading the line, hopefully Flint can do a job on him - good test for Flint.

Despite a fair amount of positivity after Saturday's performance I thought we looked porous at the back, Brentford looked capable of scoring on every attack. 11 v 11 personally I don't think we'd have neccessarily won - it could've finished 4 - 4.

You know what to expect with Leeds, they're going to be a big, strong team. Our record against them last time we were in the C'ship was absolutely hopeless (played 6, lost 6).

That said, I think the last time I saw Leeds at AG in a midweek game we beat them in the Coca Cola League Cup 2-1. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink scored then got sent off. Leeds line-up that night included Martyn, Bowyer, Wetherall, Radebe and Alfe Inge Haaland! Was 1997 - Goodridge and oooo Shaun Taylor for us!

    1-1 tonight.

  7. To think, they were gonna do up the Mem to 15k how many years ago?

Surely it would be preferable to revisit those plans than to literally lose the one peice of security the club has?

Unfortunately most of their usually intellectually challenged fans on 'Gas Shat' seem to have realised this...

If this happened Basement Rovers would effectively be renting off a charity. They will have finally found their level...

  8. Not sure it would be in their interest, certainly wouldn't do their image any good.

I bet they're pissed off mind, they could have had their 5k stadium built by now.

Next steps - sags try and muscle in on Clifton RFCs plans at Cribbs, although I've been too in all likelihood the huge car park at the men will be sold and a new stand built

Car park sold for housing to fund a new stand and you'd be on the money I reckon... ;)

  9. This bit from the evil post is intriguing: "Even if the club was to win on appeal, they would only be awarded damages instead of the multinational being forced to buy the Memorial Stadium." If this is the case; then regardless of the UWE's position, the project is dead in the water as of now.

Absolutely right. I mean in reality I would suggest the project has been dead for a while but that's the first time I've seen it "confirmed". Be interested to know where The Post got this from.

Could the appeal court judge not order performance of contract?
