  1. Been really impressed with Tanner recently. He’s got a bit of Naismith about him to me and probably slightly better defensively. Both technical defenders who both want to set the tempo and look to play aggressively and on the front foot. There was one really well weighted pass through to Weimann I think, where it had a bit of backspin or something on it which allowed it to stop just short of the byeline so it could be collected by the attacker and fizzed across. I couldn’t think of any other defender bar Naismith who has that nouse and technical ability.
  2. Not sure if I agree that Pearson’s signings have all been failures. Wasn’t it said in the other thread he has only made 8 signings? Atkinson, James, Naismith, Tanner are regulars in the side now. Sykes has played a fair bit this season and was only brought in as cover initially one would imagine. Wilson is a very astute signing on paper but has been unlucky with fitness. Simpson and King granted not the best, although King I would argue is only here for cover and experience and has provided that, but I would say that is a pretty good hit rate compared to what we have seen in previous management during our time in the Championship.
  3. Yep, Tommy and Semenyo looked like two individuals up front, I think either next to Nakhi is better. I’m leaning towards Semenyo as he has that natural physicality that causes problems even if he is not playing well.
  4. No coincidence that our best attacking play tonight was in the second half when Nakhi came on. Conway and Semenyo were either wanting to attack the same areas or were million of miles apart from each other, with little to no link up at all. Neither of them were really able to be a focal point for the other to launch attacks off. Made for quite a painful and disjointed first half attacking wise. As soon as Nakhi was on he started to link the play beautiful. First attacker on the team sheet for me, with his strike partners to be rotated rather than him.
  5. If we play with the team that finished for the rest of the season, we will be looking up the table rather than down.
  6. This is why we need to play Antoine. Playing badly but look how much more we create.
  7. Weimann was free on the penalty spot for the pull back
  8. Conway off for Wells please, Semenyo has nobody to play off atm
  9. True but I’d much rather see him trying things and it not come off than hide. I don’t see any lack of effort from him, just some poor touches which is expected as he has not been a starter for a while. Needs a run of games to play himself into form imo. Conway has been a starter every week but has been below par in the last 2 and a half games now.
  10. Not sure why everyone is slating Semenyo, out of form and some bad touches but is finding some space and getting involved. Conway is neither playing well or getting involved. Get Wells on alongside Semenyo to link up the play IMO.
  11. Very happy with that team. I think most of our team won’t venture forward. But there is lots of pace and energy to hit them on the break and stretch their defence with that front three.
  12. Semenyo has to be given a run of starts, to give him a chance to find his form again. He is the one capable of stretching opposition defences and getting us up the pitch, especially in those matches where we are not favourites, which are most at the moment.
  13. Agree with those wanting to start Semenyo, he has struggled off the bench as we have usually been losing by that time and he has no space to run into, which is most of his game! Playing away against sides where we are likely to sit back, he should be one of the first on the team sheet, as he is the one attacker we have who can stretch the play. Conway and Wells for what they bring, are different types of player.

    Who?

A better manager would have made them with the money that was available then, even Pearson would have IMO!
  15. Anyone else remember the SC who preferred to leave empty spaces on the bench, rather than include academy players? Clearly sending a message of his anger of lack of signings. I loved SC in that L1 winning season. But nobody can say he really would fit the bill for the club’s strategy or the point at which we find ourselves now.

    Who?

Scrumpy is out of a job and probably within our budget. In all seriousness, 3 pages and still nobody has put forward a credible name…
  17. The same guy who wanted to sign Andre Gray at £9mill in 2015? Great during that L1 season, although we did have the best team in the league. Not a manager who was going to tear up trees in the Championship and was quite negative in terms of youth development, so didn’t fit the culture at all once we got there.
  18. After the appointment of Holden, I know we would bring in an even worse appointment. So it’s a keep for me.
  19. Nope, that’s the reality of where we are as a club.
  20. Yeah, exactly like Stoke, which we should have won. And Rotherham, which we did.
  21. West Brom have far too much quality on the pitch to be where they are. Expect them to make playoffs with this new manager. Real acid test will be beating those teams around and below us really.
  22. We could really do with Weimann down the middle
