A season or so back Otib was aflame with views saying referees were not giving City penalties, and some hinted at dark acts.
This season, to date, only Leicester have had more penalties than us.
Given the dubious nature of Saturday’s penalty I am deafened by the silence
Perhaps it’s down to Manning
This site (if correct) says Leeds have had more than us (quelle surprise) - 8 v our 6 - but they missed 2. Have Leicester really had 12?!

Are card tickets still available next season. ? Sorry if asked before.
They said:
”Digital Season Tickets will be used again following their successful introduction this season.
Current Season Ticket holders using a physical card will have the option to continue to do so next season and should keep hold of their 2023/24 card.”

Yes I am being very serious and I note others on here have said the same. That Blackburn win was the least exciting 5.0 in the club history, we were average and gifted the game through error after error from them. Majority of second half was fall asleep mode. We’ve played much better this season like Stoke at home under Nige where we played them off the park and somehow lost.
But I was commenting on your post that said the 5-0 win was “was almost as bad a performance as some of the others”. It was much better than most other performances under Manning and indeed better than most performances this season (even better than v Plymouth under Pearson I would argue given the chances we conceded in that game plus the team that Plymouth put out). Plus our own play forced errors - and indeed most goals scored involve some form of error from the opponent - so I don’t buy the argument that a goal that involves an error does not count.

Can’t remember the timing, but when did Williams first get a knock…was it around that time???
Yes I assumed they held the Anis sub back because they were checking injury status - it was around the Williams knock so perhaps Williams wasn’t originally going to come off (unless there was someone else they were monitoring)

I include a 5.0 win in that which for me was almost as bad a performance as some of the others
Seriously?

Aye. think it’s one that when the full match replay is uploaded we can fast-forward to 90 minutes and see how much of the initial 5 minutes extra they actually wasted. From memory but no timings, they wasted almost 2 mins with the tummy-ache, another 30 seconds with a sub and then some more time looking for a ball at a free-kick….so the game could’ve easily been 90+8. The penalty was given around that time.
BBC timings above.
Id forgotten McCrorie’s injury too.
i’ll do it properly when the match is uploaded.
Spot on. Easily another 3 mins to add to the 5 that had already been added - due to the injuries and a sub in injury time - and the pen was conceded around 98.

I've just read the Manning quote saying about not playing King there ' not in my time here' or something like that. Am I reading too much into that or is there a slight dig at Pearson? Obviously King is such a Pearson player and he doesn't want to use him as Pearson did, but wants to find his own solution? Just seems a strange thing to say.
I heard the interview pre-match and Manning was just correcting the interviewer who said that he had used King at CB before. So nothing in it.

Tanner, McCrorie, Roberts?
Yes I have hunch he is sticking with a back 3 with Sykes RWB.

Yes I was looking at the table earlier and I concluded my preference would be for Stoke and Birmingham to go down. It could get interesting for Stoke as their next two matches are against other relegation candidates (Sheff Wed and Plymouth) so if they lose there they will really be in trouble. They then play Southampton before us.

I hope plans are being drawn up to give Rotherham a small section of the away end over by the Lansdown, so we can give at least half the Atyeo to City fans.
Last games of the season are usually popular so we have a real opportunity to increase the attendance due to a very small away support.
I can’t keep up - I thought the view on here was that people weren’t going to bother to turn up for the last few matches?! As usual though, it’s somewhere in the middle despite the OTIB extremes!

Me too, I don't think some people realise that your view of a manager can change over time though. If he were to show signs of learning and growing next season
Personally I'm still in the very worried camp, but if we have a shaky start and start picking up good results I'll be ok. But next season I really want to see us punching at a solid top half finish, all the signs right now is we will be bobbling around 10 places off where I'd like us to be, and that's not the play offs.
That’s precisely why I thought the calls to sack Manning were premature (coupled with the fact that we had seen some good performances under him). Just three or four months doesn’t give time for any manager to adapt, learn and grow into a new club and role. That’s why I said on another thread that I feel 12 months is a better period in which to judge.

Given our current squad, I’d probably be going for a forward.
Still playing: Semenyo
From the past: Cheesley
But I’d also like Gerry Gow (please).

Interesting that the rugby are moving family season tickets to the south stand, whereas City are looking to move kids from the south stand to the Lansdown stand.
Rugby Q&A:
“I am a Season Ticket holder in S18, S19 or S20 with an Under-12 or Under-19 Season Ticket. How am I affected?
S18, S19 and S20 will now be the location for the Family Area at Ashton Gate. If you have a Season Ticket in that block and have an Under-19 or Under-12 Season Ticket holder in your group you can remain in the Family Area. Due to a large number of Family Area Season Ticket holders moving to this area there are no seat reservations in this section. All supporters currently in blocks W7, W8, W9, S18, S19, S20, will all have an exclusive window to purchase a Season Ticket from midday on Thursday, April 11th four days ahead of Season Tickets going on sale. All affected supporters will be sent details via email on how to purchase their Season Ticket.
I am an Adult Season Ticket holder in S18, S19 or S20 without an Under-12 or Under-19 Season Ticket. How am I affected?
We are asking Season Ticket holders without an Under-12 or Under-19 group member within blocks S18, S19 and S20 of the South Stand to move to another block due to the relocation of the Family Area. All affected supporters will have an exclusive window to purchase a Season Ticket from midday on Thursday, April 11th four days ahead of Season Tickets going on sale. All affected supporters will be sent details via email on how to purchase their Season Ticket. As part of the relocation of the Family Area we have introduced new entry level pricing in blocks E28 and E34 of the Dolman Stand. With prices starting from £290 for Adults. There is availability in other areas of the South Stand, for supporters who wish to stay in this stand, all at the same price of £290. “ -

Did he say that as I don’t remember him saying that?

I know that. That’s exactly my point. When can we see results / performances from coaching an identity, rather than it (all) being about a game by game tactical plan?
Ah I misread - thought you were criticising his use of the term/his language, rather than how we perform.

But….i do wonder when he’s gonna stop talking about “the game-plan” as the default reason for gaining results / performances.
I would rather “game-plan” becomes “identity”, because as it stands, “game-plan” implies its specific for that game, and something a bit different than the norm.
I do think he is talking about the specific game-plan for the match in question though.

Hopefully we can put a solid run now till the end of the season. Sunderland an absolute shambles today and Blackburn who spanked them up as a next two.
Yes it would be nice to beat last season’s 59 points

The most impressive things today is we saw signs that Manning is finally prepared to change things if Plan A isn’t working as evidenced by the change of shape during the first half and again at half time. We’ve been told he’s learning on the job, hopefully this learn is now a permanent addition to his toolbox.
This is why I’m happy to give Manning time. He’s a young coach and bound to learn, gain experience and get better, just like a young player (e.g. Semenyo, who some also wrote off at the start of his City career). Plus we have seen some really good performances under him so there have been some good signs. It doesn’t make sense to me to bin him off after just a few months. And yes I know we had an experienced manager before him who shouldn’t have been sacked, but that’s in the past and we can’t change that.

Round pegs round holes, isn’t this supposed to be his best position?
On 29/03/2024 at 17:00, pongo88 said:Roberts played in his natural position today and it showed. Playing him on the left side of a back three allows Pring to play as a wing back which adds a bit of extra defensive cover and extra attacking bite in midfield
Didn’t realise that Roberts prefers playing centre back. Bristol City Live pointed this out too:
“The summer signing from Brighton & Hove Albion has long made it clear he sees himself as a centre-back, to the point he openly rejected the Seagulls’ attempts to convert him into a full-back in his later academy days only to then end up being one on loan at Derby County.”
Long may it continue.
