  1. We got exactly what we deserved in the first half. Let's see how LJ and the team respond.
  2. We have been very poor so far. We'll lose this game if we don't improve.
  3. That was a very nervous afternoon checking the score on my phone, especially once they'd equalised. Happy with a draw - I definitely would have taken that this morning. Still four points clear of Blackburn and another point gained on Brum and Forest. Hope the City fans who trekked north have a good journey home.
  4. A draw today would be a decent result. We are due a draw away. I really hope the players show up for this one and we don't see a repeat of the Brentford and Preston performances.
  5. That was another very welcome 3 points and a hard fought win. I thought we were the better side overall. COYR
  6. I hope there's a positive reaction from our players following the Preston debacle, but I can't see anything other than an away win today.
  7. What a sickening capitulation from City tonight. LJ remaining as head coach is surely now untenable. The players should be ashamed of themselves as well. Feel sorry for the City fans who made the long journey up there to sit through that.
  8. I'm finding it difficult to feel any optimism about tonight's game. Our away form has been so dreadful.
  9. Thank god for that. Spent the whole afternoon checking my phone expecting to see that Wigan had scored. Flint's goal gave me a moment's joy that turned to nerves as I expected us to concede in the 90-something minute. Phew.
  10. I've been desperately hoping the law of averages will kick in too. In fact it's been my main hope. My fear is that we are too crap to enable it to take effect - a bit like if I played 100 games of tennis against Roger Federer I wouldn't win any. Even though City and the teams near the bottom are more evenly matched than that we've not been playing well enough for a very long time.
  11. I'm dreading today's game. It's such a crucial one and a win is so important, but I have zero confidence we will play well enough to get the 3 points. If I was a Wigan fan I would be optimistic about getting a result at home against a fragile team low on confidence who don't seem capable of winning. I really hope I'm wrong and we smash them. Fair play to havanatopia for continuing the tradition of starting the match day thread, despite feeling the sense of gloom shared by so many of us. Hope the City fans travelling up there have a good journey and are rewarded with something to cheer about.
  12. If we weren't in a relegation dogfight that would have just gone down as one of those games where luck wasn't on our side (apart from when that Burton player miseed an open goal!). In the context of the way our season is going it was a pretty disastrous result and 2 points dropped against a stubborn but poor Burton side. I felt pretty sick as the second half wore on because it just seemed inevitable that we wouldn't get the win.
  13. So frustrating that the goal was disallowed. The ref has been penalising Wilbs all afternoon. We haven't given their keeper enough to do. More incisiveness in attack is needed.
  14. Such an important game today. I really want City to give me a glimmer of hope that we can avoid the drop.
  15. Frustrating that we couldn't hold onto a lead again, but a point gained in my view. Not conceding the third will hopefully boost confidence. Good result and better than I expected this morning.
  16. Let's wait and see. I can see the logic of Wilbraham being in the side with Djuric injured, and at least Wilbs will bring some know-how to the team. Taylor will come on I imagine when Wilbs tires. O'Neill is also experienced so I can see the logic of that, too. A fully-firing Korey Smith would be one of the first players on my team sheet. Lack of match-sharpness might be a problem today.
  17. I'm finding it very difficult to feel optimistic about this game. Hope I'm wrong.
  18. I had similar thoughts. There was a fleeting sense of hope before the fear set in that we wouldn't be able to protect even a three goal lead. Once they got the goal back there was something inevitable about us not getting the win. By the end I was fully expecting them to get an injury time winner. Thank god they didn't. I'm trying to feel positive about a point I didn't expect before the game, but the team's mental weakness is a huge concern.
  19. I really hope we can build on our results in the last two games but it's going to be tough against a side we often struggle against, especially away from home. Fingers crossed for at least a point. COYR
  20. Thanks for the match report. Always good to hear from someone who was at the game. What a depressing night. The result, sadly, was all too predictable. I was keeping up to date with the score online and it mirrored the Wolves game - despair at going a goal down, elation at getting back into the game, nervousness with the realisation that we are unable to see games out and then that sick feeling as the opposition get the inevitable winner. On a run like we are run it's hard to see where the next win is coming from, so I'm not really looking forward to Monday's game. One of those times to dig in and hope for the best.
