  1. Well it was ******* amazing on many levels. Apart from one or two oblique references we were able to put those allegations to one side for 2 and a bit hours. I sort of understand @Silvio Dantes reservations and if and when these allegations go further then I will consider how I feel about them at that point. I have to say though that while there may be other AF fans who feel the same as him, there were plenty there tonight who seemed in a more forgiving mood. Opening the show with Rebellion (lies) seemed important, what certainly sounded like a heartfelt "thanks for turning up, I can't tell you how much it means especially now" and then what seemed to be a very personal cover of Bittersweet Symphony, it was a show like any other.
  2. Are the WBA players being introduced to eachother?
  3. Well I am here now, it's going to feel weird, but at this point they are just allegations and there have been many unfounded allegations against many of stars over the course of my life most of which disappeared into the ether over the course of time. Win may not have that luxury with the Internet, but as far as I can see there hasn't been any kind of police investigation so far.
  4. He means more than 9, with the rest watching dodgy streams in the car park.
  5. https://eu.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/celebrities/2022/08/28/arcade-fire-win-butler-accused-sexual-assault/7924912001/ His support act, a Canadian singer called Feist has now pulled out of the tour.
  6. My wife and I are off to Birmingham tonight to see Arcade Fire. They are something of a bucket list band for me as I have wanted to see them for years, but they usually play festivals which I don't like at all. My issue is that I don't quite know what to make of the allegations against Win Butler and how that will affect the show. I know that you can find quotes on line of people saying that they aren't going, but I keep thinking that so far he only has been found guilty in the "Twittersphere" where it seems allegations are enough these days. The incidents happened a few years back when he apparently was in a dark place, his wife is supportive and apparently knew most of the alleged incidents, as they have always had an open relationship and everyone was of the age of consent, although younger than him but he says everything was consensual. 4 allegations so far, which again I feel like is about average for what you could find about any male popstar over a 20 year career if you were looking, there must be a few people who have had some sort of fling with a famous person, and then perhaps regretted it, or realised their reason for doing it was influenced by the position of the person. It doesn't take a great leap to get to "he used his influence" for some people. I am wondering why now though? And I am wondering how it's going to feel when he comes out stage, or even "if" they will perform at all. Such a shame, so much great music potentially ruined.
  7. That must be old, when was the last time they beat Pompey at home?
  8. Transfer deadline day tends to skew people's perception of how their club had traded during the window as a whole, so it's worth reminding ourselves that we have continued the evolution of this squad overall. Firstly we have removed a couple of seat blockers from coach one so to speak. Bakinson and Palmer have gone all together and Idehen has been relegated to another coach for now. (hopefully to return as a new man), and everyone's whipping boy of the last couple of seasons O'Dowda has also walked the plank. We added competition in a key areas and a potential leader at the back. Naismith, Wilson and Sykes, and we have added what looks to be quality competition on paper in goal with Bajic. Of those Sykes was probably the one that arrived with the least fanfare, but has been the nicest surprise. Retaining the services of our "stars" is the icing on the cake. Perhaps the most important part of these dealings is getting them done early. We have a squad that is all pulling together and are finding their football fun and enjoyable and have spent months together already, some of the teams in this league will have to be introduced to each other on Saturday. This is also a better environment to add in more of emerging youth talent too, and we have even more optimism on that front. Off the pitch, Nigel seems to have created a coaching set up that suits him especially with the addition of Jason Euell. I have faith, (because I have seen it happen before) that the togetherness of this group is worth more than some individuals borrowed from all and sundry, each with their own agenda. I also believe that the fans can see this, and that the backing from the terraces seems to have gone up a notch too. All in all, I am very happy with this quiet revolution.
  9. I think that pallet and plank were left out by this guy.....

  11. I was about to post the same Tom, they sacked parker because he wanted to buy players, they wanted him to develop what they have. I think this is bullshit.
  12. No he didn't he went backwards or had to go wide to a player that was marked.. It was good defending.
  13. A level many have strived to reach and failed.
  14. This is what gets me, he defended really well in those situations and forced Thomas to go back because he ran out of options. Players like that want defenders to dive in and either leave space behind them or give away a free kick. The best defenders rarely make tackles in those positions.
  15. Him moving has been mooted for two seasons now, there is something about him that puts other teams off paying what Blackburn want for him.
  16. Not sure about that bit Dave, he put his foot through it to the extent he threw himself off his feet.
  17. I have said before that if we look in a strong position (top 7/8?) that Han would sign a contract. I think a couple of others would be looking to extend too. It's worth noting though that we have 4 tough games in September against teams that are likely to be more clinical than our opposition so far. Things could look very different then.
  18. Tracks in no particular order. Tomorrow Never Knows - The Beatles Drugs (unsurprisingly) - Talking Heads You Want it Darker - Leonard Cohen Hunting Bears - Radiohead Journey of the Sorcerer - The Eagles (honestly!) Was used as the theme music to Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy which helps the interpretation.

  20. That's brilliant news, as I have said elsewhere I am a big fan of this kid. I said to @Davefevsthat I think he will be getting first team minutes this season and it's looking good at the moment.
  21. I like the fact that the system with this personnel allows Vyner and particularly Atkinson to go deep into the opposition half, not only to attack but also to defend. I counted 5 times in the first half where Atkinson dispossessed players 5 or 10 metres into their half.
  22. Yes of course that must be it. The question I asked was do we have to accept that we will get the bad with the good, and I think that with a few exceptions the answer on here is yes. I tend to agree because he allows for other players to play better and more importantly the system to work and the ball to be played on the deck. The only caveat is that we need to remember that there are times when Row Z is the best option and in fact there were 2 occasions yesterday when Kal used it. I keep going back to Fleming in pre season telling the players, that it didn't matter what it looked like, if it doesn't go in the net, it's good defending. I am loving the way we are playing and those who have been asking for entertainment must surely be getting their money's worth so far.
