  1. Agreed...it's his voice, not a technical issue as I pointed out.
  2. Agreed...anyone thinking it's the Mic is clueless. This far into a set the monitors would have picked up on any technical fault or volume.
  3. I'm feeling perfectly chipper...loving life. People laugh...but in doing so look completely clueless. The band's of today that are worthy, all took their influences from past musicians. Bring it back to today. Lead singer of the Blossoms said his mother introduced him to the Smiths, saw them twice and played their music. Oasis...the Beatles etc etc etc. My point being...how many bands have sighted or been influenced by recent bands. I'm pointing out the obvious. Anyone who plays an instrument will know there is only so many chords, notes , patterns that work to the human ear. Everything will be covered...and it probably already has been. Unless we go on alternate dimension. Music like nature has structure.
  4. Are they? Funny how I hear often from young en's that they wished they'd lived through the 60s,70s and 80s and experienced the music and culture live.
  5. I think you may need that, not me...I'm getting the best ever feeling of living through decades of music that were phenomenal, listening and appreciating over and over again, going through back catalogues...finding old gems...finding the occasional new gems...I'm so so happy I grew up when I did. But hey...thanks for your concern ???
  6. The 80s phenomenon in recent years has been massive. It underlines how so many generes of music we had back then. Even the Stock Aitkin Waterman types...however the likes of Astley and Kylie evolved for the better. A lot of it also comes down to image... We all wanted to emulate an artist...look up to them. Right now...all I see is a bunch of people singing songs that could have just walked out of McDonald's. Hardly inspirational or something to aspire to. Rock n Roll was often out of reach...right now it's hardly that. Just watching GNRs...great in their day...but it's now like watching a bad dad dancing competition at a wedding...some things don't age well. Difficult when your overweight and trying to replicate the good old days of your genre...but it just looks so ewwwww. Then you get bands like Crowded House/ Neil Finn who just stand there...grow old gracefully, and let the music do the talking. Hard when you're a full on rock band. Guess the Stones are the last the nail still looking and sounding the part.
  7. I get that...but going by hindsight and what we know...who do you think will stand the test of time?
  8. It's an interesting phenomenon...there are so many chords and notes you can play. Most have been covered. Replicated. As more time goes by, the less anything has been covered. As Hollis noted...Silence between notes has a massive impact. If you can't play a note properly...don't play it. Music because of its ' science and maths' really only has so many endings...unless you go really ' out their'...however our brains compute with certain patterns. So it's not indefinite. Music like most things we know is at it limits because of structure.
  9. So name some...Lizzo being here in 30 years time or even covered or even being quoted as an inspiration...apart from munching on MacDonalds and relying on others to do it for her. I didn't think the bands I watched in the 80s and 90s would be so respected...but this current crop are so manufactured.
  10. Without sounding like an old fart and enjoying some of the ' older bands' at Glastonbury, and the likes of Marr, the Pretenders, Astley and the Blossoms covering the Smiths, Manics, FFs,...I'd love to know what recent acts will be at Glastonbury or covered in 30/40 years time...I'm struggling to see any.
  11. Great song...sadly I'm a bit of a nerd re Talk Talk and Hollis. So underated by the masses, but so admired by bands. Webb and Harris are immense. Hollis a musical phenomenon that ruffled so many feathers. Tim Freisse Green the underlying influence on later music. Get past three minutes and this concert is worth a watch.
  12. I'm jealous of that over whelming feeling you get when listening to that piece of work after a while. Enjoy...it's a work of genius ? I've only seen him the once...the ultimate Duracell bunny ?
  13. I've seen them a couple times. Hard working band. Old school.
  14. Great set. Respect to both Rick and the Blossoms for creating the Smiths music with such love and affection.
  15. @AshtonGreat...you may laugh at my post. Elton John was one of the last of his generation to rely on his vocal talent...and yes...he is a remarkable talent. But it's well known in the industry he uses Autotune in live performances, especially after his vocal operation.
  16. Technology is a fantastic thing at live concerts when vocalists have lost their voice.
  17. Like I said...like Art...it's individual. But put Mark Hollis and AMs in same sentence is sacralidge. I think over time you'll see it. AM don't come under ' thinking man's music ' however way you look at it. They just stand out right now as there is **** all mainstream that's ' different '.
  18. With respect...like Art...it's individual. But they are pretentious crap...trying to be what you say. It has no substance. Many before them adhere to what you crave...they are just cheap wannabes. They are in the same bracket as the Kaiser Chiefs...been around for ages, and no one knows any difference. Shocking. If you want thinking man's music check out later Talk Talk and Mark Hollis. You won't regret it. Arctic monkeys are riding a wave of mediocrity in the industry.
  19. Yes fantastic back catalogue I agree. The crowd will carry it. Have they confirmed his guests? I heard a few rumours it could be Kate Bush!
  20. I'm glad others have heard what I do with the Arctic Monkeys... It's Vic Reeves as the pub singer...always has been. Totally overacted band imo. And if you think that's bad, you'll have your mind blown by Elton John...totally past it now. This is him now...
  21. They are fantastic live and have an awesome back catalogue. Millionaires is one of the most underrated albums ever....it's so good. Enjoy.
  22. I can see JL out with his tracing paper, copying his next Robin with a connection to Bristol and Ashton Gate.. https://shop.newsthump.com/product/del-boy-and-rodney-as-batman-and-robin-t-shirt/
  23. This what the club are using... https://countyturf.co.uk/hero-hybrid-grass-1/
  24. Highly aggressive and territorial, that sweet song fluting from your fence is actually the avian equivalent of a foul-mouthed “get orf my land”. Males will peck at rivals’ napes to sever their spinal cords; 10% of all adult robin deaths are robin-on-robin, red-on-red incidents. They also launch unprovoked attacks on other, innocent species, lashing out with razor-sharp claws. One of the most aggressive birds you could meet... the truth about the friendly robin redbreast Robins will even fight to the death if necessary — thankfully most intruders can be deterred through song
