Eek to both of your posts. I am hoping that Wells after this season, his age and seeing that he actually works quite well in the system that he has eventually broken into, stays on a reduced deal. One that would bring him in line with everyone else. Mind you I could also see him going MLS. The other three I can’t wait to see the back of. It’s very telling when Kalas is not featuring and Vyner is our stand out, and ditto with Dasilva and Pring. Two academy players, fraction of the price!

NP OUTer, who realistically would you bring in who fits the remit of cutting wage bill and bringing through the academy players? I am curious as I’m seeing a lot of debate but not really seen any credible names

Do you know how much of the wage bill is taken up by Kalas and Dasilva, Dave? I imagine they will be first out the door as I imagine it’s incredibly significant.

It’s very relative. He was reportedly brought in on about £7.2 million from what I was seeing. Which is truly woeful business when you break it down. 100 appearances, 0 goals, minute number of goal involvements, very little defensive impetus outside of his pressing. Couldn’t assert a regular starting berth over players we signed for a fraction of the amount, brought in on frees, or that came up through the academy. I’m not saying HNM is one of the worst players we have ever had, I would have very much liked him to have signed a new contract and continued his development with us, but I’m saying he is one of the worst transfers considering the price we paid and what we now stand to lose. There is a difference.

Right, so who would you bring in?

The lad was signed for multiple millions of pounds and never really justified the outlay on him and was completely mismanaged. Will defo go into the poor signings column of this current city era

I find this very hard to believe and would wonder why this has never been heard up to now?

One of the worst signings in City history for me. Seemed lightweight and ineffective when he first came in, not ready for a number of years because of that. By the time he is able to put a few decent performances is, he is into the last two years of his contract and then enters a contract stalemate. And then is shown to be completely inferior to another even younger midfielder who comes through our academy. Complete exemplification of the MA/LJ disaster era of signings, big exciting signings which very much resulted in wasted wages and will end up leaving for peanuts if not free after insignificant contribution.

Players have to be given a chance to step up, just like Scott and Conway have done when given a chance. Seen so many ridiculous posts accusing NP of throwing him under the bus when in reality he has been given the chance to show what he is about in a fairly insignificant cup.

I don’t really see many who would have done better with the constraints. Cut the wage bill massively, 5-6 academy players featuring per Championship match. Does another manager do that? Who comes in and does even better under those constraints? Pearson needs the full three years to overhaul IMO. We still have players like Kalas on around 25k per week and then current starters like Vyner on probably about 3k?!

The club/nige clearly don’t care about this cup with this lineup. I can’t understand why anyone would be with our injuries in the squad. More than happy to be out and just focussing on keeping players fit for the league. We have enough games as it is.

Would Tanner not still be banned?

In all serious, it would be great to have Plymouth in the Championship. I know it’s still not exactly local. But it’s a shame we have nothing really in the South West.

I’m always sceptical of this, I can’t believe it would actually net us anywhere near enough to afford a decent loan player any more?

Quite right, I don't see how everyone expects "progress" when our wage bill is only allowed to regress. It's completely unrealistic or at least not very probable!

Middlesborough have only beaten a Hull team have been really poor after a few good games at the start of the season. I'm not sure how the whole of OTIB sees that as them "picking up form". We have a really good chance of settling the ship on Saturday.

Barely any teams outside the top 6 PL go entire games without making a single mistake. The reality is, the one mistake that we made which was punished, wasn't really even a mistake as by the laws of the game the goal should never had stood.

Does Tanner get a three game ban or one?

You need wing backs to drive at defences and push the opposition back, creating spaces for others. JD is more of a full back in a possession based system than a wing back.

I hoping that when Atkinson is fit, we will be able to push Pring to wing back. I think he has a much better ability to drive at opposition defences and get to the byeline than JD, and will be able to produce a far better end product by fizzing balls across the box. The generic loopy balls by JD are just too easy to defend.

We’ve had two good performances against playoff teams. We will pick up points against the lower teams now that the table is starting to resemble what people expect.

Neither did ours though? Except pick the ball out of the net from an offside goal.
