  1. Honest question...does anyone not think this goes on in football at many many clubs across the world? We only talk about it, when there are investigations. Surely we attend games and pay for our subscriptions knowing full well corruption is most likely a common theme throughout the sport. The same with Government. We know they are all corrupt yet we keep voting for them. Surely no one is surprised? The rich get richer...get found out, often get away with it, or a slap on the wrist, tomorrows chip paper...whilst the fan or voter moans about it, knowing deep down it goes on, yet continues to support it. ? Funny ol' world.
  2. We can all see the obvious technical skill, awareness, timing, spacial awareness, weight of pass, movement etc...but there is one thing that really sticks out for me...and that's how he shapes his body to receive and move, not only in possession but out of it as well. He uses it to create space for himself, which in turn creates extra time. He also uses so well to protect the ball...in doing so he either creates space for himself or draws a foul. The move he did yesterday in the lead up to the perfectly weighted ball down the channel to Wells...note how after beating the defender, he cuts inside across the defender, blocking any tackle, and if there is one, it would lead to a foul. He does this time and time again. It's a very special quality. I'd love to know whether he was doing this whilst at Guernsey or whether it's something he's picked up whilst being coached in the U23s. Stunning player.
  3. Maybe...who knows. Relying on people you trust is a good thing, but when the buck stops with you and not them, you still have to do your due diligence. Otherwise it's you who gets the backlash if it goes wrong, not them. ?
  4. I've always taken it with a punch of salt when managers say they aren't involved in bringing players in. Of course the scouts, analysts, CEO and agents do their bit prior to signing, but the majority of managers will meet with player and his agent before signing. It's only natural to do this. It's due diligence. You've got to get on with one another, sell your intentions to the player, how they fit in to your plans, sell the playing ethos etc etc etc. The player also has to sell himself to the manager. Agents can made a turd sound shiny. Imagine the furore if a player was hopeless, fell out with the manager pretty much straight away, and it became apparent they'd never met before signing? Or in some cases the CEO or owner has told a manager he has to have a player, even if he doesn't want him.... It happens as we know. It just makes all involved look like mugs.
  5. Is he playing Centre Back when he came on?
  6. I haven't read all the thread, but agree on what you say re Pearson. However...I think a massive influence on whether to come here or not, comes down to people you trust and know. Harry mentions speaking to Naismith over a period of time. As a player here, he would tell it like it is. Managers have reputations, but first hand info you can trust from people you know has massive influence. I wonder how many we have in the squad, that would give glowing reports to perspective buys, with positive influence over the managers reputation.
  7. First game is against Monaco. Bet he'll be right up for that game.
  8. It'll be full of Journos hanging around and snooping. Isn't the HPC where they do the medicals?
  9. Even more impressive...he coaches in both English and French. Quite amusing video with the English thrown in.
  10. ... there's hope for you yet. Quite an incredible story Will Still. A 30 year old manager of League 1 Reims in France. Youngest manager in Europe. Played FM all through his teens, got into analytics. Ended up impressing a manager with his knowledge. Ended up managing Reims sacked their manager. Has managed 12 games, W6 D6 L0 Gf 20 GA 5 Last game held PSG to 1-1 draw. No pro licence. So Reims get fined 25,000 euros every time he manages a game. That's the condensed version. It really is an incredible journey and story. https://www.sportsjoe.ie/amp/football/reims-will-still-281719 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Still_(football_manager)
  11. The way he opens and positions his body when receiving the ball is exceptional. It enables him to control perfectly, to give himself more time, to compose...then the perfectly weighted pass. Clever use of body when drawing fouls as well. He could be a huge star on this trajectory. He's one of the best players we've ever had imo.
  12. The move to midfield has definitely helped. I do wonder with hindsight, whether NP regrets not trusting 4 at the back earlier in the season. He said in the past that we didn't have the players to play with a back 4 system...yet we are playing with the very same players, and injuries. It's the one major thing he may have got wrong this season. We would have been further up the table if we had played like we have this past month with 4 at the back.
  13. I just saw that as well...bloody marvelous stuff. How proud must Micky be. And us fans feel the emotion as well. I can watch this all day long. The movement and speed across the defender is superb... something more mature don't do. Match it with the cross...it's perfect.
  14. I'm not sure what that has to do with it...sounds like ' my dad is bigger than your dad' mentality ?? You might as well bring back wooden rattles if you're going down that route ?
  15. Cheers for the heads up. Appreciated ?
  16. Some do, some don't I guess. There are numerous very wealthy people that haven't given anything to their kids, for the same reason you say. I agree to some extent. If I could give a roof over my kids head, so they didn't have a mortgage, before dieing, I would. But, giving them so much that they would never have to work or be creative, is another thing. ?
  17. Close to £1k A lot of the stuff the kids at grounds wear is knock off Turkish fake.
  18. However, as humans we use time in Science. It has to be precise for certain elements to work. Say for example, flying to the moon and getting times exact. But then you get the opposite. It wasn't that long ago that the Inuit people had worked out by sight, that the world's axis had shifted. They contacted NASA...for all their science they hadn't noticed. The Inuit 'elders' were correct. Showing everyone on earth uses ' time' differently. For anyone who hasn't heard of this... https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/inuit-elders-tell-nasa-earth-axis-shifted-shellie-l-robinson
  19. Undoubtedly...and I agree. But money talks, and if it's enough to set say his son up for life, then it would surely be considered. However...if you love your job, which I'm sure he does, as he works silly hours, then that counts for so much. Waking up and being excited to go to work is a privilege these days.
  20. Yes she certainly came across as an excited fan. It was refreshing.
  21. I guess it depends on how long a contract is, and how much it's worth. If something came along that could set his family up for life, then who knows.
  22. Can you imagine... 96th minute into 7 mins of extra time. Opposition break and score. NP....Belly...why didn't you take it into the corner? SB...I didn't know how much time there was left in the game. NP.... there's a bloody big clock on the corner you were looking at. SB....I can't read clock Boss. NP....Tinners...come and see me Monday morning we need a chat ????
  23. Tbh...the quality isn't bad. But at the end of the day, it's just a plain black jacket...with a badge attached ????
