  1. I know a lad that spent a fortune on Stone Island. He doesn't even like football. I used to take the piss out of him and say he looked like a football hooligan. I saw him this week wearing the same garb, but with the badge removed. I commented on it...he's met a girl, got engaged etc...he said ' yeah I know mate, I've grown up' made me smile.
  2. Exactly. Just inate annoying noise that actually kills natural atmosphere to build.
  3. A stone Island is more Seiko imo ?
  4. Mate...I've been following City since the 70s. Air horns have never been seen as something that enhance an atmosphere. I've sat in stadiums where air horns were used all the time, Speedway and Moto X...it's just noise. Exactly why everyone hated the 2010 world cup in South Africa...with the vuvuzelas...inate white noise. It's brain dead, not boring. An atmosphere is the crowd singing and chanting. Not a freaking air horn ????
  5. SoD and Amy Kington had a huge influence on the progress of the Academy. Both imo, were under valued, and treated poorly at times, especially the latter under MA. Whilst in latter years others have had a major influence, it's all been done under the guidance and influence of BT. FGR came along not so long ago offering a position. It was considered. We acted. However if a Prem team came along and offered big money for his services, it wouldn't surprise me. He's done miracles imo.
  6. Funnily this happened in Elkwater just up the road from Med Hat, when I was teaching.?
  7. Loads do...even the young ens, as they are seen as a statement piece. You've only got to look at a jewelers to still see ranks of watches. The likes of Rolex, Omega, Breitling etc etc are still promoted, even to the young ens.
  8. It was...when I told the kids to meet at a point after lunch, I'd say meet at 12..45. Or quarter to one. They'd look at me like I was an alien
  9. 3.35...used to be 5 and 20 to 4 when I was a kid ??
  10. ....and one that we should lock in with a huge wage. Just so he doesn't get poached. Brian Tinnion. His work getting these kids up to Championship level and more, in a very short space of time is phenomenal. It won't go unnoticed.
  11. You have a point...I'm actually born in that 13th month. ??
  12. I'm not sure...that's why I'm asking. None of the parents of the kids I taught were feral. And the bar staff member is well educated and knowledgeable on other aspects. I was taught at primary school. It was normal...and we did have digital watches being introduced when I was a kid. I just find it a more common experience...and when a BBC football pundit can't tell the time, I find that rather astonishing.
  13. But it's not obsolete fellow red. Clock faces are everywhere...watches still a fashionable accessory, especially expensive ones...clock faces in towns, villages, homes and as in this case, Football grounds ? I've found it really common. Happened to me only last week again, with a bar staff member... literally didn't have a clue how to read a clock.
  14. Made me laugh, in an ironic sad way...Betty Glover reporting on the Fulham game on BBC, looking at the clock and can't grasp the time straight away ???? Seems to be a very common theme with the younger generation. Can't read a clock. Do they not teach this in schools anymore? I had this problem when teaching kids in Canada...didn't think it would become common here ??
  15. Seriously...it's the worst thing for creating an atmosphere . It's just brain dead innate noise, for the sake of noise. It's like sitting in front of a radio with white noise and saying...wow what an atmosphere. Seriously I couldn't think of anything worse. I'm honestly intrigued...why would anyone think noise from a high pressurised air container, would make for a good atmosphere? Just for you...10 hours of it. ??
  16. The story of the Cotswold whisky is something looking into. They got in an old chap from Scotland who'd been making whisky the traditional way all his life. Sadly past away now. Using non chilled filter method is so much better. You keep all the flavour...which is what you get with the Cotswold. I've done a lot of distillery tours in Scotland, the owners of the bigger ones have ruined them on many occasions. Often Japanese investment. As soon as they use chill filtered imo, it ruins the taste.
  17. Yes, that's the one thing I picked up on with NP....saying any forward would have to be able to our high intensity. This where I wonder where Palmer Holden would fit in the future.

  19. My go to red wine is Primitivo. If anyone hasn't tried it, I can highly recommend. Some decent deals in Waitrose on theirs. Raffles fine wines in Nailsworth do some fantastic small vineyard Primitivo for around £12. https://www.vivino.com/toplists/top-25-southern-italy-primitivo-wines-right-now-global Something that doesn't happen very often. Woodchester valley vineyard near Nailsworth won the best Savvy Blanc in the world this year, in the £20-£30 category. Masters medal. It's rather yum. The Orpheus Bacchus is also excellent. Worth a trip. https://www.woodchestervalleyvineyard.co.uk/shop And if you like single malt whisky...I can't recommend this whisky enough. It's often reduced to £30. It's award winning and knocks socks off most Scottish Single malts in that price category. Everyone I've recommended it to, loves it. Sold in Tesco and Waitrose. https://www.cotswoldsdistillery.com/products/cotswolds-signature-single-malt-whisky
  20. Dublin has been expensive for years. Yet the bars are always rammed. It's the overheads that are killing pubs. A mate of mine runs a boutique hotel/ bar. Approx £700 a week in electric. Nuts. I notice the Britannia is Nailsworth is shutting this week. Overheads again being the force to close.
  21. I do find the ratings a bit iffy...as like Art, it's all down to personal taste.
  22. Yep....on my chips! ??? In all seriousness prices on wines and spirits have gone through the roof. Your often better off buying the whole bottle than by the glass if there are a couple of you. In use a free App...vivino. You can take a photo of the label, and the App will tell you everything about the wine. Chain pubs tend to buy wine that's approx £4 a bottle. The duty on it makes the wine worth pence in reality. I drink whisky..my local does a double single malt for £5. Glenlivet this week. Pub down the road charged me £11 for a single shot of Talisker ?? safe to say I won't be going in there again.
  23. Not far wrong. Vince gave £10k to the just stop oil group based in Stroud.
  24. It maybe...as I'm the same. Bread and pasta in France and Italy. No problem. Here it's a lottery.
