On Saturday back 3 with WBs in and out of possession!!!

    Bingo AA.

Got to be honest thought we were 3 at back when attacking and more of a four out of possession. Just often didn't work out that way against Huddersfield, because they were countering so we were still in a three. The few times they passed around thought we dropped to a 4.

Man City have been particularly devious too. Obstructing legal proceedings and threatening journalists that crossed their path.

If found guilty, it will be a huge story felt across the footballing ball, and I see no reason why the EFL should accept them (assuming they are given a massive points deduction/automatically relegated).

The problem is it will become political and the UK government won't allow their friends in Abu Dhabi to be offended, or made to feel unwelcome. So they'll probably get off it somehow, even tho it is obvious they have been gaming the system.

I seem to remember Juventus threatening to go through Italian civil courts and getting blocked because FIFA won't accept any form of government involvement in the running of the national leagues. I could have that wrong though. - Although in this scenario FIFA are arguably just as much in their pocket so probably wouldn't be an obstacle.

2,675-point deduction incoming for Man City.

In all honesty if they (and Chelsea) have breached rules as heavily as implied-  it would be great if the Prem and EFL worked together and they were made an example of and relegated to the bottom tier. Similar to Rangers when they had their debt crisis or relegation and points penalty like Juventus during the match-fixing scandal. The punishment needs to be an example and a deterrent. I have no faith this is what will happen though.

I can remember a few Blackburn fans saying after that Scott was by far the better player on the day , like you say Dave I think they look at him as there version of Scott but we’re very honest with there assessment after that Scott was a fair bit ahead of Wharton

They did indeed. I like looking at our opposition + their forums and they are one of the few sets of opposition fans who seem to acknowledge + evaluate how the opponents play - rather than the more typical "we were shit" or "they were lucky" if they lose, and "we battered then" if they win.

  5. I could be wrong, but isn't the "hamstring ripped off the bone" Pisano's injury and predating Holden as head coach? I think things are obviously pretty dysfunctional up top, but it is important to remember Holden is selling himself in this interview. The quote in the photo hardly matches the football we saw under him.

Regardless of who we do sign in January, all I ask is please please please do not let it be anyone from bloody Oxford! Simply not good enough to improve what we have, yet would be the easy move for Manning to make.

Sykes was from Oxford, Atkinson too. Not saying you're wrong, but surely not impossible they have players who could/can step up and they would already know LM's style.

No, both Stefan Bajic and Lewis Thomas both count as “professional standing” (or whatever it’s called).

Although Thomas only contract until January.

My feeling is Thomas goes in Jan, but we'll see.

I think he's believing his own hype with the International call up. I just can't see what he gives the team. I've said it before, under Pearson's pacey counter attacking style, that suits Sam Bell. Manning's posession based style negates this and shows up his lack of technical close ball control ability which is needed to play this way. With his game he runs off the shoulder and is generally a good finisher. With his back to goal he offers nothing.

Don't like that comment at all. I can see why people are debating whether he's good enough etc, but nothing about Sam suggests he has that kind of attitude at all.

Ideal word. Goal scorer and goalkeeper. If Max gets injured we are in deep shit. I can’t believe our position with the keepers .

I think there's a good chance we qualify for an emergency loan if Max is out - don't think that makes it Ok, but it will be in mind. Tough to get a quality GK mid season.

If they had used this as an explanation , just say we don't feel the situation is working with Pearson's health or whatever. Then there wouldn't have been such bad feeling from fans IMO.

I think they should have just said it wasn't working, I'm pretty sure they can't use his health as a reason without opening themselves up to legal issues.

I would imagine under Nige we may have got a point or more in these fixtures. That would put us a win off the play offs. I think 5th and 6th are anyone’s. No reason why we couldn’t make a push for them. If he was allowed to replace Scott I would have expected it.

LM has already stated it will take three windows. Excuses at the ready. I want him to succeed and I unlike many won’t fault him for no reason but it’s not been a great start.

I feel everyone is of much of muchness ( bar top 4) Hence we have been in every game and not been soundly beat by anyone.

I  seem to have missed some press stuff this week. Did LM say three windows? I missed that - I saw someone posting that before but thought it was in the context of comparing him to LJ and implying they wouldn't be surprised to hear him say that. Do you know which interview he said that in?

Despite all that's been said about how good Manning is at working with young players, I don't think he actually trusts when there is 3 Championship points on the line.

During Pearsons time here I commented that Pearson didn't care about his own record so was therefore willing to play youngsters.

Mannings comments in the week about Yeboah were interesting.

Missed that. What did he say?

  13. He's not really an LW though, is he? He's definitely not a LWB. Doesn't really suit a front three, would be better in a two. Personally, I think he's pretty disciplined and follows instructions well, tracks back etc.

Needs to show a bit more individual footballing intelligence and know when not to follow team structure and play his own style. I think what he really wants (playing in the position he is LW/LF) is to cut inside and shoot with his right. He needs to realise if he goes on the outside more often it will actually stop the FB and CB's from being constantly ready for him to cut inside.

I think he does find space well and get on the ball just needs to do more with it.

  14. I think you have a group of fans who wanted NP gone for a long time giving credit to the performances under LM they would have never given if NP was still in charge. And a group of fans still so angry about NP going (and the way the club handled it) who would have been seeing way more positives if we'd had the exact same performances and NP was still here.

1:1 is probably the fair result - given that Huddersfield probably should have had a pen and we edged the game. It wasn't our best-ever performance or our worst. But it was an away draw in f$%^ing awful conditions and there were positive signs.

I don't see how if you're being balanced there is any need to be hyperbolic about this game either way.

This has probably been discussed, but should Tanner have taken one for the team when chasing the guy for their goal, and would he have been sent off?

I thought he should. Looking at the replay I think he decides to, but it's too late, tries to grab the arm/shirt but he is already away. It just takes him that split second too long to decide.

Tanner is going to be a really good player and he is doing well at playing RB + slotting into a three at the back when he needs to + Starting to be more dangerous going forward.  I like him (Tanner) and rate Pring really highly, but I really wish we had competition for these positions right now - (Roberts and McCorrie being injured).

decent performance - hope wide players watch McGinn's goal for Villa. As with better delivery from promising positions we would have one comfortably. They had one real chance from the breakaway and scored. We fashioned plenty but final ball often poor- would bring on Cornick ahead of Mehmeti who disappointed when in promising positions. Good to see Sukes back on the right.

We do really lack a genuinely left-footed attacker to play down the left. We don't really get many good crosses in from that side.

**** me this Bristol commentary lot are I just don't have the words to express how much I like this post!

They are just walking through our defence. Only a matter of time.

Second best everywhere. Headley being targetted.

They continue to walk through us. Have we even touched the ball the last few minutes?

Why are we letting teams like Bristol have all the ball???

Come on Town ffs! We're at home 🤬

It would appear normal service is resumed.

you cant beat a goal against the run of ....................

Nice breakaway goal . Do we really think we will add or hold on to the win ?

Playing much better since we scored, definitely growing in confidence.

No idea how we're winning but we'll take it

Between about 10 and 15 minutes I don’t think I’ve seen a team that much under the pump, at home, in a long time. Like attack and defence. Then Town break like an away side and score. Mad.

Before the goal, that had the look of a 0-2 or 0-3 at half time. We have then looked a lot more composed after the goal and showing a bit more attacking intent. But then again it was hard not to show more attacking intent than before. Its not pretty, but right now its working. Bristol will score at least 1 in my opinion so we need to score again.

oh.........................bugger And that's why Pearson should never be right back.

Can't argue with that, they were going to get one eventually with the amount of times they've carved us open

This ref is so lax, letting absolutely everything slide and ignoring tough decisions. Should've had a pen there

That was such a blatant penalty 😂

Handball that. Never getting a penalty are we?

City throwing lots of subs on to try and win it.

Ward off defender on. We are not trying to win it apparently

We haven't created a single chance this half.

We do need to get in the opposition half for him to be of any use to us.

We look absolutely knackered. Wew should have as much left in the tank as they do!

We have a smaller squad and an injury crisis, so have been playing some players more than we probably should be doing.

We have been chasing them around all game.

one way traffic at the moment

Why the **** did we play that free kick short to REG at the end after sending all the centre halves up? So so poor.

Yes knight behind strikers makes more sense. But is Pring not fully fit or LM making a statement on his form.

To me it shows that the squad just cannot cover injured players positions . And this 'Top six squad' quoted from our owners is total bollocks

Think this is spot on. Love Pring, but hasn't been his best and in an ideal world you'd have Roberts either come in or at least be pushing Pring in training. With the injuries we don't really have the players to cover + rest when needed.

Despite my previous comments in this thread I do find the lineup surprising overall and it's certainly not the team I would pick, I just think there is no point over speculating why the changes were made until we see how we actually line up and perform. It's certainly a gutsy call and one that could lead to criticism or praise.

Tbf you’d hope teams aren’t checking twitter an hour before the game so they can decide on a game plan

You're not going to change your entire game plan, but you're definitely going to look at the positions line up. And you're definitely going to give a team talk before the start of the game. It probably makes very little difference them not knowing, but it might confuse a little and there is no benefit to us giving that info before the game starts.

STOP PLAYING SYKES OUT OF POSITION.

I don’t get it. I like Williams but free flowing he isn’t.

Very strange and a tad depressing.

I suspect you are right about Sykes LB - although we don't know for sure, Bell had a few games as Wing back when first breaking through. Also, it's difficult to know who else to play there. Sykes is versatile and is good 1v1 in defense. If Pring and TGH did take a knock who do we play LB? I'd argue Sykes is are best option, not saying it's worth the trade of losing him from attack, but if it is a case of not being able to start Kal, TGH or Pring then who would be better?

  21. 1 minute ago, Wade Wilson said:

I wish the club would tell us if that’s the case or not. Always see tweets from other teams like “”so and so misses out today with a minor knee injury”.

Meanwhile we’ve all gotta turn into Sherlock Holmes trying to figure out what’s going on.

I'd prefer we hear too, but my preference is for after the game. Better to keep the opposition guessing and a little unsure of things.
