  1. But I think you are missing the point Harry, we didn't immediately drop into a completely defensive mode, we kept them on their toes for a good 10 minutes after the sending off by looking to break on them. It was a gradual move into total defence and I think it demoralised them more than anything. As the game played out they looked, less and less convinced they could get anything out of the game. Fair enough, you would have done things differently, but the professionals got it right
  2. Anyone feel more comfortable with cashing in on Semenyo with the emergence of Tommy Conway, or would it be a lot to ask for Conway to keep this up for a season?

  4. I thought that some of the passing angles out from the back were something I hadn't seen from us for a while, the movement of Scott and Massengo allowed different options, and Conway looks like a Weimann clone with his non stop movement. I am sure Cardiff will do a better job of pressing us, but we showed in that period that we can be fast and accurate when required What was our long ball percentage @Cowshed, I am assuming it was lower without Martin playing?
  5. Apparently they need 3 new midfield players a right back and a centre half. Wow, last seasons heroes have been brought down to earth.
  6. As I said on another thread, they have played a lot at U23 level and it seems that Wells has become something of a mentor to some of the young players.
  7. There could be a protective element but, I could see alternative arguments for every single move, and I thought the coaching team were excellent. First move was a natural one and not really defensive at all. Scott has played the majority of his games with us a right wing back and Wiemann can be equally effective playing from a deeper position and we continued to look dangerous on the break meaning that Luton couldn't immediately go flat out on the attack from the restart. The next move to bring Scott into the middle, well, I think this was a clever timewasting move because they knew they were going to bring him off and he would have further to go from the centre of the pitch. Conway was clearly and understandably blowing, and we needed to get Martin on both to hold the ball up and for his defensive duties. After that I liked the way we gradually became more defensive, just strangling Luton as they became more and more desperate and apart from a wicked deflection they couldn't generate a genuine chance.
  8. 2 - 0 up at half time. Luton come out with three changes and a flea in their ear from Nathan Jones. They were probably also told to remember that we have a reputation for shrinking like a salted snail if put under pressure in the 2nd half. They tried to up their tempo, but we just took complete charge of the game. Great pressing, superb movement and exceptional passing moves, the only thing that didn't quite come were the goals, which I honestly believe we're on their way, until the sending off. But still, they couldn't live with us and I think that's possibly the best we have played under Pearson.
  9. Yes, that was more like it, encouraging when required and appreciative too.
  10. And had Rob Cundy that we let go at the heart of their defence.
  11. I sometimes have mixed feelings about overage players playing in the junior teams for anything other than part of a recovery from injury, but there can be little doubt that the amount of time he and Conway have played together is a key to the way they come in the last couple of games.
  12. I really have high hopes for him, I have said several times that I think he may even feature at some point this season. It will be interesting to see how he gets on against men at Chippenham, shame the game was cut short Saturday.
  13. And would you be still saying that if Somerset were top of their group? Sometimes our feelings about competitions can be tempered by our teams performance in them. Almost everyone had a downer on the League Cup in the seasons leading up to our run to the Semi-final, a season when you could barely find a dissenting voice.
  14. Yes sorry you are right, that diarama makes it look like that is all carpark in the top right, but now I can see that they will just have a straight run through onto Harbour Rd. Thank you.
  15. Caught up with this about 15 minutes in and thought it was quite interesting, I thought there wasn't quite the depth I wanted although, seeing him fighting with himself to get out on stage was quite startling. I thought I learned more about him in Colin Murray's Midnight Meets interview with him, which should still be on BBC Sounds if you are interested.
  16. Closer to the Edge - 30 Seconds to Mars
  17. No that's where the car park is, the roundabout in that plan will be outside the Harbourside Doctors surgery Sorry I see others have answered. The only issue I can see is that it will increase the amount of traffic around the estate with people living in Phoenix way at the station end having to drive down to Newfoundland Rd and come out by the Majestics building.
  18. "League 1 at best", especially after one bad miss or pass. "Has a mistake in him" Only ever used about young players learning the game, like they are somehow supposed to be superhuman and never make mistakes.
  19. Tiny Steps - Elvis Costello and the Attractions
  20. I have seen a few clips of Devante Rodney at Rochdale? A bit of late developer physical means they have moved him from the wing to central striker, he has a huge amount pace but obviously needs to work on stuff like finishing. I'd like to see us take a punt on someone like that.
  21. Shame that Bournemouth won't offer him a wage that will allow him to have his own place
  22. Talking of the old floodlights, I used to like seeing being put on around half time and how they would go from a cream to white colour as they warmed up during the early part of the 2nd half. It was so gradual you wouldn't notice that they were the only light source by the last 15 minutes of the game.
  23. Strange how he wasn't saying it after losing to FGR or Crawley Town in the cup. He is so happy with his squad that he is looking to sign 6 more players. How is Wael of Fortune going to keep this up on gates of less than 8000 when he said they needed 11000 to beak even 2 years ago?
  24. I see he has bought into the "Lansdown is selling the club bollocks" that a few on here have.
