  1. That would be a decent turnout for a midweek game, but it certainly didn’t look that many to me. Like others have said, it looked like about half that.

    Klose

Klose was excellent. Still susceptible to balls played over the top, overall I thought we were much more solid tonight. It looked like we had a proper defence.
  4. Much better performance tonight and we deserve the much needed win. It was clear from the outset that the players were trying to pass more quickly. We struggled to create much in the first half, but in the scone half we had more chances. Klose, Semenyo and Scott were our best performers. O’Leary looked assured too. It was disappointing to concede from another set piece, but their delivery from the free kick looked very good. And who’d have thought that our goals would come from crosses.
  5. Both sides playing some nice stuff, but no cutting edge. Our final ball is still very poor.
  6. In the absence of Naismith I’d like to see Klose start. We need to shore up our defence.
  7. We really need to play better than we have been if we are to get anything out of this game against what will presumably be a well-organised Preston side. If we can get an early goal that will surely help to breed confidence.
  8. I watched it in the White Hart in Brislington (sadly now derelict). It was a tense game and a gutsy performance from England. I hazily remember Ian Wright having a chance to win the game at one point.

  11. Sounds like an utterly depressing performance, the likes of which I was hoping we’d seen the back of after our positive end to last season. We have looked really low on quality in the last couple of games.

  13. Yep, Gavin was superb in that season. He waltzed past defenders at will.

  15. For me, Jacki was the most skilful, being an international player, although he was in decline when he played for us. I don’t have many clear specific memories of him, but I do remember the excitement of watching him play - even just little things like his control of the ball. Out of that list, JET was the most consistent performer for us and a joy to watch. Tomlin was amazing on loan and that goal v Huddersfield will live long in the memory. It’s a shame things turned sour. I was underwhelmed by Trundle. There were some moments of magic, but overall he seemed to struggle - whether it was the step up to the Championship or the way GJ utilised him I don’t know, but we didn’t see the best of him.
  16. Yep, that really annoyed me too. No urgency whatsoever. Drab game tonight against a very unambitious Coventry side. Our final ball was appalling. I thought Vyner and HNM played well. King was excellent. And at least our run of defats is at an end.
  17. We are lacking in quality, especially our final ball, and our crossing is abysmal. Semenyo has turned them a couple of times, we need to get him on the ball in and around their penalty area.
  18. I haven’t been convinced by King, but presumably Williams isn’t fit enough so I suppose we don’t have much choice. Glad to see Semenyo starting. Fingers crossed for 3 points. COYR.
  19. From my seat in S20 there was absolutely no doubt it was handball, and very deliberate from their keeper. The linesman (who was awful) presumably couldn’t see it because the goalie’s body was in the way, but the ref should have be better sighted.
