  1. Firstly, what exactly is meant by free? ‘For fans: We propose free viewing of all Super League matches’ Does this mean ‘free to air’, i.e. available on BBC or ITV, or on satellite/cable TV (which still requires a paid subscription), but not ‘pay per view’? Whatever, ‘free to air’ or ‘free’ satellite/cable, it will inevitably change once (they hope) people become interested. Secondly, in so far as it concerns English football, i.e. The Premier League, instead of becoming embroiled in a long, drawn out legal process, why can’t they just say to teams that they are free to join should they wish, but the fixture list, be it League matches, FA or League Cups, will not change to accommodate you. Accordingly, should you find yourself engaged in a Super League match that clashes with a Premier League match, that is your concern and your concern only. It is for you to decide whether or not to fulfil the PL fixture, with a reserve team if need be, or to forfeit the three points available, in addition to incurring the accompanying fines etc. Our League, our rules….
  2. For some reason, I always thought he had Barbadian origins. Well, of course, I checked, and I see he is a Denbighshire boy, born in Bodelwyddan.
  3. I really can’t remember when and/or where I read it, but I was convinced the fee was £2M, of which £700K was a non-refundable loan fee. Hence, should we wish to make the deal permanent, the outstanding balance of £1.3M would be due.
  4. No doubt we shall find out next month, but my guess is that we shall be trying to get LM’s old central midfielder from Oxford, Brannagon I believe his name is. I daresay talks have already started.
  5. I had almost forgotten about him. I do recall, though, that there were many on here and elsewhere suggesting that 'our management' had made an horrendous error in letting him leave after his loan spell at Wimbledon (notwithstanding that it was, I believe, his own choice and preference in order to get regular first team football). A similar outcry ensued when we released Louis Britton - where is he now?
  6. As did a more local referee, a certain Mr. Hamer, who had the misfortune to officiate a Gloucestershire Cup Final between City and Rovers.
  7. I think you are mistaken there. The Mayflower is a Chinese restaurant near to Bristol Bus Station, as @Robbored and several others on here will confirm.
  8. To be fair to GT, he does put in some very good crosses.
  9. I remember it well and it was one of my favourite games. First match of the season, Sunderland playing in grey and, to cap it all, I got Mick McGiven’d autograph.
  10. I thought that was the restaurant I remembered and, now you mention going downstairs to reach it, my memory is confirmed . Glad you enjoyed your meal.
  11. I note that you are using the tekniccal spelling of his name, but I agree with your comment and also question why he has effectively been promoted to a position for which he proved unequivocally unsuitable just a few (Well, almost twenty) years ago. I think it is a great shame that he now appears to have vacated a position in which he has achieved some impressive successes, and I just hope that the Club don't pay for what I consider to be a series of extremely questionable, short-sighted and, dare I say, impetuous decisions.
  12. A bargain for a player who now knows the Club and whose value must surely now be in excess of the original £2M price, especially having already effectively made a down payment of £700K.
  13. Another favourite of mine was 'With a Girl like You', although I loved the title of 'I am the Waitress' on their Magical History Tour album.
  14. Indeed, I do, as witnessed by my earlier post. I feel good, I feel bad. I feel happy, I feel sad. Am I in love? Ah, it sounded more like The Beatles than The Beatles ever did.
  15. I still possess and sometimes play The Rutles CD. Absolutely fantastic.
  16. Given the Taunton 'roads' of a few years ago, who would have thought that Somerset would have two spinners in England's squad for a tour of India.
  17. The price you pay if you mess around with Weetabix .
  18. Correct. He played almost 100 games for Coventry at the start of his career.
  19. Yugoslavia and what used to be Czechoslovakia would be more interesting, albeit a potential minefield .
  20. Done Sir, and Sorry Sir. As I am sure you are aware, though, Northern Ireland was only formed (and became part of the UK) after the end of the Great War.
  21. Hmmm. Back in the early 18th Century, the Kingdoms of England (which then included Wales) and Scotland unified and signed a Treaty to form the Kingdom of Great Britain, later incorporating Ireland to form the State of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, encompassing all four (Home) Nations or Countries. England and ScotIand are different Countries (each with their own jurisdictions - don't get me started on the reasons why Scottish MPs can vote in the UK Government, whereas English MPs have no such rights in the Scottish Government), although both form part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. I believe, therefore, that RM travelled from the north-east of one Country (Scotland) to the south-west of another Country (England). As you were.
  22. The Moody Blues were one of my favourite groups when I was younger. He later went on to play with Wings.
