Turned Weimann  into one of the best strikers in the devision for starters. Apparently he’s quite sought after and worth a lot more than he was a year ago.

A win on the weekend and the mood around Ashton gate will be the best it has been for years.

Also brought through Scott, Semenyo and Conway. Reduced a bloated overpaid squad with minimal funds to recruit. Unfortunately some people are so blinkered. Reminds me of the Monty Python sketch, what did the Romans ever do for us.

I don’t really see SB making it here to be honest. Not as a forward anyway…

Quite possibly, it's always the most difficult step, stepping up to the first team.

I think he has done fairly well but mainly been played out of position so difficult to assess his ability as a forward. Only just turned 20 so has plenty of time to adapt and make an impression, far to early to make any judgement on the kid.

It was a release that I found a little surprising.

Nige seems to like playing a big, strong, bustling forward and there were times last season where we played Martin to a near standstill. A few 20 minute sub cameos would have been useful to give Martin a break and given an opportunity to fully appraise the lad.

We still have no like-for-like back up for Martin, which given he’s a year older makes the decision to release even stranger.

Behind most of Nige’s decisions (notwithstanding a very few questionable subs, tactics, playing people out of position and incomings) but this player release is one I can’t quite fathom.

I don't see the comparison in playing styles so not like for like in my eyes.

Simply Britton is not good enough at our level, he isn't/wasn't even our best youth striker hence seeing Bell an Conway given opportunities from the bench.

  4. @headhunter I've heard or seen you suggest several times he could play backup to Martin.

A very good finisher but he is not up to Championship standard in the rest of his game and athleticism, his loans suggest he is not even a decent lower league player yet.

He needs to be playing and best of luck to him. The fact that he is playing in the Irish 2nd Division says exactly where he is right now as a player.  I hope he goes on to have decent career, I suspect that will be either League 2 or lower.

I’d like regular updates not just from u23s but u18s too.  Now that we consume quite a few u23 matches via Robinstv I’d like to know more about the u18s who break into the u23s.  As the u23s are the link to the first team, I just want more!

It's about getting the right balance, I am  happy to have more information about the Academy in general and u23/u18 players and as long as we're not adding more pressure to these teenagers or young adults.

Not sure we need to know about every single injury for example. Like I said it's finding the appropriate balance.

Utter waste of time. Twenty odd years of his stewardship and what have we got? SL grinning like the village idiot as his" legacy" is being polished by pop concerts. festivals etc., to leave him even wealthier when he finally sells up.

Oh, football, is that the game with the round ball or the oval ball, just asking? Not that interested to be honest, produces nothing for my future wealth increase

I just thank God every night, that I had a spare bedroom. I was at least bright enough to see the possibilities and grabbed onto Peter Hargreaves shirt tail. Who says an accountant (qualified?) is the dullest bloke on the planet and will empty the pub in under five minutes? Peter stays in Somerset and pays his full UK taxes, Sap. It's lovely in Guernsey. Am thinking of having Davefevs and some of his sycophantic disciples over for a day or two

    Are you okay honey?

Didn’t MacGregor all but confirmed this signing a few days ago? Not saying that guarantees anything but a positive sign nonetheless

It's been confirmed by multiple media sources both here and abroad. I think it's a matter of time but dotting the i's and crossing the t's may take a bit of time hence the delay in officially announcing the deal.

  8. People need a little patience in my opinion.

It was leaked only Thursday, foreign signing are more complicated with international clearance/work permits required. He could also be still on his summer break.

I doubt much progressed over the weekend if it's paper work required. His current contract runs until the end of the month so may not be able to complete all the documents or officially announce until then.

  9. The very scant info I can find on Bajic is he is considered a modern style sweeper keeper. Looks to come off his line with good anticipation and feet, seems good at taking crosses and releasing/distributing the ball at speed.

With O'Leary this season his main plus was his distribution so not surprised that we are looking at a keeper to develop with this skillset under Bentley.

  10. I think loaning O'Leary suits all parties, he gets more game time and he isn't massively far off the required standard though I do feel it could be make or break for him.

If he has a stand out season and breaks fully into the Irish squad then he has chance to come back and challenge for number 1 or we get a decent fee. If not then it probably is time to move on a play somewhere else as a number 1.

No chance Forest would take a punt on him now. If he is going to sign for us, it will happen in the next few days, if he ain't signed by next weekend, he clearly has his sights on bigger clubs than us.

Why by next week, he could be on holiday or like most of us would likely do is biding his time until his deal expires to see what opportunities arise.

Hopefully he does sign for us but it could be tomorrow or a month's time.
