  1. I was talking to a friend about parachute payments last night. Obviously, on some level, they are needed, it would be hard to compete in the prem without paying some prem-level fees etc.

    Two thoughts we had were

    1. Could we make it mandatory for all contracts to include relegation and promotion clauses? In the same way, all players in Spain must have release fee clauses. That doesn't solve all the issues but would help mitigate some of the damage from relegation.

    2. Could you have a system where parachute payments were optional? + The amount you decide to take is optional and if you are promoted back to the prem you have the payments deducted from your prem income.

I don't have enough detailed knowledge to know if theses could work. Would be interesting to know what others think.

  2. Some decent stuff in them. Manning talking in more detail about tactics and saying he doesn't see the project as a rebuild.

Weimann saying how he's been playing with pain in recent games, and he's only just getting past that.

A lot more in there, those are just a couple of bits I pulled out.

I still think NP felt Scott was staying. And he felt let down by the suits for not doing more to keep him at the club, our midfield with Scott is a different animal.

As it's turned out (the I juries he's had this season) Scott going probably was for the best as he would have barely featured. It's the lack of reinvestment that has cost us.

The frustration isn’t REALLY on Manning, it’s on the ownership for forcing us through another transition when we really didn’t need one. Whoever came in was drinking from a poisoned chalice.

Nige had patience in his early tenure as 1) he took over a shit show and 2) he was a well known and respected manager who came in to save us.

Sacking Pearson was dumb and will have long lasting repercussions - as many of us suspected.

My issue is if we put unnecessary pressure on LM  and don't give him a chance, because of how stupid the ownership were in the sacking (and in particular the reasons they gave) then we risk ruining the work NP did. He shouldn't have gone, but he left us with a superb platform to build on and LM is a manager with great potential, I think we need to give him time.

You can thank me for this comeback to 2-2.

I switched on and saw our 2 goals immediately.

Looks like Simon in Wincester is taking credit too according to BBC

I'm taking the credit for those two England goals. Switch over to the game and we immediately score twice. You're welcome, England fans.

2 - maybe 3 (don't know your gender OENL) men taking credit for the Women turning it around. 😂

Watching Manning’s press conference he’s getting better.

Monday night he was pretty good, the presser is very good. More relaxed, more insight and some personal insight.

Difficult to call Sunday and how he will come back after his first loss.

I think watching the player ones too - Cornick's one today really shows the buy-in from the players. I know there will always be an element of lipservice in club interviews, but its pretty clear HC is enjoying working with LM and the that the players are buying into his methods.

Cornick speaks really well in general and is clearly pretty relaxed with interviews. Link here if you want to see it.

My expectations this season is on the board. Not LM, although that does kinda put an expectations on LM by default. However due to what the board have stated, they should and will be judged on their ability to bring in a head coach to meet the expectations they publicly set.

If in May we are celebrating promotion to the Championship then I'll be praising Jon to high heaven for his decisions.

However equally if we are not, I'll be criticising him.

I hope we never have to celebrate promotion the championship again!

  8. I think it gave lots of answers. 1st half we were patient and took the backward pass unless there was a good option on and kept the ball. Second half we constantly played more direct and didn't get into the game. 1st half felt like what LM wants and 2nd looked like we panicked after going behind and lost the game plan. It was the first time we've been behind since LM arrived and players need to show more commitment/belief in the style of play.

  9. Conway will get goals. Should have done better with the chances today, but he's a good finisher + even the very best strikers have periods without scoring. He's in the right places and his hold-up play was much better today. Personally, I think the opposite of the general consensus here - I think he's our best finisher and you play him no matter what (unless we sign someone), when he gets a goal he'll go on a run of scoring them.

If we replicated our first half performance in the second half I think we would have been fine today. When we start playing longer/looking for the Hollywood pass we just end up isolating whoever is upfront.

No, he'll be under the close eye of Tinnion, and no way he'll want to risk rocking the boat within 4 weeks of being here.

It is weird though. Just giving ourselves a potential, marginal disadvantage.

Definitely hope a journo asks post match.

I'd like to see it as a question too. It would be good to at least understand the rationale - Not saying it's a huge deal just would like to understand it.
