Are they going to stop the crowd cheering, chanting etc? I think you are over estimating the number of people who care enough to stop enjoying themselves.

Just watching the early morning Countdown on C4+1 and it appears they are not showing advertising, which seems a reasonable compromise. As far as cancelling Saturday's matches, my question is; what value is there in it? Are we expected to sit in darkened rooms, watching them rehashing the same facts and film from Elizabeth's life? No we're not, some will of course but more will be looking around for alternative entertainment which seems a pointless disruption.

Who celebrates 140 as a landmark date? A club that doesn't think it will make it 150?

Electronic is the greener option. The only thing really standing in the way is that generation that technology has passed by, but I don't think there are many that can't use a debit card these days. People eventually got to grips with decimalisation after all This might be a good time to start phasing out though. More and more shops are taking the unilateral decision to go cashless, Starbucks being the latest, less danger of being robbed, less time counting takings and so on. Payment technology is being used on market stalls and even by Big Issue sellers these days. I used a cash machine yesterday to put a £10 note in a birthday card and realised it was the first time I had used one this year! I only did it because I couldn't find a specific gift card at short notice. It's the future isn't it?

They are not the only fund platform that are struggling, there is far less investment available in tough times. I have a SIPP with H&L but I have been considering moving a portion of it into a normal savings account to offset the losses I have incurred in the last 6 months, I am sure others have as well. Less investment, less fees for H&L. They also didn't do themselves any favours by giving a high rating to an investment fund right up to the day it went bust.

I was under the impression that it was going to Greene King. I have to say it was the pub of choice when we first moved here, but it was never the same after they remodelled it and moved the bar etc, it lost something then. The food has always been good, but became their main focus and it became more like the Windmill. We liked the old guy, but not so keen on the family members who started to become more prominent, it was no surprise that they struggled to keep staff. Obviously they don't do food, but the Sirens is our pub now which is surprising in that they could easily make it more "tourist" focused, but it retains that local feel.
