Those 2 comments do not make sense, a good manager does not allow such things to occur.

Well both had a massive falling out with him...words were spoken and Tomlin was dropped. GoN has a calf injury 'apparently'...he did the right thing and nipped it in the bud. to say such things don't occur to a 'good manager' is not true EMB...it happens to every manager. Tempers flair...then it's worked out, or not. It's the nature of the game...it's happened with all the top managers. It's how you deal with it.

And either the system is flawed , LJ doesn't have the ability to coach it , or the players are p'd off and not listening / lost interest

GoN and Tomlin have too much influence in the changing room imo mate.

Nothing wrong with LJ imo...just some players are just not good enough at this level on a consistent basis. Tomlin being the worst for this...either brilliant or a liability.

    Which ones?

I've already answered that question on this thread...

Sorry we are crying out for a right winger and he signed 2 for over 2 mil and neither can get into the team, he signed for the future and forgot the here and now and is now doing his DMC impression just realising that many of the players he has put faith into are letting him down week after week.

I think you need to qualify the shit defending remark, the defence is not the problem, it was a wayward pass from our genius player apparently under little if any pressure that led to the goal and that is the story of our season.

I've also answered that in a previous post a minute ago...but agree to a degree...fullbacks and midfield neglecting defensive duties, the problem. Plus Tomlin is a liability now.

Perhaps you should name them then?

Both fullbacks are not good enough at this level and prone to mistakes. Our midfield lacks drive to do defensive duties...Tomlin being the worst for this, as well as Freeman.

I know you're an LJ fan mate, but it sounds like you're trying to convince yourself.

Ultimately pretty much every goal conceded involves an individual player error and again I'll draw comparisons with this time last year.

He's going to have to start getting results soon.

I'm not an LJ fan perse...I support the fact that we are trying to do the right thing now...across the board. Regardless of our results at this present moment, and the frustration, I don't believe getting rid of the manager would be the answer. If he was doing the wrong thing, for the long term future of the club, I'd agree...but it's a long term strategy. Yes I'm frustrated and angry...but all this talk of changing the manager isn't going to help...it's the players, or some of them who are the problem imo...and I think we are weaker as a solid unit at the moment playing Tomlin. What has he actually done of late that has been effective that makes him undropable?

Yes.  Despite a few nay-sayers earlier in the thread, I feel this is the best team we could put out today.  A change to 4-4-2, Golbourne back in at LB, a central midfield who can both control and pass as well as hustle, and 2 skillful wingers.  Hopefully these changes bring about a better style and shape.

LJ has said it a few times in the past, but it seems to be forgotten or missed, but 442 is his preferred formation. He's obviously felt we are too weak in certain areas, to play it on a consistent basis with the players we have at this very moment in time.

  6. What a very strange day...

Probably the worst game of football I've seen in a long time. The worst referee I've seen in a long time...and the worst atmosphere I've heard down the Gate in a very long time...you could hear a pin drop at times. I actually felt depressed at half time.

I've never seen us so static...we were clueless in possession. Very few options available to pass. We seemed to be playing in straight lines instead of creating angles and space. I've never seen so many professional footballers stand so static expecting the ball to come to them... so frustrating to watch.

For me the only players that did themselves any credit today, were Mags, Flint and Tomlin to some degree.

How Korey got motm is beyond me. I don't think GON and him look good as a partnership based on this performance.

Positives... 3 points. Hearing the Gerry Gow chant again...respectful minutes silence, and a great display from Harry and the lads. Put a lump in my throat.

Hopefully this is just our blip in performance...because today the majority of players were poor in their movement and understanding.

Well I say! I'm a cartographer by trade, never thought I'd see the day the Mercator projection is explained on a match day thread.

Also annoys me when people say 'upside down' maps or those with Asia in the middle are wrong! Bloody elitists

Anyway back to reality, u redzzzzzzzzzzz 1-0

Blame it on @havanatopia ;-) Matchday threads are about being educated these days and I love it :-) COYR's

20% of Swedish people moved to Amerika between 1900-1920. It was vikings that took the first boat to America, long Before we known Before. They took slaves back home. Indians has been found in Iceland. vikings were warriors, businessmen and very good sailors. But anyway, we are in a good run and I Think we will beat Forest 2-1. Paterson winning goal. Always Believe, COYR!!!

And yet they still teach that Columbus founded America...does my head in.

    Here's something else that bugs...Quote...

Why every world map you're looking at is WRONG: Africa, China and India are distorted despite access to accurate satellite data

    • The distortion is the result of the Mercator map which was created in 1596 to help sailors navigate the world
    • It gives the right shapes of countries but at the cost of distorting sizes in favour of the wealthy lands to the north
    • For instance, north America looks larger, or at least as big, as Africa, and Greenland also looks of comparable size
    • In reality, you can fit north America into Africa and still have space for India, Argentina, Tunisia and some left over
    • Map suggests Scandinavian countries are larger than India, whereas in reality India is three times the size
    • The biggest challenge for cartographers is that it is impossible to portray reality of spherical world on a flat map

Take a look at a map today, and you’re likely to see that North America is larger than Africa, Alaska is larger than Mexico and China is smaller than Greenland.

But in reality China is four times bigger than Greenland, Africa is three times bigger than North America and Mexico is larger than Alaska.

The distortion is the result of the Mercator projection, the map most commonly seen hanging in classrooms and in text books, which was created in 1596 to help sailors navigate the world.

  9. Looking forward to this game...I wasn't going, but circumstances have changed and I can now make it. :-)

Like you say, Forest have always been one of our bogey teams...but I feel an upturn in fortunes now. Like we did against Leeds...another bogey team...under LJ I hope we will put our past to bed.

Those European nights in 79, 80 must have been such a thrill for Forest fans. Nearly 40 years ago now...Can section 82 remind them, that they used to be famous ;-)

Can't deny it was a great achievement though...Peter Taylor and Brian Clough...Genius's of the time.

Would have taken a draw at the beginning of the season, but after the positive ground out result against Leeds, I've raised my expectations. COYR's

I still do not think it is too much to ask to see a massive improvement in recruitment this summer in view of the shambles that took place last summer. Also I think we should not go on about us being a small fish. We need to start talking up the club and it's potential to attract the higher calibre players we need to progress.

I agree their should be an improvement...it couldn't be any worse than last summer.

As for bigging up the club...SL and MA have done so in recent months and got shot down in flames for doing so.

    Can't win it seems.

  11. I hope fans are also realistic...regardless of our Stadium, dreams, hopes, future plans, new manager, new scouts, new recruitment people etc, etc...however good they are...however much we plan to be better...we are still little ol' Bristol City...Un proven in this division. We are a small fish in a huge pond and trying to compete with other clubs is still going to be hard.

Players like Tomlin and Baker may come here on loan, to get first team football...but trying to sign them full time onto a 3 year contract is a completely different ball game...and that is regardless of who the manager is and his recruitment team.

We are who we are...an unfashionable club with no real history of achievement.

    It's going to be hard.

My only worry is that after our summer of inactivity, the pendulum will swing the other way and we'll make tons of panic buys. If we can keep the core of our team, and hang on to some of our better performers this season, whilst making a few additions, that could work better. Tame our ambition a bit, be realistic but aspire for OH DAMN IT ROTHERHAM.

That won't happen mate...can see us being very shrewd.

One thing Cotts said that was spot on, although perhaps not politik to express it before the season began, was that we cannot compete with the top sides in this division.

We have had ample evidence of the two tier nature of the Championship.  This is yet more....

Totally agree...You've only got to look at the GD of the top five and compare that with the rest of the league.

Calm down mate, if you'd been at wolves tuesday you wouldn't have been confident of them winning another game this season.

I am calm fella...it's many others who over react after each game who are not.

We had a bad game at wolves...so what...it happens. as it does to every team in this league.

It's the over reaction of fans after every game that's infuriating...we win one game and it's ok...we lose one game, and we are relegated and LJ is the worst thing since sliced bread.

We could go down...we could stay up.

Teams around us are fighting for their lives too...it's all to play for.

One positive, as the thread I posted earlier shows...we are top of the league in recent away form...so we are heading in the right direction.

Get. The vibe that LJ is losing patience with Jk. And LF :noexp:

I think you maybe right fella...as I said in a previous thread yesterday, I don't think LF is his type of player, unless he can learn to give the ball quicker.

Plus he was very quick to point out JK's lack of understanding...can't knock how many he's scored though...can only improve imo.
