  1. Has decided to leave Twitter.

Case of “getting out of the kitchen as he can’t take the heat”?

Bet he’d still be there if Manning had won his first few. Real shame that someone else won’t seem to take accountability and communicate with the supporters.

  2. I live a little distance away and have three kids, so don’t often get the chance to watch the games.

Have listened to every match religiously on the City app, though. Until today. Have completely lost interest and faith in the people that run the club. I’ll carry on supporting the team, but the people running the show are just not up to the job.

Such is our collective fondness for Pearson, we’re in danger of rewriting history here.

In reality, Pearson didn’t win every game you might have expected him to, and not every performance met expectation. Sometimes we were actually pretty crap.

That’s not to say Pearson didn’t do well here. Overall his record holds up and he was getting about par from a limited squad. But let’s not start pretending we we were guaranteed to beat anyone under him. We weren’t.

You’re also not allowing for a transition period while the players adapt to a new manager with new ideas. That alone is likely to have contributed to today’s performance.

He won every game away at QPR 😉

If only football was that simple eh?

Yep, so you look at the reasons why we didn’t?

did we play them off the park and just fail at finishing? No.

were we let down by a poor referee performance? No.

were we surprisingly lacklustre and not set up correctly? Probably. That’s down to the coaching team and the players’ attitude. Neither were good enough today.

I don’t agree with the decision to sack Pearson for one second, but seriously you’ve got to give it more time than this.

We’re unlikely to see much of a “bounce”, because this wasn’t a situation where the players had stopped performing for the manager or he wasn’t getting as much out of the team as he might. Pearson’s record was about par for the ability of this squad, so you can’t expect a “bounce” above what they are actually capable of.

Manning may well implement “front foot football”, but he’s had two sessions. The players are suddenly hearing a new voice, with a new style, giving new instructions. We really should allow for a transition period, rather than throwing the toys out of the pram after one disappointing performance.

I did say previously that the problem for the board is that the decision was so unpopular, the new incumbent needs to do very well very well quickly or people will turn. But rushing to judgement after one game is ridiculous.

This squad of players are good enough to beat QPR away, that’s pretty much a fact.

They were playing as a team under NP.

The board deposed the leader of the team and the next performance is completely lacklustre.

There’s going to be questions and rightly so. That performance was unacceptable and I’m certain it would have been better under either NP or even CF.

  6. What an absolute joke. Get rid of an experienced manager and support staff, claiming it’s so we’d play front foot football and then the first performance is like this.

Most new managers get a bounce or a honeymoon period, but really, that was an atrocious performance with nothing positive at all against one of the worst teams in the league.

Lansdown and Tinnion have a lot to answer for.

I do wonder if the ref has the power to force either the team or the stewards to change colour. He would realise as soon as he turned up at the stadium there  would be a clash.

It’s their home kit in their home stadium. Luton should have figured this out and have the stewards in different colours. It must be the same every game.

The other thing to consider is the rumour that CF has already gone…..if that is true then surely somebody will be coming in today

Not necessarily. Maybe his pre match presser rubbed people up the wrong way. BT and JL may feel that Hines and Cisse can manage for the remaining five weeks of this vigorous search.

I did chuckle when he said that….but it got lost amongst all the other stuff that was in that interview.

I can’t get past it. Why would you admit that? The FIRST time they’ve known what they’re looking for. And half the rumoured candidates don’t fit the bill…

I would be happy with Frank Lampard brings contacts and has manager young players did ok at Derby no more but prefer him to the likes of other names mentioned.

No punctuation, typos… Tinman, is that you?

    Could be on Points West

Sent in my contribution. You only get 10 seconds though 🤣

Mine was basically “thanks Nige and no to Nathan Jones”

Don’t live in the Points West area, so doubt I’ll know if I get on unless my dad sees me.

Ainsworth? No thank you. Good league 1 manager but lacks it in championship big time.

Can see why people say that given the QPR disaster. I live near Wycombe, though, and saw how he shaped an unfashionable club with no budget to compete at levels at which they’d never before achieved.

There’s a manager and a leader in there, and he’s always intrigued me as an option at City. Not sure anyone can make it work at QPR at the moment.

  13. People say it’s not an inspiring list, but I’d actually accept any of Rowett, Eustace, Beale, Warnock or even Ainsworth.

    Not Jones, though. Forget him.

But the others have something intriguing about them that could fit at this club. Cotterill was not an inspiring signing, but he clicked with City. I could see any of the five I mentioned doing the same. It’s about providing an environment in which they can succeed and things clicking.

I would be against Jones, as I can’t see him ever winning the fans over given his attitude and arrogance. Pulis 2.0

Nigel Pearson, however, is a cut above all of them and a different class of manager. Sometimes, though, the fit and connection between manager, ownership, players and the fans is more important. Cotts and early GJ are the only ones I’ve seen truly achieve this, and they’re, with respect, not necessarily the best managers the world has ever seen.
