As I’ve mentioned previously, I’m pretty open about who I am in real life.  It’s nice to have a chat with some posters on here in real life at AG.  I even met Lez / Dog / Gabrielle walking through the concourse once, seemed an alright guy too!

It was meant to be a joke. I think it was pretty clear it was you - Just like glasses don't really hide the fact Clark is Superman.

I think Phil was referring to me….my temporary name and pic change from Davefevs to Spreadsheet Boy….not the other users.

Ill change my name back, although I like the avatar, thanks Silvio.

Surely you need a version of the art without the mask/galsses so we can all do our superman/clark kent reaction. Sporeadsheetbot was FEVs all along!😵

So you were annoyed that his post with Nahki Wells stats wasn't clearly directed at you, and then he says that his post with Nahki Wells stats was for the whole thread (in a thread about Nahki Wells!) and then you are annoyed because it obviously was directed at you!   😂

I’ve watched every game which to my mind is more relevant than training. No one can say that Wiemann has done anything that warrants selection, if he’s looking like Messi in training he’s not transferring that to match days

I think the point @UncleRedis making is that LM hasn't watched every match and will be working off what he has seen in training.

  5. I think the simplest thing to do is take this as the baseline for Manning.

Not a great performance, but a point and a clean sheet.

No point judging him directly on this in isolation, or trying too hard to compare him to NP. We can use this performance to see what effect he has over the international break. I would expect to see a significant improvement and the beginnings of his style of football. I think from a fan's perspective it's actually a really good opportunity to see what impact he can have.

  6. I think it's a bit disingenuous to imply Briain wasn't a big part of Scott's move - he is a big part of the Guernsey link and has cultivated that relationship, which has become even stronger still since Scott moved. It's his relationship with Tony Vance that really had us in a good position to get Scott.

Seymenyo as much as I hate to say it is really on Ashton. Hockaday made it clear at the time that there was a lot of interest, but Ashton made it clear if he left it had to be to us.

Obviously, neither of them discovered the players, but it's hard to deny they played big roles in them arriving at the club.

I think it's hard to be certain what has happened behind the scenes with everything in the last few weeks. And we don't know exactly what Tinnions role involves Technical Director can mean many things in football. It could easily be that he is responsible for managing the exit and arrival of managers/coaches - in which case if instructed to move NP on and bring in Manning he would literally be doing his job, wouldn't really make him a snake. Now if that were the case he clearly didn't do a good job of the optics and communication, but he wouldn't really have a choice on if it happened or not.

I agree we need Jon Lansdown to clarify that. He set the expectation so I would expect him to lay out the test of whether the manager he appointed succeeds or fails. Hopefully JL will update the fans in the coming weeks as to whether 7th is good enough or not.

To be fair it would be a hard thing to clarify. 7th can be achieved in many ways. Suppose we are playing scrappy football, scrapping draws and the wins here and there and finish several points adrift of 6th in 7th place. That is very different from, having a bad start whilst the team adapts and then finding it's footing/understanding his tactics and winning most games on the run-in whilst playing exciting football and missing out on 6th by a 1 point. Either of those could happen and anything in between, it's a difficult one to explain upfront.

His interview is pretty good. I can see why he appealed, lots of buzzwords JL etc would’ve liked. It’s not LJ style waffle, but will take some adjusting after Pearson’s media handling which I think most people enjoyed.

Pretty much everything he says in interview covers what JL claimed we wanted - so it’s reassuring that it aligns.. I think.

I can see why people are making the comparisons with LJ, but I think Manning seems like a coach who has a style of play that he doesn't tinker with all the time.

I actually think LJ is a good coach and was good at managing us up until he started to believe his own hype (for me that was after Man U win) - then it was an ego trip for him,  he started talking about outwitting the other manager more and more. He lost sight of having a defined system and style and made it about his ego and his battle with the other manager, rather than about the team.

Manning has (from what I have been reading) a set style and whilst he can be a little flexible with the overall formation that style and identity doesn't change.

Thanks for that. Added it to the OP. I think overall it's a better interview than we've had. Still don't agree with what happened at all, but good to at least have a journalist ask some of the questions we've wanted answers too.

FFP plays a part too, it does limit expenditure in certain areas but less so in others.

Genuine question - if restructured so BCFC owned all the physical assets (Ashton Gate, training ground, etc), could they 'charge' a high rent to all the other clubs for use them? Could it be a loophole if you wanted to put money into the football club? Not saying I would want us to take that risk etc, but could we do that and count that as revenue?
