Coventry City Carabao Cup away match day thread
2015 replied to Jerseybean's topic in The Havanatopia Match Day Archive
Wasn't about to keep up to date last night, I assume we played well ? And was it a strong Coventry side? -
When Semenyo is back fit he will free up plenty of space for the other attackers because of his sheer pace and power he has. Can't wait for him to return and link up with the rest.

Vyner is good in friendlies, good in cup matches, good when the pressure isn't on. But when put under pressure and when we need concentration and to be tight, he loses his cool and does some really silly naive things. He hasn't learned and he won't learn. Not good enough in Midfield in the long run either.

Zero expectancy here, but losing the first two games is not great for confidence. It is natural for fans to be a little concerned.

Sunderland at home match day thread

Tough game I think. Loud away following Alex Neil and his ugly tactics Keith Stroud Big crowd We miss Semenyo -
All I'm saying is because of the above reasons that i've stated in my previous post, the 2 games shouldn't be compared as it's not a fair comparison.
-
It's a totally different game. Money, coaching, physical attributes, depth of quality globally makes it a different sport/world entirely to what the women play. It's extremely hard for a man to make it professional in football, compared to a woman making it as a professional footballer, and that is down to girls not being into football or encouraged to play. That could and hopefully will change now. Hopefully one day the Women's game gets there, but take it on face value for what it is, the tournament was good and the games i've seen were exciting, the skill level has massively improved.
-
It's a very simple way of looking at it, but as usual so many want to just use it as a way to take a moral high ground and have a go at the men England won a tournament, just enjoy it.
-
I don't get the comparisons to the Men's game. It's a totally different Sport imo. I take the Women's game on face value, and for what it's worth they've come a long way in the last 10 years. Much more exciting than it once was. The comparisons to Men isn't fair on them or the Men. I am delighted for the England team who won the Tournament, just do not think it's fair or right to use it as a stick to beat Men with. As for the comments about toxicity and tribalism in the Men's game - I love that aspect of rivalry, tense atmosphere and banter between 2 sets of fans. It creates special moments and memories. Anyway delighted for the Women and I hope their game goes from strength to strength.

I didn't mind it at all, but think they've done Colin Murray dirty still - a brilliant presenter who has always been overlooked

Oh it was Linnington who was the Ref, why am I not surprised. Been dreadful for years, about time he retired

Their side looks an unknown mess. Hopefully we can reap the benefits of them never really playing together. -
It must really hurt them that no matter how rich the Prem may be, that there are millions of supporters in this Country who do not support a Prem side. The whole Super League thing still lingers, the big 6 clubs do not and never will understand the passion the supporters of the clubs from outside of their bubble and they don't know that the average English 'legacy' fan which is what they called us cares more about the League system in general than seeing the best play the best every week. This story posted by The Guardian is standard, every year there will be something else, just for them to try and take more. It won't happen.
-
Part of me thinks there is a bitterness from the Premier League towards EFL just because lower league football is still so popular in this Country, more so than any other Football League pyramid in Europe and they will try and do anything to destroy it if possible just to line their own greedy pockets.

Nigel Pearson will be on Sounds of the City Monday 25th July
2015 replied to Never to the dark side's topic in Football Chat
For a midfielder of his talent especially. It's poor no matter how people try spin it. Even Scott has managed to bag a few of each in 1 season. I know, players are used differently, but I must admit I have expected some sort of a goal and assist return from Massengo, but it hasn't really happened. I rate the player, but I've expected more and I don't think it's a tall order when you have been outscored by both Andy King and Matty James -

It's not as if we'll miss all those goals Massengo has been scoring or all of them assists. He needs to move on for the benefit of both us and himself. Lets be honest for the money we spent, it hasn't been good business so far. -
Vyner has too many lapses in concentration at this level to ever be consistently a good player in the Championship. I just think he is a League 1 or 2 defender is all really and the mistakes he makes will always get punished in our League. He's got a good attitude, but not good enough

Oh look here's Hull coming down the motorway
