My point was though, he wasn’t really in line for this move last summer but was clearly fancied by Brighton, so surely a bit of a contractual blunder to have not put him on a contract more worthy of his status.

Semenyo: In 3 years time....
marcofisher replied to The Humble Realist's topic in All Things Ex Players and Managers
It really has me thinking recently about how much attention should be paid to loan performances. Especially when a lot of our better academy graduates who eventually went for big money performed decently on loan but never turnt up trees. I saw a Sunderland fan comment on a Semenyo to B’mouth Twitter rumour “is that the kid who couldn’t hit a barn door for us?”. -
Because if he is on a contract insanely far under his value, that of a decent Championship player when he is clearly far superior than that, makes it all the more difficult in situations like this. You’re asking someone to stay professional when his salary is going to be increased by at least 10x if he is on £10k, and god knows how many times if he is on that rumoured £3.5k. We can all comment on his unprofessional behaviour, but 90% would do the same in his position.

Even then, egg on Brighton’s face as that is very low for a well performing PL player nowadays.

The lad is 21 and signed directly from an Ecuadorean team aged 19, I would imagine he would be on about that!

I see Semenyo being at a similar level to where Bryan and Reid are now. -
Yeah and Semenyo still not a striker that score goals
-
Pretty low risk to offer a 2+1 now if you ask me.

Am I right in thinking Taylor Moore is still on the books?

You'd imagine Bell would be given a chance to start in the front three after his previous two appearances.

I think Bentley was an exceptional shot stopper, one of the best we've had. I do think we played worse as a team with him in goal though due to the fact he was not great at playing out from the back. So I will miss the exceptional saves, but I don't think Max is that much of a downgrade in that regard, and I think we play better overall with him in the team. Right move all round IMO.

A potential shout if anyone is looking for an outside bet: Holger Rune

You look at Draper as well, 21 and falling apart physically in the 3rd set against Nadal in the first round.

He is about to hit 10 hours over 2 matches in 3 days! The man is 35 and has a metal hip!! Undoubtably one of Britain’s greatest ever athletes and competitors

We can't be taken for mugs here. He is the one attacker in our squad who can commit multiple defenders and create that something out of nothing against strong defences. Our return to form has coincided with his return to form, I think his departure from the starting 11 would weaken us the most.

Yes a fantastic goal, but I wouldn't say something from nothing, there was space to attack on the break, so more of a counter attacking goal, which could suit Bell very well late in games. I meant a bit more with flair, creativity and physicality with ball at the feet where there is not that space there, rather than using pace on the break. Such as both Semenyo's and Prings assists for Sykes on Saturday.

While I agree with the premise, we already have a natural goalscorer in Wells, and Antoine is the one player in our squad who can create something from nothing, which I don't think our other attacking players can really do.
