One big problem I have with Manning is the impression that he does what he does for Manning. If he was successful here he’d be off at the drop of a hat for a bigger gig.
Pearson had nothing to prove and did what he believed best for the greater good of everyone. A leader of men.
How can a bloke who’s achieved the total sum of bugger all in his career really tell , for example, Premier League winners James and King how to play football ?
Or give enough confidence to the youngsters that they will succeed with his coaching ?

Massive cock up from our owner. Bullet meet foot.

    Excellent post dear boy 👏

Leicester to one side the run in will likely save him as well as the return of Jamo, our midfields been adrift without him and we’ll likely end up around the 60pt mark.

I would be amazed to see us even close to 60 points....

Judging by our current form the only game I'd say to be  a very likely win is Rotherham.

Our plan is better than any of the plans LM has come up with!

I do often wonder what the players say between themselves in their WhatsApp groups etc.

Similar to us in many ways - along the lines of "what the ****'s going on here"....

There are a good few strong characters among the playing staff & it will be Impossible even for the dynamic duo to miss the vibe.

I have a picture in my head of Tinnion being very visible in every area of the HPC, lurking to assert authority.frankie_howerd.jpg.0f6bb3cce8457eacb0401750f48ede1f.jpg

The fact Steve Lansdown is back attending games says all we need to know. Said earlier in the week, him turning up at Swansea and Tinnion magically appearing on sound of the city the day after, scrambling and rattling through answers, have got to be linked.

He didn’t choose to attend Cardiff away, went to the rugby instead, yet Pearson was sacked the day after. His reemergence stinks of “I don’t trust this lot, I need to involved again” which is probably pissing him off no end.

He pulled no punches when talking about our football under Holden, he’s probably aghast at what he’s watched over the last week.

Manning plus probably Tinnion are under a lot of pressure imo.

I think Manning is virtually cooked & ready to be taken out of the oven.

If Tinnion doesn't join him then the whole thing is pointless.

What then do we do with Jon??!

This has the script makings of a rather good footballing sit-com ...

I'm cheering myself up by casting the above in my head 😆

Bet Lansdown has one ****** of a headache right now.

Having suffered years of failing to understand lots of what LJ said I’m now trying to come to terms with Manning speak.

Here’s my best effort at an interpretation / translation of recent LM comments.

LM I’m not on social media, so I genuinely don’t hear it but I’m not stupid, I get the industry, I signed up for it, right?” Manning said. “Unfortunately with football it’s changed where three/four games and it’s where the world is at, short-term and everything straight away.”

= Football is a results based business. Our poor recent results, understandably, are a cause for concern to everybody. I have now presided over 26 games as Head Coach of Bristol City and everybody including the fans rightly expect that our results and performances should have been better and there should be more evidence of progress.

LM "For me, of course I want to win. It hurts me. I don’t want to go home having losses but I don’t see the point of wasting energy getting down about it. I’ve had to scrap, I’ve had to fight, I’ve had to graft to get where I’m at and they’re the behaviours: treat people properly, that doesn’t change, come in, drive a standard every day, deliver the work we deliver.”

= Umm….I don’t like losing and whatever happens I will keep doing the same things, I believe it’s important to treat people properly. Genuinely hard to know what ‘they’re the behaviours’ ‘drive a standard every day’ and ‘deliver the work we deliver’ actually mean.

LM “I’m fortunate in that I’ve got a lot of good people around me, the staff have been great: Hoggy’s been terrific, Krausey, Brian, Pat, Ciss (Khalifa Cisse) - there are loads of good people who see the good work that’s happening every day and that’s the only way that you change it.”

= I work with good staff, things change when you constantly and consistently do good work.

LM “Am I emotionally fully all in? You only have to ask the people around here with the way we work and the hours we put in. My energy has to go into the players, they’re the most important people.”

= I can’t answer that question, please ask others. If it’s about hard work and long hours then we are OK.

    Deliver the work we deliver-

    It's not even English ffs....

    Just drop bullshit Liam.

So far we have been told we should copy Brighton, then Brentford, then Luton and now Ipswich. At this rate we will eventually get through the remaining clubs in the pyramid in 88 years.

Actually 87, we can't compare with Coventry because the sold players for big money.

Well done Sir for keeping up!!

That's fair enough but if we make a step improvement next season will you give him credit for his role in appointing Manning? People are judging far too early.

I will . But absolute minimum next season is we have to be in contention for bottom 6 at this point of the season

Sure it’s been said before but TInnion on the renewal marketing is bizarre and undoubtedly clear disrespect to us fans. Time will tell how much we will stomach - my feeling is that sales will be very slow as we may have gone over a tipping point of contempt towards us. Maybe it has been this bad before but it doesn’t feel like that right now. I feel disgust at the club- ashamed to be a city fan. So many lies, so much disrespect. Such a glaring lack of ambition. It’s only going one way next season.

They can poke their season ticket..

the facts don't match up with the bungled explanations

That may well be the case - never thought of Manning as a snappy dresser though!

Could this be the new caption competition??

The Adam Murphy thread brings into focus once more just how bad our communication is. But it doesn’t need to be like this, and telling the truth doesn’t make you look stupid. Just off the top of my head, how much better would it have been if communication was the following:

    Murphy

    Instead of:

”He’s doing a long pre season”

    Say: (my assumed position here)

When he performed his medical it was a deal we still wanted to do but there were some concerns - although not ones we expect to be long term - if the players right you take the gamble like Bournemouth did with Scotty. We’re just making sure everything is fully right medically and well then target for him to be fully in the swing of things for next season”

    Medube

    Instead of:

”He didn’t play due to work permit issues”  (now known to be a lie)

    Say:

”For whatever reason it didn’t work out for him in Belgium. However it’s only six months ago that he was a great prospect in Man City’s academy so we’re loaning him to see where he is, and to see if it’s a deal we want to do longer term”

    Targets

    Instead of:

”We hope to be ten points better off”

    Say:

”We want to be around the playoffs. It looks unlikely to happen this season, but it’s not far away in real terms so we expect that although it’s difficult to be top two due to parachute clubs we want to be right in the mix below that next season”

    Performance

    Instead of:

”Everyone was happy three weeks ago”  and “We played well in 19 of 20 games”

    Say:

”The Southampton performance was the level we want to be at, and we probably haven’t been at that enough. The challenge is we need to get there every week and although I think in most games there have been signs, they haven’t hit that consistent level for 90 minutes often enough. And that’s the challenge for the staff and for the players, and it’s one we’ll meet”

Obviously this doesn’t have to be exact, but how much better would everyone be feeling with a bit of truth, professional communication and acknowledgment everything isn’t awesome? It’s not even that it’s a difficult thing to do or makes them look worse!

Your asking for people to change their nature,,quite a big ask ...
