  1. It was a very close match at their place last year and I'm sure today will be similar. A win for us would be brilliant but I think it'll be a draw.
  2. Scrappy game today. Charlton kept hold of the ball better and had a couple of lively players but offered little threat. We had the better chances. Important win. COYR
  3. I thought it was a decent performance overall, despite the need to be better the final third. Golbourne had a terrific game and Tomlin looked dangerous. Defensively we are looking solid. O'Donnell played well (apart from a couple of dodgy kicks) - based on his performances so far I'd be happy if he was here permanently. Every time Korey Smith looks like he's injured it makes me panic given his importance in midfield. Frustrating we didn't get the win, but when the game became really open in the second half they looked dangerous and it would have been just our luck to concede (or give away a penalty). Level on points with Rotherham now but we've been in the bottom three for what feels like a long time, so we have to start converting these promising performances into wins soon.
  4. It might be 373 years since the Battle of Leeds but it also feels that long since we got anything up there. Have we beaten them since that cup tie when Gillies scored? I've only been to see City play there once (2010-ish when Nicky Hunt had one of several performances that rank along the worst I've seen in a City shirt) - it's a good weekend away so I'm envious of the City fans at the game today. Hoping for a win - it would be nice to get out of the bottom three asap.
  5. I was dreading today's game, but ended up enjoying it more than any other match this season. It was good to see that the team can operate effectively in a different system with Bobby Reid and Wes Burns doing themselves enormous credit, but the thing that impressed me the most was seeing us going for the jugular in the last 10 mins and our absolute determination to win the ball back. Very refreshing. Smith and Ayling stood out for me, but every player performed really well.
  6. Great read as always havanatopia. Not really looking forward to the game today. A pint or two might help. Hoping we get something against the odds.
  7. It's very difficult to see anything other than relegation after tonight's game. We didn't deserve to lose (despite the appalling first half display) but we didn't deserve to win either and we leaked two more goals. A depressing pattern this season. We just have to hope that Bolton, MK and Charlton continue to struggle so that we are within touching distance of safety. At least we've got an easy game on Saturday...
  8. Really hoping for 3 points tonight, not least because I've got some whisky left over from Xmas and I'd much rather have a glass of it to celebrate rather than to block out the pain of a draw/defeat/conceding a last minute goal. We also desperately need something to give us hope for the remaining part of the season.
  9. Absolutely sickening to concede so late on yet again. It's also concerning that it looks like we had zero shots on target again. The only positive is that we are not adrift - Preston did us a favour and thank goodness Leeds equalised as well.
  10. I'm not going to risk listening to the commentary on the radio because we always lose when I do that. I'll have to make do with the BBC website to keep track of what's happening. COYR
  11. Great post from havanatopia. Wish I was travelling along the M4 to watch the game but funds and family commitments wouldn't allow. I can't help myself thinking about what a fabulous result it would be if we could win today. Then I remember how Reading outplayed us at AG earlier in the season. Tough game. Hope Cotts and the team rise to the challenge.
  12. Still too depressed after Saturday to feel anything other than pessimism about today's game. Hope I'm wrong.
  13. After our performance against QPR I'm looking forward to this game. I just hope we show the same qualities today. 3 points would be brilliant.
  14. Sorry, I'll be at the game - but I'm happy to take full responsibility for whatever happens.
  15. I don't like QPR, mainly because I've seen us play there several times and every time we have lost, apart from in the 1998-1999 season when they equalised in injury time which seemed to set the tone for that season. Worried about this game like I'm now worried about every game. 3 points would be very welcome.
  16. It was very frustrating to concede from a corner after the sending off. Even though Baker is one of our tall defenders, surely going down to ten men shouldn't affect our ability to defend a set piece?
  17. Very depressing. First half we looked ok. It was obviously a mistake not to take Baker off at ht - he was lucky to stay on in the first half. Having said that goodness knows what Baker was doing out wide when he did commit that foul for the second yellow. Agard and Freeman were ineffective. Smith and Reid played well. Getting some new blood in Jan is essential.
  18. This is exactly how I felt this morning. A couple of beers has fortified me and given me more hope.
  19. What a horrendous result. Perhaps an element of complacency going into the game today with the talk of the play offs from the players? I wasn't at the game but it seems like the usual failings, i.e. wasting chances and weak defending. We have bounced back from a bad performance before (e.g. beating Wolves after that horrible Fulham game) so I wouldn't be surprised if we picked up three points next game, but there is no doubt we are struggling - only 3 wins so far says it all. Hopefully we can dig in over the next few games and pick up some points before improving the team in Jan. I'm not holding my breath after the fiasco of the summer, but we have to hold onto some hope! Tough few months ahead.
  20. Can't stand them. That's why their misfortunes of recent years have been so funny.
  21. Yes it was Palace and Cardiff. I remember thinking we'd avoid a relegation battle after those games. How wrong I was. Today's game could be tough. Bolton will be desperate to win to avoid being marooned in the relegation zone. Our players must avoid complacency and maintain the discipline they showed against Wolves. A win would be great but my hunch is it will be a draw.
  22. That was an important win and another clean sheet. Also another bogey team laid to rest. COYR
