  1. I’d love it if we beat them today after so many poor results in recent seasons. It’s another big test for us. They’ll be coming for the win and I reckon they’ll try to start strongly to get an early goal so they can then see the game out Warnock style. We’ll need to be at our best.
  2. Another excellent 3 points on the road. Now it’s time to end the Cardiff jinx that’s plagued us in recent seasons.
  3. I haven't been to Craven Cottage for ages - late 1990s on a freezing cold day when the away end was that big open terrace. We lost 1-0 that day I think. We've got a good record there in recent seasons but it'll be another tough one today - aren't they all? My prediction is a draw, which would be a good point before we hopefully smash Cardiff at the weekend.
  4. Excellent win. A very welcome 3 points following the Burton and Leeds results. Time for a celebratory beer.
  5. It would be great to come away with a win after bad results in the last two home games and Sunderland seem to be in a bit of a mess, but this one is hard to predict. Ever the optimist, my gut feeling is that we’ll lose. Hope I’m wrong.
  6. God, that was frustrating. Boring boring Burton got exactly what they came for...and we weren't good enough in the final third to break them down (although we seemed unlucky with the disallowed goal). It was just one of those games and we looked less likely to score as time went on. The attendance was good considering the tiny away following and the crowd were supportive of the team throughout.
  7. We started brightly but faded as the first half wore on. We are offering little in the final third - passing wayward and not enough control of the ball. Not enough threat out wide either. Burton too comfortable.
  8. I'm feeling strangely upbeat about this game. We have to get something at Portman Road at some point, so why not today? My main concern is that LJ has sometimes struggled against wily, experienced managers like McCarthy. Let's see what happens. COYR
  9. Glad to get another three points. We were quite laboured in our play at times, especially until the first goal. It seems like we struggle when teams come to AG to sit back and pack the defence. I thought O'Dowda was lively and was the pick of our attacking players. Eliasson looked tricky when he came on. Bolton looked very poor and dead certs for relegation. Fair play to their fans who made the trip (true supporters) but apart from Burton it's the smallest travelling support for a league match I've seen in quite a while. They very much seem to be a club in decline.
  10. Bolton have struggled big time this season so it really is a game we should win....but it would be dangerous to assume we'll get three points just by turning up. They will be desperate for some points and will try to be hard to beat. I envisage a tight, scrappy game like Millwall last month or Burton at home last season (although at least if we get a penalty Tomlin won't be taking it).
  11. Very happy with an away point today. We seem to be much more resilient so far this season.
  12. Our recent form is giving me cause for optimism, which in turn worries me because every time I feel optimistic about a game we lose. I reckon a draw. Safe journey to all those travelling. COYR
  13. Another fascinating post havanatopia - I always look forward to reading the matchday thread. Yet another tough game today, which is one of the great things about being in the Championship. It would be good to get a win today to eat into our poor record against Derby but I reckon a draw is more likely. I still have vivid memories of the 4-3 win at their place in a televised game about 25 years ago. We were getting battered until their keeper was sent off and their influential midfielder had to go in goal, which changed the game. Highlights are on YouTube I think.
  14. Sounds like it was a fantastic game. 4 points from two tricky away games is a good return.
  15. It would be great to break the Molineux jinx but I can't see us winning. A draw would be a good result.
  16. Our recent record against Reading is so poor - we are due a win against them. Then again I think that every time we play Wolves away and nothing changes. I'd take a point from today's game.
  17. What an inept performance against a limited Millwall side. We seemed to want to play the game at walking pace with no urgency and countless sideways passes. Dull. Very difficult to find any positives other than we kept a clean sheet.
  18. I'm quite optimistic about today's game, so that probably means it will be a crap performance and a defeat.
  19. Another good read, so thanks as ever for kicking off the match day thread havanatopia. I'd echo the point about our kit and plea to the powers that be to ditch those red shorts and return to our traditional red/white/red. As for today's game, hopefully we'll see a good performance and a win so the extra fans will want to come back regularly. COYR
  20. Excellent second half. Credit to LJ and the team for turning it around. At about 2pm there were 5-6 Barnsley fans walking down North St chanting obnoxiously and unnecessarily about Bristol being a s***hole (oh the irony), trying to intimidate families going about their business. Big men. Glad their journey home will feel longer after a defeat.
