The ultimate issue for me is that Manning has to deliver the whole package. On what I’ve seen so far there has been the odd game and spells in games where you can see what it might look like if he gets it right. First half v Forest for example when they couldn’t get the ball off us.
However it’s no good looking easy on the eye and going six weeks without winning a football match. Pearson was being pragmatic for a reason, that’s experience for you. A new manager is always going to have their own philosophy but it’s got to come with results. That’s the challenge over the coming months.
Tinnion is coming across as a bit desperate. He knows what he said and he also knows it ain’t being delivered right now. I said this earlier, the poor timing and rhetoric of the sacking is biting them on the arse as it stands.
The key thing Pearson did for me was lower fans expectations
Sadly for manning due to those incompetent leaders we have to suffer with, those expecting have gone through the roof,
It's why I'm more critical of the leaders then manning who does deserve some as well

The 3 games you mention we barely laid a glove on them. Ok it's Man City they outclass most teams but Leicester we were outclassed and Leeds away where the same as the other night we were lucky to only lose by a single goal. As per usual you are trying to make this into a Pearson v Manning debate fact is we had plenty of poor performances under Pearson and it's continuing under Manning.
Complete and utter horseshit
A prime example of rewriting history to suit a narrative

If manning were to get sacked I fully expect tinnion to become interim manager
But manning isn't getting sacked this season

We shouldn't expect performances like that it's no excuse anymore like you said if we want to be more competitive then we shouldn't expect anything less and that comes from board level as well because there petty excuses this season have been nothing but embarrassing.
Spot on, the team can lose that's not the problem it's the manner of defeat that's rhe problem,
Zero fight is inexcusable

Mehmeti more unsuited or at least less room to claw back than Bell probably. Better structure probably for the side as a whole..sure we've played that front 3 before, less sure of the results however.
That being said, when bell and Mehmeti came on against Leeds, it was the only time we showed any attacking intent

We've 2 many points on the board, we'd have to lose the next 16 in a row to go down,
Look at it another way, we currently have 5 wins in 18,
We need 4 wins in 16 to stay up on current form we should achieve that

Cup runs can spur Championship sides on.
Not us it seems but they can..
See Burnley 2008-09, pre Parachure Payments..had a very similar run to us and won the playoffs.
Think WBA won the League after reaching the FA Cup semi finals in 2008?
Blackburn last year, they went quite far in the Cup, were in the race for the playoffs a game or 2 from the end.
Oh they can, it seems to be a hindrance for us, and I believe that could be due to lack of depth on our part

Does anyone know where our identity has gone? I’m sure there was one beginning to form before Johnny boys revelation that we were in fact a top end Championship club in decline?
In Jon's defense that's not just something you can level at this club,
But fans all over the country can level at there individual club,
The problem with that is generally a modern football problem, and it's over exposure,
People see how arsenal or man City play and every other club go on toe replicate it,
Like the mass adoption of the 4-2-3-1 formation,
I wonder in 10 years time and teams start playing 4-4-2 would they be called innovators?

And... cup runs are important a/ for the revenue, b/ for the fun factor (I'm sure if City somehow get that game Man U you'll show some interest).
We're not closer to the playoffs, we're about a point further away, but we weren't ever going to get in the playoffs anyway.
I think players are probably fatigued with what has been a punishing schedule. If you think something more sinister is going on, that's fine. Let's see how it plays out.
Fact is, we can't reinstate Nige, we can't change the fact that the board talk bollocks, we can't change the appointment of Manning, and whether you like it or not, Manning is 99% gonna be our head coach next season, and neither you or me know how that is gonna play out.
The fatigued point is a good one and well made, something that's not talked about enough,
No doubt the cup run has made money, but its peanuts compared to getting into the play offs

And?
How many points did it get us, are we now closer to the play-offs because of it?
Or is it just papering over cracks that's starting to reflect on players body language

2 clangers in one game, at the very top level
That last one was pub league

This thread is hilarious!
Apparently, Manning is tactically inept, can't motivate players, is devaluing our assets and is out of his depth in all ways.
And yet somehow our team managed to outhustle West Ham twice, were a match for Forest and came very close to a win at Coventry, all in recent weeks.
Manning must be flukiest head coach in the world.
Love the condescending Post
How many points did west ham and forest give us by the way?

It’s another strand of the common theme here isn’t it? Adaptability. I don’t think it’s unfair to say that LM hasn’t adapted his preferred methods of playing to fit the squad, and I also don’t think it’s unfair to say that he’s struggled to adapt to changes in game. It is a theory as you rightly say, but what we do know about LM is that he’s really systematic, planning, data driven as opposed to instinctive. People in the former group do tend to struggle more with adapting to the preferences of different personality types, so it wouldn’t be a theory without merit.
It's another reason why the change in manager should of been made at the end of the season

I do not believe that.. imagine a new owner coming here and all of a sudden we had to play in blue shirts ! I dread to think about the repercussions. Still all totally hypothetical as will never happen
Not every new owner is bad though, intact alot of them improve the club they go to

It's odd...but as weeks have gone by, it's feeling more and more like LJs Tenure here..
Fans more divided again. More uncertainty. No trust in the top. Questionable tactics etc.
Spot on,
Just to add, refusing to make changes or change tactics when it's obvious to almost everyone it isn't working
But can get a cup run

Where I sit you can't hear them, when I've sat in a box, they are loud,
But they also need to be aided by what's happening on the pitch, which sadly isn't happening on a regular basis

We were poor last night, Leeds were very good and didn’t make it easy but when we had the ball we didn’t use it well enough. However think that’s a rare poor performance under LM, Coventry mid week we were very good and should’ve got all 3 points for example
That was a problem before Manning, our forwards aren’t good enough. Hence why two have been brought in on loan to add quality
For strikers to score you need to create chances
We don't we get in a position where a striker makes a run and the player turns around and passes back to the defence instead of probing
Put Conway or Wells in that Leeds side last night and it would of been 5 or 6 nil

You do realise the head coach hasn't been in charge of player recruitment at this club since Cotts don't you?

I've not been to a game since early Jan, I'm a happier person for it,
I'm so disillusioned, I most likely will not renew, I've been going since the late 80's I've seen good and bad times,
This is just meh now,
And that's not just city, its football in general,
