You and me both. I genuinely have no idea why, of all the times, Lansdown decides that now is the time to pull the rug up.

Hearing Pearson last night on RB depressed me and has properly dampened my excitement for the season tbh.

Tinnion went on record to say there’s a list of targets to sign if Alex stays, and if he goes. Pearson said Knight was signed to play alongside Alex for 46 games, not replace him.

Lansdown says…….we spent some of the Alex money ‘in advance of him leaving because we knew he would(??!?!??)’, and now there is no replacement, at all.

What changed? This is where we can just hope for a decent, challenging appearance on Radio Bristol or something not from the club media, because there’s a lot of stuff not adding up for me.

To make us attractive to a potential buyer. Easier to sell with a low wage bill and a healthy £25M banked transfer fee.

Another game with terrible stats for a home team and starting to play players out of position…..things LJ & DH we’re absolutely castrated for.

Ooof, bit severe. Could have just castigated or berated them…

I have however heard opposition fans and managers repeatedly say that it is difficult place to play because of the home fans and the atmosphere

You might be hearing Joseph saying this soon. What’s it now, a whopping two home wins this calendar year…

"Felt buzzing before the match. Stands are humongous"

Someone actually posted that on their forum. They'd probably have a seizure if they saw the Lansdown.

I suppose when you’re used to a few tents, he might have a point. But it’s going to hold less than the Atyeo, so it’s hardly The Kop…

My first look at the framework as I strolled across the car park at noon….

Over 9.5 years old and still couldn't be more pertinent ? wasn't the mayoral position meant to stop this kind of nonsense ha!

Edit: if I recall correctly BCC even gifted Lansdown's clubs a significant parcel of land, worth a not so inconsiderable amount, to ensure their redevelopment could commence

A load of old bollox. Ashton Gate is still on the footprint it’s always been.

I think expectations were justifiably quite high for this season, not for play offs imo but at least for a far more enjoyable season.

But the football God's do seem to be against us as just at the moment of well founded optimism we suffer a series of below the belt sucker punches that completely deflate us.

Fans favourite and likely top scorer Tommy picks up a long term injury, big new signing McCrorie's completely unexpected and unusual long term absence, Scott sold with no sign of a reasonable amount of that money being given to the manager, just as thing's seem to be coming together nicely one big deflationary blow after another, resulting in a dull season in prospect.

The bigger problem is many of us have been uninspired by SL's City for years, maybe since Cotts, having sat through so many seasons of mostly boring football and poor results at AG, and having our hopes to actually enjoy ourselves at AG again seemingly dashed so quickly has left little enthusiasm for the season ahead, and in some cases for BCFC at all.

SL needs to pull his finger out, and quickly, or this disenchantment will turn to anger.

    Nail on head.

The final 18 months of LJ's reign were utter tedium, when he went, it was the opportunity to kick the club on. Then we all know what happened with the lengthy process to appoint Deano.

That was the point that I lost any faith in SL and his desire to acheive his often stated ambition to reach the Premier League. It's all hot air, and it now looks like another season of mediocrity, due to not backing the manager, unless NP can pull a rabbit out of the hat.

Hopefully a final throw of the dice by Nige until he gets to enjoy a well earned retirement.

Oh, they won't be happy about this. The Greens winning an election, with votes counted at their beloved home ground.

That turnout will be rounded up to 40,000 and included in the fewers average attendance for the season.

I’m not saying it does. I very clearly made that point. All I was pointing out was that in terms of pure numbers - you seemed to be suggesting that 9 was an excessive number - there’s not a lot of difference,

As I said, quality, cost etc a different matter. But that’s when you get into a much broader debate as I just touched on in my response to Graham. Rightly or wrongly LJ was given the resources and it’s perhaps not surprising that he used them to sign proven players - especially given that he was under a top 6 or bust ultimatum.

LJ signed 9, NP 2. I don't think signing 9 GK's in 4.5 years is particularly normal for most footballl clubs.

LJ had Frankie and some kids in the building, NP had Bentley and some kids. To say NP has had 6 GK's is disingenuous, if your including the likes Mac Boyd and dismissing the signing of Begovic. Bentley had to go to bring the wage bill down for a start.

We're not going to agree, clearly, so I'll leave it there.

Begović was very much an under 18 keeper. If his name had been Smith no-one would have really noticed him at the time, never mind remember him half a decade later! And Gilmartin was explicitly bought in as a coach, but retaining his registration so he could play if needed.

So, say 9.5. Which over 4.5 years isn’t particularly unusual is it? NP has had 6 in 2.5 years. You can argue about quality, cost etc, but in terms of pure numbers I don’t think there’s a lot of difference and nothing unusual in either reign.

Pearson has signed Bajic permanently and Haikin(?) on a short term deal.

Promoted Max and HWR through the ranks. If you think that stacks up against LJ's GK transfer activity, knock yourself out.

    That’s exactly where I am.

I (unlike some on here) was never expecting some spending spree as a result of the Scott sale but the level of cost reduction is stark & even with McCrorie, Dickie & Knight joining, the wages saved from the Chelsea 3 alone, plus many others, Bentley, Baker, Martin, Klose etc must be significant & that’s before you look at the £35m raised by sales.

I agree with much of what @Harry says but it just seems like he operating with even greater restrictions than are necessary & you cannot escape the feeling that as SL rarely says anything positive about him at all these 2 things aren’t unrelated.

Just to focus on the goalkeeper situation again, LJ was allowed to waste money by SL on shite like Gilmartin as a third keeper, now we don’t even have a deputy with any real experience.

About 9 goalkeepers was it? Geifer, Lucic, Marinovic, Steele, O’Donnel, Bentley, Nikki M, Begovic and Gilmartin. Have I missed any?

All that while Frankie was already here and Max was coming through. Definitely not backed to the hilt was LJ, oh no.

    So in the last 6 months we have lost the following from our wage bill;

Klose, Martin, Semenyo, Bentley, HNM, Baker, Wilson, Scott, JD, Moore, Kalas & reduced Wells salary by potentially half.

We’ve added Cornick, Memehti, Roberts,McCrorie, Knight & Dickie & increased cost base with new deals for Atkinson/Tanner.

Not only have we significantly reduced wage bill but also reduced squad depth to currently 19 available to choose from (inc 2 academy defenders & Yeboah).

Also generated £35m in transfers out & lost our 2 best players in process & spent £5.5m on new recruits.

Im sure @Mr Popodopolous & @Davefevs can be more concise with projected savings & if I’ve missed anything. Whilst some of the signings have yet to prove their value (jury out still) surely if we are going to progress now is the time to release some funds and review any internal targets associated with wage bill limits.

I know this is easy for me to say as it’s not my money but I’m cannot see how we can progress this season without further funds & whilst I’m not always happy with Nige, he continues to work with handcuffs on.  Nobody expects us to go to the Ashton days of huge signings/wages but not sure how we progress. Time will tell which way he went.

Said after the game on Saturday, after a comment about the pressure growing on NP, I think if we don't bring at least 2 in before the end of the window, the pressure starts to build on SL.

Can we just ban this ******* ***, why do we have to put up with his excrement, I wouldn't mind if he had something humorous or interesting (see Netty and Miah)  I don't think he's even an asshead, just a lonely little troll, sitting in his squalor in his mum and dads house and certainly never been laid !

It does seem odd that our moderators haven’t shut him down. Clearly only here to wind people up. Mind you, there’s a couple of our own who get away with it so maybe acting like a **** doesn’t warrant retribution.
