It's obvious that HNM likes where he is, but if he is to stay then he has to see that the club might get him further up the ladder. If we had a storming start to the season and we're top 6 by the WC break, or around Jan 23, maybe that would be something that would give him a further reason to stay. For the couple of nah sayers on this thread moaning about the lack of goals and assists, it's worth noting that he is still in the same age group as Conway, Bell etc, all of whom are looking to make an impact in the next three years. Only Scott, whom I think we are all agreed is an exception to the rule has provided more going forward than he has.

I remember Stoney coming in the Casino I was working in with Stan Boardman. Boardman was trying to crack a few jokes obviously but everything he said Stoney would top it, until he just gave up.

There is a potential new name in the mix as well with Raf Araoye apparently pushing himself forward very quickly. We have only seen him play LCB so far but he looked quite two footed from what I have seen so far. He looks an athlete in the Lloyd Kelly style.

ANd incredibly dark in parts, most unexpected.

It might be me, but I think there is even more interest this year, maybe because so many of these players seem to be in the picture and genuinely could be involved with our first team squad in the next couple of years. I have always liked the idea of the bands because it has the potential to showcase local talent, but like a lot of things you feel more could be done, like a little more information about the bands that play. That could be down to the bands themselves though, a bit of self publicity (flyers or information board by the stage). I understand what some are saying about the quality, but presumably we will always have bands that are at different stages of their careers so it will always vary. Regarding the quality, as I'm passing the stage there is occasionally something that makes me stop to listen. It's s rarely about the obvious, singers or lead guitar, but the drummer. If the drummer is reasonably competent, it brings the quality of the whole sound up a notch in my opinion.

The title of the Bristol Live article say's he is setting the record straight, but he has proved nothing yet. He says he was fit, but we didn't think so, he is having a bit of success in a what is basically a part-time league, let's see if that gets him a proper job somewhere.

Not what happened though. I remember being in the room when Les Beardsley told my dad that.. Francis came and trained, played as a trialist for two weeks and did well. Dick's wanted to sign him, but Francis claimed he was home sick for Plymouth and "went home". Three weeks later he signed for Birmingham City, so unless he overcame his homesickness very quickly, it seems he was "tapped up" by someone from Brum and made his excuses to get out of signing for us.

Is it more about how having the right attitude is rewarded? The youngsters coming through will see how Conways hard work and dedication is rewarded compared to Bakinsons apparent issues with buckling down.
