  1. My first away game Dec 69 - lost to a last minute goal at Ninian Park. August 70 beating Wolves in a pre season friendly, only for Dougan to equalise just as the Ref was about to end the game. In home games in the 2007 / 08 season. In the 92nd minute City took the lead against Leicester, but only got a draw. A few weeks later, against Sheff U, City equalised in the 94th minute and still lost. More recently there was that 3-3 draw home to Sunderland and now Tuesday night at Ipswich. I'm sure many others on here know of many more instances over the last 50 years.
  2. I'll be watching Man C v Copenhagen, but not for the football. In September Copenhagen were playing in the Euro qualifying rounds and were away in East Europe. To prove they are hard, some Copen fans on the terraces removed their shirts. Some of the young Danish ladies there followed suit. Please BT Sport, show us plenty of crowd shots as the football will probably be boring all one way stuff.
  3. Preparing to have the roof cave in; Neil Warnock (yes, Colin) hasn't done too well at Aberdeen and might consider coming here short term, just as he kept Rotherham up last season. Having said this, I wouldn't want him full time though.
  4. Looking back what followed was typical City. Hull went up, came back after 2 seasons only to go up again. That same year 2013, Palace & Watford met in the Play off Final whilst City were relegated.
  5. WsM beat Chippenham 1-0 last night. In mid table now it's Taunton - Chippenham - WsM.
  6. OK, City lost again, but an improved team performance away to a team who are unbeaten at home this season. Tommy's goal; so reminiscent of Highbury in 76. Tom Richie chased a seemingly lost ball, but got it though and put it across for Cheesley to score. Tonight Mark Sykes chased a seemingly lost ball, but got it though and put it across for Tommy Conway to score.
  7. Agreed. 33 mins and I thought Ipswich were about to score, but no and then minutes later we came close. Both keepers are having the ball played back to them more than I thought they would. Considering the discussion earlier today; LM appears to have the formation and tactics right.
  8. OK folks; http://www.fawanews.com/Ipswich Town vs Bristol City.html is working for those unable to be there or watch Sky.
  9. FWIW; A televised 4-2 home defeat got rid of Fred Ford.
  10. The pub opposite the railway station welcomes visiting fans and is only 5 mins from Portman Road.
  11. Last few games Sports 10 has fallen over, but http://www.fawanews.com/ has worked. (Trouble is they keep broadcasting City defeats).
  12. Having read so much negativity on here, I looked "over the fence". https://www.twtd.co.uk/forum/577869/needs-one-of-the-big-pr-midweek-atmospheres-tonight-doesnt-it/#15 Can't have any stony-faced sitting on hands waiting for us to win this one – the opposition are too good and the stakes way too high. Going into the final 10 games with our noses still in front, and the chance to achieve something truly generational, would be absolutely huge. It'll be a tough one tonight: Bristol City's games are almost always tight and decided by a one-goal margin; they know how to trouble good teams and I think their manager will fancy a crack at this fixture too. Was very impressed with them away at West Ham a few weeks back. It'd be nice to have one of Burns and Broadhead on the bench to mix things up a bit if we need because I don't think we're about to have anything handed to us. Time to crank up the volume and roar us towards something special – we'll regret it if we don't. If it's a sticky game against obdurate opposition, it's important that the crowd don't start groaning at every misplaced pass if things don't go our way. But that's hard to control as the stress of this amazing season rises. They also looked very good when they beat Southampton 3-1. One of a bunch of about x8 sides outside the top 4 who look excellent on their day, but can’t string any consistency together. No result would surprise me tonight, it will largely depend on which version of Bristol City turn up. I fancy it will be another rollercoaster that’s hanging in the balance after 85 mins. Been so many of them this season, not sure I can survive many more.
  13. And now five months later some posters are bemoaning the new manager and want to go back.
  14. Dennis Healey; On debating with Geoffrey Howe:
  15. In America, the fixture list for assorted sports is produced and "We're all in showbiz, so the show must go on" regardless of weather & injuries. Last season at one game the home fans were asking "Who's that"? It was the club's 5th choice player for that position.Kick off and dates are not changed just for TV.
  16. Agreed. QPR won away again, this time at Leicester and both Stoke and Sheff W won again
  17. Their forum is already discussing the game. https://www.twtd.co.uk/forum/577751/fill-the-*******-place-on-tuesday/#2 I know the kids have to get up for school, I know for some it's a long midweek journey, but this team and manager have earned us making a few sacrifices. PS: I appreciate we do fill the place most weeks and there are only a few pockets of tickets left for Bristol City, but the point stands.
  18. Meanwhile in the Lowland League the top 7 are; Pos Club P W D L F A GD Pts 1 East Kilbride 27 21 3 3 81 38 43 66 2 Cumbernauld Colts 27 16 6 5 57 32 25 54 3 Bo’ness United 28 17 3 8 59 40 19 54 4 Heart of Midlothian B 27 15 6 6 74 34 40 51 5 Tranent 25 15 4 6 57 27 30 49 6 Celtic B 27 14 4 9 66 37 29 46 7 Linlithgow Rose 26 12 7 7 56 33 23 43 The winners play off H&A against the Highland champions. The winner of that game play off H&A against the bottom team in League 2 for the right to be in the Scottish league next season. Meanwhile at the foot of the Lowland league; 17 Gretna 2008 28 2 2 24 23 104 -81 8 18 Edinburgh University 27 1 2 24 31 115 -84 5 We say that in the EFL Championship anyone can beat any one, but in Scots League 2 last week, the bottom team Clyde, were away to the leaders and won 6-1.

I gave up with Sports 10 two games ago; this is working though; http://www.fawanews.com/Bristol City vs Cardiff City.html
  21. Yep; a special leaving TM at 15.27 direct to Newport and on to Cardiff after a brief pause. There is also the usual service train from Pompey - Cardiff leaving TM at 15.00. Coming to us though only the service train arriving at 11.20.
  22. I've been to Elm Park, a fine setting for any sports venue and to the Dell. When visiting Southampton a few years ago, a local pointed out to me some "Luxury Apartments". I was asked if I knew where I was and didn't. When told tis was the Dell i was shocked. "I saw George Best score a hat trick here and now look at it". I'm not sure whether it's Derby or Sunderland, but at one of them a supermarket has a football painted on the ground to remind shoppers what used to be on that spot. Rotherham's previous ground can still be seen and is pretty near heir new one as is Huddersfield's.
  23. At the time it was suggested that City were after Ivan Toney so Sammie was allowed to go to P'boro' as a sweetener for a future deal. Trouble is Posh wanted £8 million, but City would only offer six, so Ivan T went off to Brentford.
