  1. I agree with the sentiments of your post but not the bit about Pearson being the best manager we’ve ever had. Although he was good we’ve also had some other good ones over the years. Terry Cooper worked wonders with a mix of non league and cast off players. Before him Alan Dicks got the club into the Division 1. The big difference with Dicks is the board stuck with him (sometimes only just) and he was given time.

    ENJOYMENT

I think part of the problem is that average managers watch teams like Man City and try to replicate their style of play. Unfortunately they ignore the fact that the players at their disposal haven’t got the same quality as those at the top of the Premier League. It would help if a bit of pragmatism was thrown into the mix and teams played to their strengths. If Manning is given plenty of time and money his style of play could easily work at City. On the other hand, if he’s got to work with a meagre budget he may struggle
  3. I agree with the first sentence. Unfortunately I do still care which makes the current situation all the more depressing.
  4. Are there any living Norwich fans in the ground? It’s very quiet from them, but so it is from the rest of the ground.
  5. Their forum is similar to ours in some ways - talk of cider, trains and a bit of doom and gloom
  6. Why not go back in time a bit further and talk about Bristol St George (now Roman Glass St George). It is the oldest club in Bristol and was quite successful in the late 1800s (pretty good stand as well)
  7. What about Terry Cooper? He had a fantastic career for Leeds and England before becoming City’s manager. (I’ll ignore his brief spell at Eastville). Although his time managing City was in the 4th and 3rd division what he achieved, in the dire circumstances of those times, was amazing
  8. On a similar theme, although it sounds a bit morbid, old gravestones in churchyards are interesting. Families who lived in the 1800s - there must be a story
  9. We just need someone on the forum who is an expert on buses. I used to work with someone who was an expert on the various types of post boxes that are installed. It was fascinating
  10. I tried to watch Robins TV on the TV but had internet problems so ended up on an iPad. No problems with that
  11. I’ve watched domestic mid week games that were available in the UK, without a VPN. I haven’t done it this season as I’ve used a PC. I’m going to have to use the TV tonight so we’ll see if it still works. How did I do it? 1) Select Google on the home screen of the TV 2) Enter Bristol Sport into the Google search and then follow the same procedure as I would if I was using a PC. It was a bit long winded as I had to enter all the details using the TV remote keypad, which is slower than a keyboard. As mentioned above, I haven’t used the TV this season so I live in hope that nothing has changed and it still works. (I’m never confident with Bristol Sport). I’ll let you know if I succeed
  12. As usual the info on Robins TV is not entirely correct. . I’ve watched it on my smart TV after opening Google on the TV. It may be that some TVs are compatible and some aren’t
  13. If it’s a smart TV it might have Google as an option. Then you just get onto Bristol Sport in the usual way
  14. It’s Bristol Rovers standard. An embarrassment
  15. The 2013 line up is interesting. A mix of some good player and 3 or 4 who are dubious to say the least.
  16. There may be 20k members but how many post regularly? There is a small core who provide the majority of the input, another smallish group who post semi frequently and the majority who either never post or post once in a blue moon.
  17. @Never to the dark side - A risky strategy as it’s about a 25-30 minute walk from the ground to the station. With the extra extra time we get nowadays, plus a delay in leaving the ground it could result in a run to catch the train. Perhaps this explains why you’re always out of breath when we hear you on Radio Bristol
  18. Didn’t you mean infamous?

Can anyone write a song about Clarks pies?
  21. This is nothing like Paul Cheesley. He had one injury which, with the proper medical treatment available today, could easily have been diagnosed and treated. Instead, City’s medical team devised their own recovery plan. When they belatedly sent him to see a specialist, 3 months later, the specialist told him the training he had been forced to do was the worst thing possible for his injury
  22. Gay Meadow, the old Shrewsbury ground, the night John Atyeo scored 4 goals. It’s been downhill all the way since then
  23. I can’t imagine Benarous ever playing for City again, and possibly it’s the end of his career at professional level. Some players are doomed from a fitness / injury perspective and nothing can be done
  24. If viewing red gives teams a boost it will affect the opposition, equally as much as City, as the opposition has to look at City’s shirts
  25. By the time we get to the Premier League AI will have taken over and players replaced by holograms. Matches will be streamed so that you can watch them any time you like.
