  1. It’s totally different though isn’t it. Rovers are signing one of the league ones best players for £800k, we’d have to spend £15 million to sign one of the championships best players, especially a forward
  2. A fake account pretending to be a journalist who covers them
  3. Apparently £370000 in 1991 is the equivalent to £1,013,800 today. So if you do sign him for £800k saggies, then sadly cos it’s taken you so bloody long to break your transfer record, the rise in value of the pound has stopped you from doing so this time as well…
  4. We’re not talking about our current issues here though, this is a thread dedicated to them. It is exactly like us going and spending £25 million in surplus while blowing our wages budget, whilst signing Akpom for £12 mill. It wouldn’t be financially viable for us at all, much like how it isn’t for them. JCH is 29 and has one season where he has hit double figures in the championship, Wells has 6. Maybe he would have outscored Wells, but there’s absolutely no evidence to back that claim up
  5. Yep, their wage bill will have skyrocketed out of all proportion. Unless they go up (which is a huge if), they are going to be in a serious pickle next summer. 7.5k crowds don’t financially support wage bill increases of £30k or so in league one
  6. There’s ambition and there’s throwing money at an off chance of getting promotion. It’s the equivalent to us spending £25 mill this summer and breaking our wage budget completely. It may be fun in the short term, but unless the rewards come then it could go badly badly wrong. Id much rather be on our side of the fence than theirs
  7. What by doubling our transfer record on a 29 year old striker? They’re spending money, granted. But firstly, that’s relative to the league they are in. The ‘ambition’ you are talking about is them being rumoured to spend around £1.1 million this window, as well as signing 5 players on loan and 6 players on a free, who have an average age of 29. There is a level of ambition to it, but if they don’t go up it could go seriously wrong. Of the players they’ve signed, a maximum of 4 have any resale value, that’s 8 transfers made with no resale value. If they don’t get in the play offs they’re going to be having a big clear out next year to avoid financial penalties. Of course, we’d like to have more players through the door this summer. But we’ve already been in their boat of signing older players with no sell on value, who constantly failed to live up to expectation. How did that go for us?
  8. Very easy to show ambition in league one. Look at our window in summer 2014, that blows anything they’ve done this year out of the water and that was 9 years ago…
  9. “The clue is ON THE PITCH. Regardless of if they're permanent signings or loan signings. They're still part of the squad playing ON THE PITCH. Ryan Woods may have only played the equivalent of 16 Championship games, it's still pretty much the same amount as Andy King played for City last season. Woods was pretty much an ever present for Hull until Rosenior took over who didn't fancy him for whatever reason, same with Harvey Vale. Looking at Defenders don't think there's much difference between Connor Taylor or James Wilson to Robert Atkinson who City signed from Oxford either who played 26 games for them last season. Point still stands they're not miles ahead of us on the pitch if you look at the 2 respective squads currently. They are in terms of stadium and infrastructure, academy etc though. However that wasn't my point.” They really don’t help themselves do they…
  10. Yes Paul, that's right. The reason you have won 2 games at home this year is because the pressure of playing in front of a huge crowd of 7500 is too much for your players...
  11. Another signing for them, Ryan Woods from Hull. Good player for league one, but that's a 12th signing this summer. If they don't go up they could be in serious issues surely?
  12. So they've started building a stand. Just imagine if they were building a stand without any planning permission to do so, just imagine...
  13. To be fair, Lambert is a pretty perfect example of somebody connected with Bristol Rovers...
  14. On the 90s? Why aren't you educating us on league Bristol derbies that have happened in the past 20 years? Oh wait...
  15. Whereas the Mem looks like a dump from every angle
  16. A little bit like why would we care that Charlton are a bigger club than Milwall?
  17. Fall flat on our face in finishing in a league position you've never achieved in your history. Struggling to see the amusement in that for you... I mean, if you're happy being crap that's fine. I think we both know your aim as a club is to finish above us in the league, that's all you wish for now, which speaks volumes. Ours is to get into the premier league, you needn't bother about not wanting to reach it as you'll never get there, not with 7k crowds and 3 sides to your stadium. Pipe down and get back to salivating about beating Charlton to rise to a massive 4 places below cambridge. You can even do it in a mug celebrating the win!
  18. It should terrify them. They have an aging fanbase, with a small proportion of u18s through it. For every child attending a rovers match, 3 are attending a City match. That number will only increase exponentially if we do go up in the next few years. Us being promoted would be absolutely devastating for them as a football club. Before long they'd be down to 5k a week, especially with how little growth they've shown this century
  19. So you'd rather aim to be small time and bounce between league one, two and non-league than show any ambition and get within a game of being in the Premier League. If you find us reaching the championship play off final at Wembley a source of content amusement, how do you think we view you lot getting relegated to non league against a team playing in your kit, having celebrated survival the week before? Theres total levels to this
  20. As you were so concerned about 'tinpot' moments from the last century earlier on in the thread, intrigued by your views on these, all of which happened in the last decade? I could go on, but I'm sure thatll give you enough to comment on for now...
  21. To be fair, Scott is in a different league to semenyo right now
  22. I'd say 1200ish. Made a good noise for around 50 minutes as well to be fair to them
  23. 123 Rovers fans there tonight. Fair play to all who made the trip, but that's appalling let's be honest...
  24. Hugeeeee penalty!!! England were poor throughout but into the quarters, great stuff!!!
