I’m sorry but it do find this sort of argument to be, for want of a better word, total horseshit.

Football careers are short and plenty of players who do commit to a club - let’s say Taylor Moore, Chris Martin or James Morton to take a range of examples - find the club has no loyalty to them when their form drops off or we find better players.

Any footballer would be a fool to think a club would be loyal to them so why would they show loyalty? We all know how the transfer market works and anyone signing an 18 year old on a four year contract has to expect that it may take two years to find their feet so the last two years at the club are when the interest will be highest.

You can quite easily say the club screwed up by not taking the cash last January and it certainly unfortunate both club and player clearly expected offers that did not come.

But Massengo has not refused to move to a club we have accepted an offer for and is utterly in his rights to not sign a contract. The error, so far as there is one, is the club failing to judge that he would not sign and move him on in time. I think criticism of the player for that is naive and absurd.

You not agreeing with a point of view doesn't make it horseshit. My point is, Taylor Moore did his absolute best to make a career at AG, even taking a reduced contract. I would happily applaud him if he returns to AG.

HNM otoh, as is totally his right, spent the last year of his contract trying to leave. What the rights and wrongs of it are I don't know but if he returns it would be a meh from me.

Sorry what has he done wrong? Just made it clear he isn't going to sign a new contract which is his prerogative.

As someone whose priority is bcfc, not HNM, that is exactly what is wrong about his decision imo. I certainly won't be wishing him well when he has cost us a fair chunk of money and shown no desire to commit to the club, which is my priority.

You are right, assuming we have offered an equivalent contract then assuming he’s heading abroad we will get compo under FIFA RSTP scheme…and probably something in the region of €300k. ?

When you say 'equivalent' does that mean at least the current salary? As most players are being offered reduced terms, maybe we wouldn't actually meet that condition? 300k is way below his market value but better than nowt.

I have a feeling its contractual reasons with Martin and HNM, Martin is a contract extension with appearances and with HNM, a fee to Monaco after 100 games.

NP said in one of his pressers that he didn't know anything about him being on 99 games. So either he was telling porkies or this isn't right. To be clear, I see no reason why he would deny it, even if it was true as he is pretty open about most things.

Ok. I’ve just woken up and I’m a bit confused. Has Semenyo signed for Bournemouth? The fact this thread is still in the transfer forum suggests not? If he hasn’t do we know why and is there another club?

I hear it takes two days for Bournemouth to do a medical so maybe that's the delay ?. At least that was the story with the french player they were looking to sign.

AS has been out of form most of the season

He wasn't fit, then when he was, NP decided to keep him on the bench. I don't think it is any coincidence that after a run of games where he started he has got his mojo back. I do struggle to understand why he wasn't given a run of games earlier. Similar questions about why Cam Pring wasn't in the team. I question some of Nige's selection decisions, while accepting I don't know what goes on off the pitch.

If Wolves want a deal, I think there is one to be done. It'll just be around future considerations (£17-18 m up front with possible £10m add ons?). Who knows, but maybe we stretch the fee to make any future FFP issues less pressing (Lloyd Kelly anyone).

I agree. I think £20-25m for Scott seems over-ambitious based on his contribution right now. He doesn't get enough goals/assists and isn't a Kante-type MF who justifies that fee with other attributes imo.

What they are paying for really is potential. So a lower up-front fee of say £15m but with lots of add ons in case he reaches the potential he seems to have seems more realistic to me. But what do I know. ?

We have essentially been given a footballing lesson by a team who create space, options and overloads for fun, retain the ball and make quick/correct decisions, which in essence is the polar opposite to us!

So this is the key question for me. Is that because their players are better than ours;is it because our confidence at home is low, or is it that Swansea are being coached better than our side? Probably a combo of all three but I do feel we lack a cohesive style of play that points toward the coaching as at least a contributing factor. NP says he isn't a coach but he chose the coaches and I am not convinced they are delivering.

  9. Boro really showing the benefit of the new manager bounce. Made me wonder whether SL ever managed to change manager and get that kind of effect. Cotterill maybe but that was only really after a good transfer window. We probably have had a good bounce on changing boss at some point and I've just forgotten it.
