  1. Transfer deadline day tends to skew people's perception of how their club had traded during the window as a whole, so it's worth reminding ourselves that we have continued the evolution of this squad overall. Firstly we have removed a couple of seat blockers from coach one so to speak. Bakinson and Palmer have gone all together and Idehen has been relegated to another coach for now. (hopefully to return as a new man), and everyone's whipping boy of the last couple of seasons O'Dowda has also walked the plank. We added competition in a key areas and a potential leader at the back. Naismith, Wilson and Sykes, and we have added what looks to be quality competition on paper in goal with Bajic. Of those Sykes was probably the one that arrived with the least fanfare, but has been the nicest surprise. Retaining the services of our "stars" is the icing on the cake. Perhaps the most important part of these dealings is getting them done early. We have a squad that is all pulling together and are finding their football fun and enjoyable and have spent months together already, some of the teams in this league will have to be introduced to each other on Saturday. This is also a better environment to add in more of emerging youth talent too, and we have even more optimism on that front. Off the pitch, Nigel seems to have created a coaching set up that suits him especially with the addition of Jason Euell. I have faith, (because I have seen it happen before) that the togetherness of this group is worth more than some individuals borrowed from all and sundry, each with their own agenda. I also believe that the fans can see this, and that the backing from the terraces seems to have gone up a notch too. All in all, I am very happy with this quiet revolution.
  2. I think that pallet and plank were left out by this guy.....

  4. I was about to post the same Tom, they sacked parker because he wanted to buy players, they wanted him to develop what they have. I think this is bullshit.
  5. No he didn't he went backwards or had to go wide to a player that was marked.. It was good defending.
  6. A level many have strived to reach and failed.
  7. This is what gets me, he defended really well in those situations and forced Thomas to go back because he ran out of options. Players like that want defenders to dive in and either leave space behind them or give away a free kick. The best defenders rarely make tackles in those positions.
  8. Him moving has been mooted for two seasons now, there is something about him that puts other teams off paying what Blackburn want for him.
  9. Not sure about that bit Dave, he put his foot through it to the extent he threw himself off his feet.
  10. I have said before that if we look in a strong position (top 7/8?) that Han would sign a contract. I think a couple of others would be looking to extend too. It's worth noting though that we have 4 tough games in September against teams that are likely to be more clinical than our opposition so far. Things could look very different then.
  11. Tracks in no particular order. Tomorrow Never Knows - The Beatles Drugs (unsurprisingly) - Talking Heads You Want it Darker - Leonard Cohen Hunting Bears - Radiohead Journey of the Sorcerer - The Eagles (honestly!) Was used as the theme music to Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy which helps the interpretation.

  13. That's brilliant news, as I have said elsewhere I am a big fan of this kid. I said to @Davefevsthat I think he will be getting first team minutes this season and it's looking good at the moment.
  14. I like the fact that the system with this personnel allows Vyner and particularly Atkinson to go deep into the opposition half, not only to attack but also to defend. I counted 5 times in the first half where Atkinson dispossessed players 5 or 10 metres into their half.
  15. Yes of course that must be it. The question I asked was do we have to accept that we will get the bad with the good, and I think that with a few exceptions the answer on here is yes. I tend to agree because he allows for other players to play better and more importantly the system to work and the ball to be played on the deck. The only caveat is that we need to remember that there are times when Row Z is the best option and in fact there were 2 occasions yesterday when Kal used it. I keep going back to Fleming in pre season telling the players, that it didn't matter what it looked like, if it doesn't go in the net, it's good defending. I am loving the way we are playing and those who have been asking for entertainment must surely be getting their money's worth so far.
  16. Both moving up a level do we think Dave? National League maybe?
  17. Weimann was very deep tonight, especially in the first half, he was playing alongside Scott. I would rather have him back behind the front two, who ever that might be.
  18. That would mean dropping Atkinson who is just playing far too well for that to happen right now.
  19. When he's good he's very good, when he's bad he's Nyatanga! I think he is getting a lot of slack from the fans at the moment, if one of our home grown players or longer serving players had made some of the mistakes he has made over his first few games, they would have multiple threads on here and elsewhere. The good thing is that between those mistakes he shows he is very talented, but he seems to forget that he is the last man in many situations. and he is lucky that more of those errors haven't been punished. He's not a kid though, so it seems unlikely he is going to change, so I guess we are just going to have to live with the bad bits as well as the good ones.
  20. You use them. It's not all about who starts.
  21. Someone who wasn't a striker would have squared that ball, most of the crowd were screaming at him to do so, but he backed himself.

  23. Just imagine Joey B ringing around any old mates he has left in the game... "Yeah I know you haven't played for 2 years, but the chairman hasn't a clue. Name your price and we'll bleed the sucker dry".
