So do Pompey. Premier League and an FA Cup Final recently, ish. But are they bigger than us? Restricted home capacity and competition from Saints locally.

Bolton have suffered from overspending when they were overachieving under Big Sam. Another in the shadow of Manchester.

Wigan are ex Premier League and won the FA Cup.

What makes us a bigger club than any of these? I'd say that potentially were bigger than all of them.

    Just potentially though

Yeah , we’ve had potential for 130 years near enough . Means nothing

I’ve just read their forum and from before our goal, they were demanding manager be sacked and a complete overhaul of their board. 2nd in the table, probably will go up…puts Otib into perspective when we gain an L. Modern day football fans eh ffs!

Not really . They’ve won the prem & FA  cup in the last ten years , it’s all relative . They should never of got relegated with the squad they had. They were pissing the league a few weeks ago & now could be heading for the play offs & the knock on from that if they don’t go up

Just give him a summer. This endless desire to chop and change benefits no one. He's been here 5 minutes. At one stage, wasn't it against West Brom few seasons back near to Christmas, the fans were baying for Pearsons head. Its getting boring now.

To be fair. The vast majority would have been happy for nige to get another three years to keep building , so I don’t think fans in general want to chop & change . It’s good to have stability. Unfortunately for manning , he’s come to a club with a largely pissed off fanbase & he’s hardly hit the ground running. Plus the ridiculous statements from the club did nothing but heap undue pressure on him.

I'm no football tactician - there are folks on here far better placed to talk of such things than me but nairy a pass sideways across the back today in comparison to how it's been alot in recent (especially home games) times - seemed to be more positive movement to receive balls and push forwards - thought Pring and Roberts worked well and dare I say I really enjoyed today's game - just need to "back it up" in the next few games and who knows - I'm not convinced by Manning but fair play today.

It was nice to see us be more direct & purposeful with our passing . We passed through them a lot more than recently . Ok sides will be more compact in midfield as we’ve seen with the recent defeats . The intent was there though , which has been missing .

Derby are significantly bigger than us

    Blackpool are significantly smaller

    Basic counting fans skills

    Hope that helps

Fanbase has little to do with it . Would you class Newcastle as big a club as Liverpool because they get similar sized crowds ?

Depends if you live in the past i imagine

It’s not living in the past though is it.
Liverpool , Man Utd, Arsenal are massive because they’ve won dozens of trophy’s over decades . Therefore history defines them as huge clubs . If you lived in the past & took their trophy’s away they wouldn’t be as big as they are would they.

Think you would be hard pressed to find someone who says Blackpool are a bigger club than city dispite their history

Ok  that’s  one club . At least they have a history of achievement

Ahh trophy cabinet of course makes them a much bigger club as does Huddersfield,Blackpool and Burnley

Yes. History defines a club . How can it not

Which was my point,if we had any sustained years at the top level we would be maximising out non stop as well

They’ve won the title twice , runners up three times . European cup semi finalists & won the FA cup. Apart from that , yeah we’re a bigger club

Good win both, but Saints and Leicester both in shaky form when visiting. Played both at a good time.

Leicester yes. Soton were unbeaten in about 25 games. No doubt Leicester have been on a dodgy run. This is why I enjoy the wins obviously but would rather look at a run of games . Would anyone be surprised if we got done at Plymouth ?

That's the thing who knows whether it would be for the better. He'll rightfully be given the start of next season and we'll see where we go. To achieve anything we'll need far more consistency.

At this point that worries me. Ok, he can set up against better sides all be it  a small sample size so far . But have proved today and a sided from Hampshire who we beat that he can block off but also get after & show some attacking intent . The major worry is he hasn’t shown that against bottom half clubs. This win probably means he’s cemented his job for the summer. Again a big worry is the rumours that James & williams are going plus I really don’t trust tinnion to convince players good enough to come to us . Also ,what type of players are we after ? Are we going to set up negatively next season ? If it goes tits up by November then we got a reshaped squad & another new man  coming in.

There is no logic. It doesn't matter what's gone on you never should want your team to lose.

I agree but if they think one hammering might change things for the better long term then I can understand it

Just stating what some were saying pre match.

Nobody really wants us to lose do they . They & it was only one or two thought that a hiding might get him the sack. It’s not what I’d want to see but I can understand the logic, they want what’s best long term . I , like all of us want to be proved wrong on manning & tinnion & the lansdowns because it would mean a successful club. There’s no chance of that with the lansdowns imo . It could be said that if we return to type for the rest of the season then today papered the cracks & he’s had a stay of execution. Why not contribute with a proper post of your own on manning , tinnion etc instead of childish point scoring .

Don’t put words in my mouth. I haven’t said anything of the sort about”blindly following the owners”. Quite the opposite in fact. If you really enjoyed the win then stop being so overly sensitive about a one sentence post.

I’m far from sensitive . Of course I enjoyed it. So if you’re the opposite of blindly following then you might have similar views to me . Why have a pop at people boycotting games. Instead of trying to bait people , just enjoy the win .

Hope you managed to get some DIY done today. 😃

I watched the game. If you’re happy to blindly follow the owners without question that’s fine . That’s your decision. I have my own mind & make my own decisions . We played well & I enjoyed the win . Play like that consistently & I might change my mind.

I hope all the boycotters enjoyed their visit to B&Q this afternoon.

Congratulations on being smug 🙄 From my point of view it’s against the owners & there poor decision making . Id never want the team to lose , ever.

Manning and Mehmeti are two people who are despised by so many on here - but just for today they can stick the proverbial single index figure back at those critics.

Yet again you outdo yourself posting complete bollocks . Nobody despises anyone you clown. Many of us have quite rightly questioned mannings set up , tactics  & tactical decisions or lack of during games. Mehmeti has been poor generally since he signed . I’ve accused him of not being intelligent enough . Where please tell is there any evidence of them being despised.
