Stoke City away match day thread
eardun replied to Jerseybean's topic in The Havanatopia Match Day Archive
That’s the kind of resilience Pearson is expecting on a consistent basis. Good three points. -
looks like we have red card specialist ref for stoke game
eardun replied to Never to the dark side's topic in Football Chat
If the radio Bristol commentary is anything to go by, it sounds like the ref is having a shocker. -
Worst city centre back I’ve seen-Sean Dyche?
eardun replied to HappyClapper's topic in Football Chat
Played an important role in getting us promotion from Div 4 though. -
No I didn’t get that re the back room staff - I thought that was more about some of his staff challenging him re some changes he was considering on the pitch.
-
Yes sticks in my mind too - City fans breaking up their seats in the Dolman to lob at the Millwall fans ? Not our finest hour, but plenty of other far better memories of that era.
-
Yes and again I like the fact that he isn’t focusing on the short term ‘me, me, me’. He sees his role is to improve the club for the longer term - even if the ultimate achievement comes after his time, he will have played his part in that success. It is no surprise that a lot of Leicester fans recognise his role before their Premier league win and give him a lot of credit.

I certainly didn’t get that impression from watching today’s press conference. He seems very much up for the challenge.

The amount of games we have been live on TV this season

Sure we’ve been on Sky for an away match too - Birmingham in Nov? Another home match on Monday. Plus about 10 red button matches of course. Has felt like a lot anyway! -

Season Tickets 2022/23 (12,000 sold as at 10th May)
eardun replied to phantom's topic in Football Chat
Grateful for info from those of you who have said you have bought/renewed more than one season ticket. Is it possible to own more than one season ticket in your own name, or do you have to have each ticket allocated to a different person with a different supporter ID (e.g. each ticket in a different family member’s name)? Reason I ask is that the season ticket Q&A (copied below) suggests that you can own more than one season ticket but when I spoke to the ticket office they said I would need to create a new Bristol Sport account in a different person’s name (eg in name of my wife) to do so. So I’d be interested to know if anyone does own more than one season ticket (in their own name). Many thanks. 13. Will I be able to purchase an additional Season Ticket? Yes, you will be able purchase additional Season Tickets, subject to availability, from the General Sale period starting Tuesday, April 12th at 10am. -
Agree. I also think that given our current predicament relegation (lower income etc) would be even more of an issue financially than it has in the past - potentially disastrous.
-
I think this is what Pearson was referring to when he said ‘passive’.

Not surprised Josh Knight was MOM - thought he looked decent. -
April 16th 2013 - Another anniversary on the horizon:
eardun replied to The Original OTIB's topic in Football Chat
Pearson has said his priority is recruiting centre backs. On this interview, Lansdown talks about the failure to recruit decent CBs as the key reason for relegation - let’s hope he remembers that and supports Pearson on his wish. -
I trust Pearson’s judgment on rating the players on their ability to perform consistently well at championship level over anyone else at the club. And I reckon that is partly what Pearson is referring to when he says the club is passive, i.e. too accepting of the status quo/mediocrity.
-
Get him back quick to get hot air in the hand dryers.
-
Wow. Sums up the mental frailty which Pearson clearly sees.
-
This is part of the reason why Pearson should have more time - the calls for his sacking are premature and don’t reflect the reality of the situation. We have quite a lot of players who are are inexperienced at this level - hence their inconsistency. Pearson has talked about this. Pearson is looking at which players can improve to become consistent performers at this level and which ones he needs to ship out. I think he has a better understanding of what it takes to be a consistent performer at this level than a lot of previous managers. Just a question of whether, due to our financial constraints, he can make the changes we need - and how quickly. If anyone thinks we will be challenging for the play-offs for next season that is unrealistic in my view.
-
To be fair to GJ, he was with us in the championship longer than league one, including getting us to a play off final of course.
-
If he walks, he’ll still be quicker than some of our players.

Peterborough at home (very early) match day thread

Must admit I was thinking the opposite seeing some of his passing - not quite championship standard -
Pearson comments- might be a quiet summer
eardun replied to Mr Popodopolous's topic in Football Chat
I certainly wasn’t expecting us to spend much this summer. To do so would be unrealistic. And I prefer that Pearson tells it how it us and is up for managing us taking account of how it is - and acting responsibly for the sake of the club. I’ve also never understood the blaming of the club for a person’s decision not to renew a season ticket - ‘I’m not not enjoying it because Pearson/Lansdown have done/not done X and therefore I’m not renewing my season ticket’. In terms of the football, there is always something to enjoy - especially in the Championship which is one of the best leagues in the world. So I have renewed my season ticket for next season. I have not had a season ticket every season since I started watching in the mid 70s. When I have not renewed in the past, it was down to other family commitments, financial constraints, living away etc. So I can understand people having their reasons for not renewing. However I think that when someone blames the club for that decision, it is just their way of trying to find extra reasons/moans to grab onto by way of justification and so I tend not to take much notice of it! -
Well, we ain't gonna be home on saturday 13 august 2022
eardun replied to Never to the dark side's topic in Football Chat
Wonder if this also make it more likely that we will be away for the first match of the season on 30 July (and then at home on 6 Aug). -

I agree. No moaning about the situation from Pearson - he’ll just deal with it and, as he says in this interview, look out for the best interests of the football club - and to be honest I find that refreshing.- 143 replies
