Could a best case end up being - he goes to Bournemouth, bangs in a few goals whilst they go down, then a bigger club pick him up this summer and we feast on the sell-on too?

Or, to answer my own question. Could that be a worst case?

Say he goes to another club for £14m.

We’d get at best 40% of profit, so circa £2.2m, but miss out on all these add on clauses for appearances and so on.

I am not seeing anything at this point to suggest there are any other clubs interested although, of course, still a week to go and things could change.

More than happy if he stays but I have a small concern about how he will react to losing out, at least for the moment, on the widely reported £50k per week.

There always is the  possibility that he and his agent decide to sit tight and he walks for nothing in 18 months and straight into the alleged £50k per week plus a huge signing on fee.

That is a long way off and lots can change between now and then but it is a possibility.

Strong possibility I reckon, given clubs seem to be making their minds up earlier about sitting players in the last year of their contracts if they’re not signing.

The summer could be a really difficult one.

As well as consultancy at Palace, he’s been a consultant at Wycombe since start of the season - leaves on Jan 20th.

If we did jettison Nige at one point soon, has Gareth Ainsworth just gone up in the betting?

I live just down the road from Wycombe. I’d love Ainsworth here, but can’t see it. The club is built in Ainsworth’s image, he can do anything he wants and is the absolute main man. Can’t see him giving it up for anything, really, think he’ll be there until he wants to pack it all in and retire.

All down to Sky I think. They like to split the programme now so they can have live games on both nights but don`t want to decide which ones too early on.

Sure I’ve heard it’s Nigel’s preference - split the middle between two Saturday games, equal rest each side, rather than rushing for a Tuesday match.

    May be wrong though.

  5. I sat in the Dolman last night, and was relieved to see that they don’t run in front of the Lansdown.

Have previously sat in lower Lansdown and lower South Stand and have found them incredibly bright, off putting and that they make it hard to pick out the players. I’m sure it’s to do with the angles, lower you are, the worse it is.

It must be a consideration for the players at times.
