  1. Poor Napoleon - Elvis Costello
  2. I remember the crowds of people standing outside TV shops on Saturdays at 4.45 watching the football scores.
  3. Great play by Messi to set up the third goal.
  4. I’d be happy with the hand dryers in the toilets being warm. In all seriousness, though, I’m glad the club are doing something to help those in need.
  5. It is, though, isn’t it? It’s set at Christmas.
  6. Pearly Gates - Prefab Sprout
  7. Song: 2000 Miles by The Pretenders (and The St Stephen’s Day Murders by the Chieftains and Elvis Costello is also superb) Film: Die Hard
  8. I reckon ROW would win. Much more firepower.
  9. Gutted. I thought we played well and were the better side. A much better performance than the defeat by Italy. The players should be proud of their performance. But fine margins went against us. A great strike for their first goal after Saka was fouled, and we switched off for their second. It still feels like winning something is beyond us.
  10. Very happy with the win today. I feared we’d sluggish after the break and struggle to get a result, but that’s three extremely welcome points.
  11. I was at that game too! I quite liked their ground back then.
  12. God’s Away On Business - Tom Waits
  13. Makin’ Whoopee - Frank Sinatra
  14. Really enjoyed that. But they look so young it’s frightening.
  15. Black Hole Sun - Soundgarden
  16. If I Had A Hammer - Peter, Paul and Mary

    FA Cup 22-23

Yep, he definitely was. I remember thinking his programme notes were quite patronising about how the game was a potential banana skin for Sheff Wed because City might raise their game against the big boys.
  18. Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
  19. Can You Dig It? - The Mock Turtles
  20. Disappointing from England tonight. Very flat and lacklustre, and no intensity. I wanted Southgate to make changes earlier to get a grip on the game. But we are still in control of our group and on course to progress to the knockout stage, so in terms of the tournament so far so good.
  21. My dad listened toit on the radio, but he switched it off in anger when they went 4-2 up. He didn’t know the result until I got home from the game later that evening and phoned him.
