  1. Shows the difference between an established Championship side - which for us isn’t to be sniffed at - and a League One promotion team. Remember us in first season up. As you say they don’t look bad going forward though.
  2. Seems the acoustics in the Atyeo are not as good as suggested by some ?
  3. Having just watched it back, I agree with your first point. If he’d hit it further left, I think the defender would have blocked it.
  4. I just hope that PA or one of his family members isn’t seriously ill, causing him to step down. Anything else is just business and we’ll find a replacement in due course so I can’t get too concerned about it. I also don’t read too much into his statement referencing NP and BT but not the Lansdowns: 1. It was a club statement so it was agreed with the club; 2. It was referring to the ‘team’ being in safe hands (it wasn’t about the board/ownership); and 3. I think the message was deliberate, ie reassurance that his departure won’t muck up on the pitch performance as NP and BT have that covered.
  5. Yep https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/66827798
  6. Provided no knocks and they all recover well, I could see us starting with the same team as Saturday given the good first half performance (and the performance v Swansea). But I would expect to see substitutions far earlier than Saturday.
  7. James is running the show and looking the sharpest I have seen him here. Fingers crossed he can stay fit for the whole season. Very well. All over them. Deserved a goal. Hit the post.
  8. Just watched these myself. Good positive interviews. The more I see of Knight both on and off the pitch, the more I like him. Great signing.
  9. Yes I’m not saying it’s right - but i just feel that what has gone on before is now colouring the here and now. (So we can still blame Ashton!) I suspect Covid has had a bearing too, ie the financial hit that he had to cover; I recall some of his interviews at the time. I suspect that might also be making him more cautious now.
  10. March 2010. One of the best performances I’ve seen from an away player at AG. He scored two. (Billy Sharp also scored two.)
  11. He even tore us apart when he played against us when on loan at Doncaster. They won 5-2 at AG.
  12. Isn’t that part of the problem though - he’s backed previous regimes too much and that got us nowhere. Hence why he’s now swinging the other way.
  13. Yes! Just realised it’s nearly 40 years ago - memories are still vivid (even their goal!)
  14. Just one division below them (they were Div 3, we were Div 4.). That match (Dec 1983) is one of my favourite ever City memories - was rammed in the away end at Eastville that day.
  15. Interview was pretty clear and unsurprising: - recruitment before the sale of Scott was on the budget assumption that Scott would be sold. - they didn’t want to do the recruitment after Scott’s sale as hinders negotiation position re recruitment. - therefore SL was taking the financial risk on this buy now pay later strategy, ie if the Scott deal couldn’t be done, the budget would be blown so SL would have to put more money in. - the Scott deal was done so we are as per the budget. - up to SL to determine how much he wants to fund (lose!); too early to tell what the position will be in Jan. So my view on this is clearly SL doesn’t want to fund as much as he might have in the past. However I don’t think it necessarily follows that he won’t open the cheque book a bit more in Jan if we are looking promising for top 6 (or have more injuries - TGH was brought in because of injuries). I also don’t think you can make a leap one way or the other re NP’s future. Personally I think everyone is waiting to see how we progress during the season. I doubt NP is as bothered about that as some on here.
  16. Enjoy a few of his pens here (he tweeted this earlier today) https://x.com/officialjet10/status/1698695223713386598?s=46&t=Lrw08Dd2QjCu1binMEvLeQ
  17. Agree, and it’s great to see him invested/living in the area. Complete focus while he is with us. Not all experienced managers would do that in my view.
  18. Someone else would provide a better style of play? Our current performances are boring? I presume you’re either joking or haven’t experienced some of the dross under previous managers.
  19. Yes although I don’t have an issue with us stating that we are aiming for top 6, and indeed Pearson said the same at his pre-Swansea press conference. It is possible with our current squad (especially if we keep performing like yesterday of course) - plus we may add in Jan - but what is crucial is that we don’t sack the manager if we don’t achieve it. So fine for it to be a public aim; but not for it to be absolute requirement. We should continue to build towards it. What I don’t understand is fans on here who have said ‘I bought my season ticket based on the statement from SL that we are going for top 6 and now I feel I was lied to’. That’s just a load of nonsense. No one can guarantee top 6, and quite why anyone would buy a City season ticket thinking it came with a top 6 guarantee is beyond me.
  20. I agree. Best to regard the name Premier League as pure rebranding - so when they spout these facts, just regard it as since it was renamed and you’ll feel much better! It’s why I have no time for comments saying we’ve never been in the Premier League.
  21. Similar views to my own (started watching in 74). Stability in the second tier doesn’t happen that often for us so it is not to be sniffed at, and, as you say, last time we were this stable at this level we eventually achieved promotion so I can see the need to be patient. It took 11 seasons last time. For me, if it takes 11 seasons this time, I can live with that. Promotion in 2025-26, exactly 50 years since last time.
  22. Extended Highlights: Swansea City 1-2 Bristol City - Bristol City FC
  23. Good shout. Simple lyrics which helps. Been sung for best part of 40 years too. ‘We Always Believe’ was also sung well in the GJ/Basso era because it was easy for people to join in (and we were doing well of course).
