  1. Do you know what? I think I might be done with this club for a while.

I live an hour and a half away, in Maidenhead, and the distance usually makes things easier to rationalise.

But there’s nothing rational about this. What “recent results”? A 0-1 home defeat to an Ipswich side who’ve had the second best ever start to a Championship season, where we were probably worth a point?

A 2-0 away defeat when we only had 12 fit players and had to name 2 GKs on the bench?

Before that, we beat Coventry, Rotherham and Plymouth whilst losing to Leeds, Leicester and Stoke. Only the Stoke result can be considered as a surprise or disappointment.

I’ve felt we’ve put up a fight in every game this season, despite being able to name a full eleven of injured players.

The youngsters have been promoted in a way I’ve never seen before. The football clearly had a style and a plan, to be a high-pressing counter-attacking side. The wage bill had been cut. We’d performed well despite selling key players.

The board could really not ask for anything more from a manager and they’ve been itching to do this for weeks. It stinks.

I hope, for the club’s sake, there’s someone lined up and a decision is made in the next week or so. If there’s not one standout candidate, then at least a shortlist ready to go.

Eustace, Rowett, Beale and even Ainsworth should be brought in for an interview, then take your pick from there.

I fear they’ll make a run at Lansdown’s wet dream of Mark Robins. One last splash with him before SL sails into the distance.

I know he's injured, but he'll be around. He'll need treatment.

True. I meant away from the team sheet. By the time he’s back, a new manager could be well settled. If we had a plan to replace quickly.

  3. If he’s going to sack Nige (and I don’t want him to) now makes sense.

I’d fancy us to be favoured to win in five of the next seven matches.

James, likely to be one of NP’s biggest fans in the dressing room, is away from the team for a while.

If they have someone lined up, then do it now. Otherwise, come out and back NP.

  4. Decent performance, but Ispwich always looked like they had a second gear.

On another night, the two Dickie headers, the Conway header, Cornick’s shot, even the Conway free kick end up as 2 or 3 goals.

But even if we’d scored, I’d have fancied Ipswich to get another. One of those games where a 2-2 draw may have been a fair result, but we came down on the wrong side of a few chances.

  5. For me, the acid test of a manager is whether they leave the club in a better position overall than when they found it. That includes finances, squad size, everything.
Certainly true for NP. Can it be said about many others for the entirety of the club?

  6. Really annoyed by this. We’ve been crying out for a manager like NP for decades.

Been supporting the club since Dennis Smith times. If I’m right, only Pearson, Coppell and Wilson (as managers and/or players) and Jordan (as a player) have had top flight experience.

IMO that lack of know-how has been a major failing of the club for decades. We’ve been crying out for experience and people who have been there and done it. Now we have someone, who’s performed well in incredibly difficult circumstances and we’re letting it slip through our fingers. It’s so frustrating and screams of ownership who are not comfortable in their positions and want to be more involved than they should be.

  7. We’d be making a huge mistake to let Pearson leave at the end of this season IMO.

Wages are under control, he’s starting to get some money to spend and it’s a critical time for the club’s future with the Scott money and Lansdown potentially looking for outside investment. I’d want no one else to guide us through this next couple of years.

  8. I live in Maidenhead and have three kids who’d all want to go if I went.

It adds up to a day worth well over £150 in petrol, food and tickets if we all go and, right now, I can’t justify it. Prices are too high everywhere, City included. Didn’t miss a home game when I was in Bristol from around 1998-2008 but now I just can’t afford it. And that’s with a decent job as a primary school Headteacher.

  9. This place is the best sometimes. Glad to hear you’re feeling a little better, Porto Red. Please remember there are plenty of people out there who will listen and help, and as others have said, OTIB isn’t a bad place to start! Feel free to drop a DM; or if you’re anywhere near Maidenhead (doubt it, given the username) then give me a shout to catch up sometime.

Really! Wolves are original members of the football league, Division One champions 3 times, Division 2 champions 4 times, Division 3 champions twice, Division 4 champions once and FA Cup winners 4 times.

I don’t deny Wolves have a more illustrious history or that they’re bigger. Just currently, I don’t find them interesting. I think I could name three of their players: Bentley, Kilman and Costa. They’re just a pretty dull team, never competing at the top end, mostly avoiding the bottom. If you asked 100 random people to name all 20 teams in the Premiership, I reckon Wolves would be one of the least mentioned teams. They’re, currently, dull and forgettable.
