I don't care if I get shot down, that's fine, but I am sick of the negativity towards Tinnion.

I love the guy.  Pure and simple, he's a city legend and was in the team for my first four years as a fan and had a left peg I absolutely worshipped.

Anyway, I'm not here to talk about his football legacy, I think it's cruel and unfair the way he's treated on here, quite often as a figure of fun and with his intelligence and communication skills being mocked and belittled, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

He's not our enemy, he's our ambassador, he's a man who's gave most of his working career to our club, even though being a Geordie and having no previous affinity to the club.

We know he's not the best fit for the job he currently has, but he had the ambition to go for it, the same as his stint as a manager, he wasn't up to speed, but he had the ambition and drive to go for it.  I respect and love that.

It's not his fault if he's not right for the job, it's up the people above him if they feel he should be replaced.

Personally, I want him in charge of the academy, that's his best fit and hopefully he will be back there sometime in the future - back within his comfort zone.

But in the meantime, he will definitely be giving everything to the club and deserves much more respect and our support.

You don't have to love Pearson and hate Brian, you can appreciate them both!

And even though I don't agree with Manning being our gaffer, I can see the reasons why he was recruited.

I’m fairly sure I’m not adding anything new, having been at work all day and just logged on to see this.

    WOW.
Sod ambition. Let’s have Tinnion as Tecknical Director, Mickey Bell as manager, Scott Murray as his assistant and Tommy Doherty as fitness coach.

We’re supposedly an ambitious Championship club and not a cosy retirement home for ex-players who were decent against Port Vale and Wycombe a few years back.

Tinnion isn’t up to it. Never has been. Stick him in the academy where he’s shown some success, but we need proven and capable people in key positions.

In all my time supporting City, I can only think of two managers who’ve had top flight experience in either their playing or managerial career: Nigel Pearson and Danny Wilson. We need people who’ve been there and done it, at least whilst we’re still learning how to do it.

Because that’s my opinion. He needs a summer to bring in some of his own players etc. He’s trying to build something. I don’t expect you to agree with me and that’s fine.

Whatever he’s building is built on sand foundations if he won’t even give a youngster a shot to sit on the bench.
Can’t develop players or won’t develop players?

  3. Completely agree with everything in the OP, @Fordy62

It’s not Manning’s fault. He shouldn’t be here and he’s been stitched up.

I can understand moving on from Nigel, particularly if his health issues were viewed to be affecting things. However, the way in which it was done and the rhetoric at the time was nonsensical and set Manning up for failure.

I wish it had worked out and we’d stumbled on the next big thing, but it hasn’t. Time for SL, JL, BT and LM to pick up their ball and go home.

If you look across the last 35 we are 13th. We could do this all day!

Exactly. It’s pointless. Just like our team over the last 3.

Truth is, though, when you look at our games against teams currently placed 17th or lower, we’ve only beaten Millwall on opening day, Rotherham in October and Sheff Weds in Fleming’s game.

We’ve lost to Blackburn, QPR, Millwall, Birmingham, Stoke and Sheff Weds, whilst drawing with the rest.

    We’re in trouble.

Is it Leicester who are 23rd? We're better than Leicester then. All good.

Yeah, but I reckon they’ve got enough points to be safe. 🤣

I have a feeling that Manning and Tinnion will leave the club this week. JL won't want to take responsibility, so he'll lay this all at Tinnion's door, and say he has to act. The only way we can sack Manning, is if Tinnion is sacked as well. I think Lansdown ill take action by Monday morning.

7-1 loss against Swansea ought to do it for both of them.

Lansdown is not going to qct, the only time he will act is if crowds significantly drop, or season ticket holders or relegation

Then we’re sleepwalking through stagnation into relegation.

Another full week of training has coincided with a defeat, this keeps happening. We were doing better when LM had less opportunity to coach the team because of fixture pile ups.

I make it four defeats out of five games where we’ve had a full week of training.

Is that 2 poor performances in 21? Absolute clown

    What?!

Huddersfield, Leeds, both QPR, Preston, Birmingham, Sheff Weds, Cardiff, just off the top of my head…

Well he could hardly say that we were relegation material, could he.  The leaders in the club have to push the message that we are on the up. This should put pressure on players, managers and those hoping to break into the team. It may also sell a few more tickets. Please don't start canning a bloke because he is too positive!

But he could have said “we are a club with ambitions of being in the top 6”.

That’s very different to “we have a top 6 squad”.
