In the office today and its absolute air-con bliss, I am actually tempted to kip in here tonight.  I went outside just now and the heat hits you like a brick, its very noticeable compared to 'normal' summer days

It’s just like landing in India and  stepping off the plane…. Lovely.  Give it 3 or 4 months and all those moaning it’s too hot will be moaning it’s too cold and they can’t afford to put the heating on.  The weather takes up an inordinate amount of this countries time.

  2. Not a fan of either rap or the PSB, but wanted to watch the last night, so stuck with the PSB, great set.

Reminds me of a festival I went to where UB40 headlined the Thursday night, again wasn’t interested to start with, but they were brilliant, festivals definitely introduce to music you wouldn’t normally listen too.

  3. I’m certainly not a Hamilton fan, but I wouldn’t want to see him end his career because the car design makes it impossible for him to put up with the pain inflicted by the design.

Interesting there was a lot of concern for the Ferrari reliability after Sundays race, when Verstappen and Leclerc have 2 technical DNF’s each.  Long way to go yet, some of these cars may well develop more issues with reliability due to the porpoising you can only insulate components from excessive vibration so much.

It does make me sad when I see a pub converted to a supermarket or flats, or ripped out and renovated.

I used to go hang out in Bath (late 80s - early 00s) and most of the pubs in the city centre then, were scruffy with their own unique character. It's a real shame that particular vibe has disappeared. *Many of those pubs have been "Farrow & Balled" with their dark wood panelling painted cream and turned into a gastropub.

*Apart from The Bell in Walcot Street, of course.

The Old Green Tree still survives as a ‘proper’ pub.

  5. Radio 5 covering the situation outside a lot more than BT Sport.  They are saying there were ticketless fans, I guess it’s easier to close the gates and turn them all back than cope with a mass of ticketless fans. - if that’s what has happened.

If your solution just ends up with more people giving and being on the receiving end of physical violence that doesn't sound like much of a solution to me though! You've "out bullied" the bully in your case, so they go off to bully someone else instead. More people who think being violent is an answer, more people who are subject to it.

The bullies just end up learning to punch down onto the most vulnerable instead, or at least the more vulnerable. I guess it's a fix if you're not one of them. That's not the kind of society I want to live in though (and I'm not saying you do or think that's a good thing by the way, just to be clear).

Not sure there is another way when you are a child.  I was bullied at school by one individual, in the end I hit back, he never bullied me again (nor did anyone else) I was 10, what else could I have done?

  7. If that was the other way round, the sags would be shouting from the rooftops and demanding an inquiry/legal action if a team played an under strength side and potentially had a player who since being sold could net the club a few quid.

I just don’t get this attitude of congratulating them and thinking it would be good to have two clubs at the same level we’d be better served if they went bust and we became a one club city.

FTG I hope they have a torrid season in Division 3.

Being able to change it is one thing, but the sheer jubilation at perceived loopholes (at least based on social media and forums) and unquestioning support in a range of ways quite another.

I'd hope that we, as fans, would take greater issue even if unable to ultimately affect change.

The vocal minority?   I’ve no idea if that’s the case, I’m sure there will have been Derby fans who took issue with it, but were as powerless as we are in influencing the running of our club.

Since owners aren't personally liable how do you sanction clubs without affecting fans?

And fans aren't innocent bystanders if they take no interest in how their clubs are run while demanding their owners take financial risks to secure promotion.

Any sympathy I have for Derby fans is tempered by the fact that they appeared mostly to back Morris as he ran their club into the ground.

As fans, what could we do to change the way Steve Lansdown runs our club?  Not a lot I’d say, the only way would be a season and on the day ticket boycott that had nigh on 100% support.
