He was easy and cheap option, and a huge gamble, showed lack of ambition by the board, we've been treading water, going nowhere for years!
Hang on, he was contracted to Oxford so we would have had to pay compensation to them and improve the wages that Manning and his staff were on so not like employing an out of work guy.
Easy? Easier than trying to persuade someone with an established record of success to come here I am certain.

Those of us blinded by the success of the club sense what is going to happen.
The owners will stand by Manning , spending money on the players he wants in the summer.
He will have a full preseason to work with them followed by more of the same old shite that we get served up season after season and we will change coach before Christmas probably bringing in Naismith as the new head coach. Rinse and repeat.

We haven’t and we could still win it if he changes something at half time. The fact is however is we’ve played 135 minutes of utter shite against two of the worst sides in the division. It’s not good enough. Like I say, unless it does change, we are heading for 9 points in our latest block of ten games. That cannot be excused or defended.
Ah but we’ve had time on the grass .

I believe that we have had so much success in this trophy due in many respects to the lack in depth of strong clubs in the southern half of the draw.

It’s at times like these we realise that footballers are human and not machines.

No mention of Naismith after his “stiffness” last week…. We all know where this is heading.
What some of us would give for a bit of stiffness .

I am not fully convinced by Manning but he must be given a summer of bringing in some of his own players and a full preseason to prepare them. I hope we get off to a flyer and by December we’re talking about promotion.

He’s now a plumber, chatted to him a few times, really nice guy.
Blige , a plumber ? With his knees? The only profession worse than that for knees would be a carpet fitter.

I think it’s as simple as they’d been getting a bit (not much) stick for an unexciting window. Brian made some relatively ill judged interactions (there’s a shock) in responding to people where there was no need. They then also fed to club puppet and all round tosser Ian Gay that there were exciting signings coming who came all over Twitter with that news.
That exciting signing was a player deemed not good enough at an inferior level (note - he may be good enough eventually, but positioning him as he was didn’t play with the narrative). So they made shit up in order to make the signing more exciting.
Because they’re morons.
Perhaps Manning is doing someone a favour with this signing ( his old contacts) . I can imagine ‘ Hi Liam, we’ve got this kid whose career has stalled in Belgium but who seemed promising at Man City U21’s. Could you take him on and see if you can get a tune out of him ? . ‘

If he’d have brought Sykes on and he got injured we’d be moaning about poor man management. Likewise with Twine possibly getting him back in around the squad and match day was important considering he’s still new to the club.
The reaction to a defeat is embarrassing after a really positive week.
Would have bit your hand off for 6 points from the last 3 games.
It’s the fact that , once again, just when we dare to dream the club kick us in the nuts again. Bristol City have been doing this since forever with one or two exceptional seasons.
Apart from the magnificent Cott’s team where we blew everyone away even when we’re successful we blow it . Selling Goater and going up in second in stead of Champions , Play off failures , we even managed to be second in the league and runners up in the FA cup .
It is just depressingly familiar territory.- 2

Frustrating as it was mate a lot of them are knackered.
Hang on , before the match people were saying what an excellent bench we had. Praising Manning for his intelligent player rotations. So which is it?

Just belting the ball at each other, no calm, no creativity, it's mindnumbing to watch

Ah City. Not able to watch today. You're not going to win every game in the championship- but couldn't we at least have a few shots at home? It's the same every time in these sorts of games. So predictable.
It’s as though when there’s a danger of something special happening someone says ease off lads.
