Curtis has his family home in the North East, is very close to Nige & is in my opinion only still in post because he was the most senior coach left to hold the reins until they appoint “their” man.

I’ll be very surprised if he is still at the club next month.

    Love him, though.

I'm surprised he's still there now to be honest, thought he might have left in solidarity with Nige. Although I'm sure he's a principled kind of guy, the type who, once he's signed a contract, will honour it.

But, I'd love it if he turned up at the press conference on Thursday and announced his immediate resignation on camera, leaving with a "tell the Lansdowns to shove thier job where the mice won't get at it".

There is a fair amount of chat about Eustace and the job he did at Brum in “difficult” circumstances.

Here’s some context. He spent more than Pearson has.

Last season, supposedly under some sort of embargo, he was able to sign 2 youngsters from Prem clubs for around £2m, 2 experienced prem players on frees and then add a further 6 prem loans - and they don’t come cheap!

This summer, he’s been allowed to spend around £5m or so on 4 players from Prem clubs plus signings from Germany and Belgium. He also added Bielek from Derby on a free and then further supplemented with 4 more loans (again, they don’t come cheap).

So, he’s spent more than Nige was given over the last 2 summers and also made 11 loan signings (we are apparently against these!) and also a couple of good pickups from Europe (again we don’t like to do this any more).

So, given that we don’t have any budget, and if we did, we don’t tend to sign loans, don’t tend to dip into the European market and also don’t tend to look at Prem youngsters since our Chelsea experiences of a few season past, I wonder what his remit is going to be?

In summary, Eustace finished below us last season and was only a couple of points better off this season, having spent more money and relied on a shed full of loanees.

Whilst we are saying we are recruiting to a certain style, and the boss must fit this, his 15 months in management seem to suggest he’ll be after something completely different to what we’re saying we’ll give him.

Seems to me whoever comes in will just be there to coach the team, and then be the fall guy for any failures. Sounds like Tinnion is calling all the shots. Manager in all but name, but far enough away to dodge the bullets.

    Awesome.

(sarcasm doesn't come across well in typing form).

Hands up who remembers the long and extensive search for a Manager before and then we ended up with Dean f@cking Holden. Lovely human being. Great at filling water bottles and picking up the cones. Should neve be anywhere near the Manager's job. I fear that we will end up with someone of a similar ilk. God I hate Modays at the best of times but today is a whole different level.

    Spot on Mr Geldof.

    Lansdowns Out.

If it’s Jones it’ll be ******* hilarious at the Gate. They’d have to make up a new word for toxic as that wouldn’t be strong enough 😂

I’ve rolled my eyes at people who say they are done with the club over this, but if they employ that odious rat faced ****, I think I’d join them.

    Lansdowns out.

I expect to see the opposite of a 'new manager bounce' personally. I predict the sense of giving everything/running themselves into the ground that we've seen from the players will disappear somewhat. Look how QPR went into total freefall last season.

We're only 4 points better off than 21st as it stands. Nine off the relegation spots. Still a very, very long 32 matches to play. Feeling ultimately very pessimistic about the club this evening – do we need to worry about relegation?

I said to my Mrs as soon as I heard the news, I might have a bet on us to go down now.

I've never been this upset/angry about a manager leaving.

Bizarrely I was in Asda when Gary Johnson was sacked and also in Asda today when Pearson was sacked.

You ought to start shopping in Sainsbury’s mate

But apart from the stadium, the training ground, the financial stability to ride out tough economic times / covid, the play-off final what have the Lansdowns ever done for us?

    The play off final? 🤣

1 shot at glory in 25 years of ownership. FFS.

Do we have 11 players out with ACLs?

    Did I say that?

We picked up 3 in game injuries on Wednesday. Nobody, no matter how good a medical professional they are, can “prevent” that.

If you think Rennie or anyone else can prevent Matt James getting a kick on the ankle, well, good luck with that.

His hands are tied because of the injury crisis. That’s what you should be kicking off about. If we had Vyner, Atkinson, McCrorie, Tanner & Naismith our defence would be looking good.

How many more player do you want? If we had no injuries and put out similar to todays team were still playing poorly then yes, SL would need to answer why he didn’t strengthen the team but that isn’t the case.

The fact you’ve said I’m sending SL shows you haven’t read what I’ve said. You need to direct your anger/request for someone to speak to the professional people in the roles that are causing issue. Rennie/Orme/the other fitness coach whose name I’ve forgot. They need to come out and explain why we have 11/12 first team players out and what they are going to do to resolve it and prevent it happening again.

    Prevent it happening again?

How do you propose anyone prevents players picking up in game injuries or acl’s..?

  11. Not sure I want to hear from him if I’m honest, as I imagine the next time he pipes up is when he changes another manager.

It will then be the usual bullshit about going to the next level. I’m sorry Steve, anyone who thought Dean Holden was that, clearly hasn’t got a scooby.

Precisely, Nige P is doing a good job with naff all £££s to spend. Pay peanuts …. Get monkeys

And that’s it in a nutshell. Compare the money the previous two managers were allowed to fritter away, it’s chalk and cheese.

Of course people will point to the players sold under LJ and he was only reinvesting that money, but Nige has had his best players sold and hardly seen a penny.

Lansdown is hanging him out to dry.

Yes - you're right in that I enjoyed being genuinely closer to the play offs for a couple of seasons and the best cup run and victory in my entire years of support.

Thing is- we were better then than we are now.  That is no dig at Nige, it's just a statistical fact.

You weren’t supporting us when we reached the same stage of that competition under Jordan then? Or when we beat Liverpool away in the fa cup?
